Lol, I crashed my "flying brick" Runner 250 so many times.. The last time my older brother watched with his mouth open as it rolled end over end about 12 ft. down the paved driveway and flew away.
I probably flew about 20-30 hrs in DRL sim with my radiomaster reciever before I flew FPV for real and it payed off big time! I was amazed how close this games physics and flight characteristics are so close to the real thing...
Lol I'm here, a noob. I can build one, want one but don't know if I'll getotion sickness. Don't want to spend hundreds just to make myself feel sick. If I can take it, I'll build one
AFAIK Betaflight now has a radio receiver pass through to USB port option. So you can connect your Kwad to the PC instead (as if connecting it to Betaflight configurator). Then when you use your radio transmitter's sticks, the Kwad's receiver, passes on their positions through the FC and to your PC via the FC's USB port. Useful when your radio transmitter's has no USB port. You don't need to connect the battery to the Kwad and the option must be enabled via the command line tab in Betaflight.
Am new to fpv as use a DJI spark safe and boring I know so I just downloaded your sim in the hope I can practice before crashing a few hundred quid lol btw your channel is great and I watch it in the uk, really informative, I admire all your hard work and your skills in flying
Just a suggestion that has helped me a lot while using a SIM. During the initial radio set up and before connecting the radio to your computer, activate 2 channels on the radio in the mixer for the "drone reset" and "race restart" keyboard short cuts and assign them to switches on the radio in the SIM set up. It's really easy to do and will save you a bunch of hassle later. Just be sure to use channels 9 and 10, or higher. For whatever reason, Windows 10 does not like them mapped to channels 5 through 8. Instead of reacting for the keyboard for your most used keyboard short cuts, the functions can be performed right from the radio. Be honest, we're going to reset our drones and restart races A LOT in a SIM. You'll thank me later.
Mike Oleksa I just started today! Flew my tinyhawk for the first time too and sucked so I bought liftoff and I suck there too I love it so much. Are you on any groups on fb? The fpv community is probably my favorite of all time. Just so much knowledge and passion. Because there is sooooo much commitment with getting everything going, so you aren’t here if you aren’t passionate about it yanno? Griffin love it. Getfpv on fb is an amazing group!
Thanks 4 posting this!!! I suck with computers and my laptop is 8 years old!!!!! Wont even run a sim!!! All it will do is freeze up!!!! So I'll be back 2 watch this again when i get a new laptop!!! Or maybe i can take my old laptop 2 a friend 2 see if he can get a fpv sim 2 work? All i know is i got a Qx7 and a 5inch fpv quad and never fly it!!! I need something smaller so i can fly in the yard and learn acro!!! Thanks again 4 posting this & i hope you have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT CHANNEL! 👍😀👍 My brother only plays games on Steam! Has been for years!!!!!!!
Hi Rotor Riot, you really should have structured this video around setting up a Flysky transmitter with a SIM showing the different USB adaptors you can purchase from banggood to set up a wired or wireless connection. 90% of beginner Pilots will need a SIM and I can guarantee you 90% of beginner Pilots will start off with a Flysky transmitter due to affordability. I use The DRL SIM and IMO it is the superior SIM due to having better physics, graphics and performs perfectly on my computer. With one of the recent updates there are extensive options for building and customising your own drone.
Loved the video and the information. I’ve flown planes, the big goggles and I have great TX’s but I wasn’t sure about the drone itself. I got your sim and we’ll see where it goes. Lift-Off is not great with Steam, real pain compared to Realflight. Thank you for putting the vid together👍🏼
A lot of basics skipped.... I personally would have suggested setting a switch on the transmitter for reset rather than the r key on the pc I personally use the momentary switch. All in all not a bad video keep it up jaboy
Works well with jumper T16 as well can use freerider on a tablet with OTG connector and most transmitters as well. Have used velocidrone and lift off as well, lift off graphics are a bit nicer but velocidrone is nice in terms of speed to get in and fly and nice options to tweak the physics feel.
Can you suggest on a good quality remote control that i can purchase and practice simulators on my MacBook before I move to the next step and use this remote actually flying in the future. Thanks!!
Any chance you can touch on different laptops and pc's that can run these. I know for me that was the part I had the most trouble with. Inexpensive and top of the line laptop to run and an inexpensive pc or top of the line pc to run. Just a thought.... thank you for the awesome content!
Great video thanks, fyi there are also two VR R/C sims now.. I have Reflex XTR2 and its just recently been updated for Windows VR headsets, headswivingly brilliant imo....yes PC VR setup here...Laurie
