I agree, don’t take the lore at face value, and don’t become obsessed with the persona of the band members. It’s all a gimmick to promote music without making the human beings who made it a priority - though it is a really intricate and well-constructed gimmick at that.

Best thing will be the promotion that comes with a big record label. Sleep Token not even being mentioned at the Grammys is a thing of the past now, not to mention possible radio play seeing as how it has mass appeal.
That's the problem with this label, promo is not their thing
They get radio play on Q101 which is a bit alternative station in Chicago.
I first heard of them on my local obscure somewhat radio and then on BBC Radio 1 Daniel P Carter’s show playing live at Maida Vale studio.
Oh you wait for the mass appeal and the creative control they give up.
They dont wanna be big like that for grammys, ether way that type of popularity the fame will change their veiw alot to like mordern day what people want to see but Sleep token wants to be their own thing ❤
Wouldn't surprise me if RCA really wanted ST for V's songwriting also. Maybe he will help ghost write for other artists on the label? Who knows.
He already does / has done that I think so it is very possible. A bit like Sia

The BMTH/ST Australia tour makes a bit more sense now, I know nothing about the music industry, but I would think your label wouldn’t stop you touring with a band from another label, but would obviously prefer you to all be under the same label, which would lead to that line up, with Make Them Suffer too.

I hope they can stick to the sound of Take me back to Eden, and not go like full pop. This is the best new band ive heard in ages, that also are gonna get massive. They are already big. I think its good for the Metal genre and rock music when bands like this comes up. It Will make rock/metal more populAr.
Yes. I'm just not a fan of Alkaline or Aqua Regia. Their pop is far too NPC for me. I'd be a bit sad to see them take only that direction.

I hope they will continue combining the ambient, electronics and metal, instead of being a generic "modern metatl" band like BTMH with a generic structures, and will continue sounding like ambient + metal + indie combination, in that order

This is major! I am worried major label might mean interference with creative liberties and vessels writing. Either way this is huge for them.

I can't obviously say anything definitive one way or another, but I'd be really surprised if they would sign a deal that would allow the label to intrude on their creativity like that. I know that it's a common trope that the big record labels stomp on creative liberties with artists, and I'm sure that is and has been true in many cases, but I think that's probably less prevelant these days. I think that labels know that artists can build massive followings and earn an amazing living without the label infrastructure, so I think that the negotiating power is a little bit more balanced these days; especially with a band that's been killing it like Sleep Token has lately.
I feel a lot better knowing this is the same label that BMTH is on, because they really seem like they just do whatever the fuck they want. So, here's hoping that RCA extends that same courtesy to Sleep Token as well.

That's always the fear, hopefully they can hold their own against the crushing pressure of major label expectations. The potential for 'Disneyfication' becomes very real.
This usually happens if the band/artist fails to make numbers to the label but even if that was the case, RCA wouldn't be signing them. Major labels these days aren't interested to invest in small but "huge potential" artists/bands.
We know the "major label bad blah blah etc" discourse but someone on the chat mentioned expecting them to go with Sumerian and honestly that would be a lot more WORSE situation for the band than RCA.
I still remember when they were with Basick Records back in 2017, and then they moved to Spinefarm, and now they signed to RCA records that's Insane

I don't obsess over the members, but I do obsess over all the early music, it's a hell of a trip now that they've started the archive of LF to find old publicly available songs (which are amazing to hear, I wish they would remaster them or reuse their parts)

There is a BMTH, Sleep Token and Make Them Suffer tour happening in Australia in April 2024. Was announced last year so its possible this has been in the works for quite some time.

I recently just started listening to Sleep Token like 5 days ago with just Rain, I found it on the Spotify shorts and liked it. As of yesterday morning I now listen to all of the Taken Me Back To Eden and This Place Will Be Your Tomb albums. I'm still getting used to their sound, especially Vessel's voice, but I'm loving the music so after. I'm regretting not listening to them sooner. I'm truly impressed by them.

Super stoked about them joining RCA to be honest. I think it’ll help expand their creativity. I also think they’re the type of band who will stay true to their lore/vision and will speak up against any push from the record label on changing anything. Also. The main thing that's on my mind is I hope the record label sees how marketable Sleep Token's current sound is that the record label doesn't try to meddle with their art. Been a fan since sundowning and I absolutely love how undefinable they are.

I’m going to one of the sleep token and bring me concerts in april. My plane tickets alone were USD$370 but it doesn’t even matter because I would happily go into debt to see either of those bands, let alone both at the same time. Record label contracts are typically for X amount of music. They probably fulfilled the contract and just moved to something bigger.
I doubt their sound will change anymore than it would have by their own choices.
RCA saw the money with sold out shows and megahype.
I saw them back in 2018 at Tech Fest when they stood in for Protest The Hero and they immediately filled the room.
Plus there's a song or two on East of Eden that could be considered R&B... seems like a good fit, happy for the bois!

Just a quick story to hopefully make you chuckle…. I was tryna buy Sleep Token tickets for their show in Philly The Met… the tickets would go on sale while I was at work (10:00am). The company I work for gives us a break at 09:30 and a lunch at 12:00 so I would be able to buy em as soon as they dropped… for some reason tho i decided to go to the wawa during the first few minutes of my break and my idiot self left my keys locked in the truck and couldn’t get in… I eventually resolved all that got back to work and because of all that excitement I didn’t remember about the tickets until lunch and when I got on to buy them they were all sold out no with no resale available 😭.

I'm an old fogey and fully jumped on the Sleep Token hype train. Only got more interested the further back I traveled down their catalog history. Great seeing them succeed while doing their own thing. Love their Genre mixing. I can listen to them, Opeth, Hank 3, Archspire, In Flames, RHCP, and TooL all in the same sitting... so I am probably not the type to hate them lol. Anyway, good for them!