As someone completely new to the hobby I have a question about when you plug the mini USB into the computer, does it send power into the transmitter and is that okay? When I plugged my Taranis QX7 ACCESS in just like this I noticed it was "charging" the battery and I have a 1300 mah 2s lipo in my radio and I don't know if the USB "charging" is okay.
These drone simulators are really awesome. My son and I are learning on them. Do any of these race drone simulators have any planes in them that I could practice FPV on planes as well, at least just one plane. Any help would be awesome, thank you!
Do you really need that specific controllee or could i put on like a PS controller. I just really wanna try this simulator without buying actual fpv things yet
Hi there Yes you can do that but just keep in mind that you’re not gonna get the precision that comes with the actual transmitters but still you can use the ps controllers, i dont think you’ll feel any difference because you haven’t tried the actual one. Hope this helps✌️
I just got the DRL sim and I'm using a ps4 controller, its a bit rough at first and I think it would be easier to fly with a real controller but it does work!
Does this work with a DJI mavic mini controller? I am looking to try this fpv awesomeness but I don’t want to spend too much money on it before I know I want to buy all the fpv stuff and I have a mavic mini.
The simulator only works LOS or can you use goggles? If you can use goggles what are the options and how do you set it up? Is that transmitter the only one that works, the best or most popular one?
nice work.I struggle with liftoff as I cant get it to feel like my drone.I am looking to practice but as it doesnt feel anything like what I have, it is gathering cyber dust.
I don't think any of them are perfect. In my opinion, once you get the basics of flying around and turns you may as well just practice with your real drone. Save the sim for rainy days where you want to try some new moves.
Hey! Any tips for someone that's not getting any response when moving the joysticks? I just picked up a BETAFPV LiteRadio 2SE to play around in some sims to see if I wanna get into FPV but can't get it working for the life of me!
As a very experienced freestyle pilot and builder I never used a simulator so when it started raining hard here in NorCal I decided to download Liftoff. Upon my first flight I chose a medium skill level. I could barely get the quad off the ground. The graphics were so slow and bad it wasn't anything like real flying. I tried a low skill level and tried to tweek the graphics and it got a little better. Now when I try the graphics can't even keep up. What am I doing wrong?
Woe! What is the console which he is using? He like just assumed everyone know what controller he is using i dont want to play a video game of drone flying. I want a SIMULATOR that has actual real world representation Are these video games or real world SIMULATORS?
I have a question, while i am connected to the simulator my controller keep charging batteries inside. Is it bad or should i use controller (Mambo) without battery while connected to Sim?
Yeah I got left off and I'm very displeased with it I basically can't use it I tried utilizing the steam link to even use my cell phone as a controller and that doesn't work it will not recognize my sim controller and it will not recognize my Turnigy Evolution Pro as an actual flight controller it thinks it's a game controller like an Xbox controller which is ridiculous and my other flight controller my FlySky doesn't even show up on the computer I think I got a faulty Link cable, for a simulator there really should be more compatibility with controller so people could use whatever they have especially being their spending money on this thing only to find out they can't use it and I don't believe they're even able to get their money back, I have yet to even be able to get the rotors on the quad copters to spin at all in the lift off Sim.
They should mention that LIFTOFF is their own IP. Considering that they are pointing you toward it. Take account the fact that this is a biased source.
This video was meant to be played at 1.25X
Meant for noobies
most talking videos can be played 1.5x-2x+ without issue
this boy spitting the truth
oh my god you are right hahahaha
This one I had on 2.2x, like I do usually in most videos, but I did not notice that he is speaking slowly than average person. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wish I would have listened when I started when people told me to start with a simulator. I would have saved a bunch of money. Lol
nice tip for starting now :D
Lol, I crashed my "flying brick" Runner 250 so many times..
The last time my older brother watched with his mouth open as it rolled end over end about 12 ft. down the paved driveway and flew away.
Yup mee tooo. I'm up to over $2k in flyoffs and crashes.🤑💥
I probably flew about 20-30 hrs in DRL sim with my radiomaster reciever before I flew FPV for real and it payed off big time! I was amazed how close this games physics and flight characteristics are so close to the real thing...

YES !!!!! THIS is how we grow the community and the hobby . Thank you SO MUCH !
Wow Liftoff looks like it’s come a long way since I played it
I felt the same in getting ready for this video. I hadn't played it in awhile. They added a bunch of maps and improved the physics quite a bit.
Good video! I started with fpv freerider and now I use velocidrone.
Veloci worked a mutch for a real Fealing, in Time is this the best Sim fr me.
Sims are definitely the source of most of my stick time. Appreciate the video Jeff!

You should create a video showing this all set up.
thank you so much for going back to help outthe newbees im getting from you thanks for your time.
I use a Graupner SIM-Controler 6 Mode 2 USB ( 28,99.- Euro) and the Liftoff Software ! 😃👍
Finally someone who explains how to actually connect your Tx - great video. Many thanks.
Great tutorial. I never would've made it anywhere without this!

Great video, can you provide a video to set up a DJI remote controller?
DTA following
Having a transmitter which allows pilot to hold a transmitter that has 2 sticks simular to a actual transmitter, maybe.
Perfect. Neat clear concise short not rushed easy to follow answered everything I wanted know.
An excellent video. You answered a number of questions I had. Thank you!
Even though i've been flying since 2013, i recently bought the DRL sim. after trying other sims in the past it felt the best IMO.
Did you try liftoff?
Yep i tried many and drl is the best atm. With the new 3.0 update it feels the most realistic.
A close up of the mini cable would have been nice.
its only basic usb mini cable. not micro usb or else..
I love me some Vort3x. I have yet to fly in a simulator
Window Washer Really?
Glen Davis Yup

I recommend trying out DCL (The Game )- Early Demo is free until the full release of the game . But Liftoff is the real deal .
Thanks Jeff. When will you continue the series?
I believe it's 3 new episodes every friday
Thx!
Ty
What are the minimun specs to have in a computer for best performance on the best simulator?
Thanks very informative and btw lift off + vr index = 🤯
A lot of basics skipped.... I personally would have suggested setting a switch on the transmitter for reset rather than the r key on the pc I personally use the momentary switch. All in all not a bad video keep it up jaboy
Do you have directions on how to connect a T18 to your computer to use the Liftoff simulator? I tried your instructions from this video with no luck.
I used a DX8 and an Orangerx usb receiver
Awesome! :D Great and informative video! Getting more and more used to the sticks :)
Can you suggest on a good quality remote control that i can purchase and practice simulators on my MacBook before I move to the next step and use this remote actually flying in the future. Thanks!!
Roy Granot did you ever get an answer? Purchase a transmitter? Fly simulation?
Taranis QX7 man, best in the game for the money and works with Mac 😁

Thank you! awesome tutorial!
Thank you.. amazing video !

Any chance you can build in an Acro Trainer mode or know of a way to emulate it please? Thanks
DCL was a nice sim, and free.
What about heavy lift drone
Do you really need that specific controllee or could i put on like a PS controller. I just really wanna try this simulator without buying actual fpv things yet

Yes you can do that but just keep in mind that you’re not gonna get the precision that comes with the actual transmitters but still you can use the ps controllers, i dont think you’ll feel any difference because you haven’t tried the actual one. Hope this helps✌️
I just got the DRL sim and I'm using a ps4 controller, its a bit rough at first and I think it would be easier to fly with a real controller but it does work!
Can i also use the standard controller fron the dji mavic air for fpv sims like liftoff?
Which racing drone( with controller ) can i get under 200 dollars and which are the cheapest glasses for that drone ? (not to be from banggood)
Can this simulator work with the dji controller?
Trying to find this out too!
Can we connect fsi6x to this simulator.. if yes..please upload a video about how to do that
Great video. What’s best radio liftoff and would a proper one be an investment to fly all drones?
Does this work with a DJI mavic mini controller?
I am looking to try this fpv awesomeness but I don’t want to spend too much money on it before I know I want to buy all the fpv stuff and I have a mavic mini.

What is a decent starter radio that I can use? Need one that will work with Sim, don't need high end ones
nice work.I struggle with liftoff as I cant get it to feel like my drone.I am looking to practice but as it doesnt feel anything like what I have, it is gathering cyber dust.
Make sure to try some of the player created setups available on the Steam Workshop :)

Will Spektrum dongo work with a Spektrum transmitter
can i use my dji mini 2 drone controller to a fpv sim ?
Hey! Thanks for your video! Do you know if it's possible to use a emax transmitter with this simulator?
What if your flying digital, can you creat a model?

What is the graphic card min requirements for most sims?
Just read the description of the sim they usually show the system requirements for the sim there
Minimum specs can be found on the Steam page for Liftoff

Will it work on android devices?
Hey VORT3X, is there a program that allows you to use goggles?
can i use my dji controller with this
Yes
does it work for Mac??
can you use an xbox controller with liftoff? :3
