Very cool! I'm researching this exact thing right now. What I've done so far is I created a character sitting in an office with computer monitors and multi-colored lights. I was overwhelmed with how many amazing images popped up. Then (in Midjourney), I went through several rounds of edits to remove the character, leaving just the office. I saved both versions. Now, when I prepare my green screen + lights setup, I not only have an amazing, blurry background (depth of field on purpose), but I also have a nearly perfect reference image, because the AI made me a version with the in-focus character in it, and the appropriate lighting. The results you pulled off are fantastic! I love the shots!
This is so cool. When I started playing with MJ this was one of my first thoughts. When creating the scenes, you can actually specify the focal length as a prompt. I usually just use "focal length xxmm" and even aperture, it usually helps the prompt. You could probably even specify shot on Arri Alexa to get a certain look
This tutorial is a great step by step! One thing I would add is, don't use 'cheap' blur filters but pay attention to the depth in the background and use filters like Camera Lens Blur, with an added depth matte (which can be AI generated) to really create a more realistic blur. And pro tip: Try putting a light and a chair in the background to see how much it's actually blured in real life, then don't overdo the blur in post.
With the amount it cost in lights alone, it would have paid you to just fly to a location that had that look for real in the background.. I understand the project in using the AI background and I do respect the effort! .. perhaps you could do a more budget version of this to show the people who would more likely use this green screen technique ?
They could probably achieve a similar look with lower budget by picking a room with windows that match the ai background. It could actually be cheaper if you're filming several interviews. Its actually far cheaper if you're doing multiple interviews: instead of flying or driving, lugging gear, setting up in each location they could just re-arrange the lighting in a single room and swap out the backgrounds. Save on time and money.
I'm literally working on a video now that I used ai for to make 4 backgrounds for 4 different interviews. Makes it so much easier to just set up a green screen instead of being busy with lighting and set designing a whole room.
any thoughts on trying to get a few angles of the "same" generated room? If that was an actual scene there would likely need to be a front and a 3/4 or side view. I didn't think Midjourney had contextual awareness with it's prompts to be able to essentially say "now generate perpendicular angle of the same room facing the window" for example.
I do interviews often for work and have difficulty finding good spaces and making them work. I’d love to see some examples of what you’re doing with green screen, that could be a game changer for me
You really nailed the first one. If I were immersed the story, I'm not sure i'd pick up on the keyed-in AI background. At least not immediately. Very nice work.
Great breakdown. Curious if the Wirecast live green screen quality is really that good? Better say than After Effects? Looking to reduce our efforts in post production and intrigued to hear from more users.
Hey! Super cool! Thanks a lot! Quick question; I know it is no green screen tutorial, just wondering which codec you are using/ recording to get that key with each hair strand? Again Thanks a lot! Oh, by the way, you mention that the camera position is guesswork... if you draw vanishing lines, you will find your horizon! If that is in the middle, the camera is straight... if it is above the camera is tilted down and if it is beneath the middle the camera is facing upwards! As the horizon does not change its position when moving the camera up or down, this will make it way more easy to find the cam hight!
I just tried the reverse of this in my latest video. I shot the green screen video first, took a still from it after the grade and used generative fill to match the lighting of the subject. Your process is still better but a.i is getting scary accurate in matching the lighting and fov.
Great innovation and clear instruction! Thank you so much! I have been doing green screen for five years and using cloth backgrounds. Time to get a screen behind my models! Thanks again!
1st time viewer here. Man, this is really nice work...with tons of great info...however, most of us who have $20K (or more) worth of film-making gear laying around, will likely already know how to do these types of things. May I suggest doing videos like this with both a pro budget, AND an indie budget? i.e. 'If you don't have $8K worth of lights, use these type of lights instead.' I think that would be much more helpful for most of us here on UA-cam. Again, great work! I enjoyed this so much, I WILL be subscribing.
This is solid content!! Great job! so inspired! what would you recommend for green screen work if you have a super small space? I'm in a 8FT squared room.
That was almost $10K worth of lighting equipment for this shot. Can you do something similar for under $4000 or less. Using the same equipment from this video?
I've always enjoyed watching your videos, and they're very inspiring for anyone who's interested in filming. I have a space that's 11 feet by 20 feet with removable furniture, and I'd like to use it for a two-person interview. I'd appreciate your help in suggesting how I can use this space to use AI-generated backgrounds. A drawing and lighting suggestions would be very helpful. If I keep the green background 10 feet behind the interviewer, then where should I place the cameras? Would we be able to use 3 DSLR cameras in this small space? I appreciate your suggestions.
the funny thing is, you don't even need green screen anymore, you can simply go in davinci and cut the background out in fusion, and then put a background behind the person.
Thanks for this, very informative. Now with the previewing the keying on a laptop to make sure our lighting matches our background, I see that most of those video capture card are 4K. Does that mean if I want to shoot 8K does it mean I won't see the picture? Or will it still display at the maximum resolution of the card? I guess for setting up one can always do it in 4k and when ready to shoot bump it up to 8k.
So well done!! I love this. Going through the description you told us so many tools not to use, but you didnt tell me what plugins drew the cool arrows. Since you didn’t tell me NOT to use them, can you share with me what they are? Thanks!
Best option to chroma key live on set is to have 1 blackmagic Decklink connected to the camera and a PC by using unreal engine you can keyout your actor and output it back to a monitor
Hey guys, LOVE the next level lighting tuts - did you find it easier to key the green screen with the first setup with two lights or the second setup with the single green hue light?
@@EpicLightMedia Any resources you can suggest for tutorials on keying? Your results were incredible and I was really hoping you would show us that process as well.
Epic video as always! 👊🏻 Can you please reveal which 'search words' you used after 'prompt' in midjourney? I'm having trouble to generate an image wide enough for my needs. Thanx a lot! I did definitely NOT subscribe years ago...
“ --ar 16:9” add that at the end of your prompt for 16:9 ratio. Each version of mid journey can have slight changes but this works with the current version.
Last few seconds were the best!!!
Too much sophisticated to normal people.
All of this is way above my pay grade but it sure was educational and informative to watch!
Same!

Uh. Wow. That was dope. I'm going to try this.
Always nice to have $15,000 in lighting laying around.
They are some of the best green screen backgrounds I have ever seen. Amazing job. I can't wait to have a play with my set up
Incredible results! Seamless!
Awesome! Would love a tutorial on how you prompted midjourney to get the right look and camera height for these shots.
this is so well explained, thanks so much !!
absolutely insane! wow
dude youre descriptions are amazing! thank you
This is a great idea, I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks for the detailed tutorial on how to make it work.
Good luck!! It’s fun!! Thanks!

This absolutely magical, encapsulates filming, the limitations are only the imagination.
Wow..!! Amazing the initial shots.! hats off..!!👏👏
Amazing results and great work! Can’t wait for someone that achieves the same results with an iPhone, a green screen and some Wallmart stuff… :-)
I subscribed because of the ending. Great video! It was really fun to watch.
Oh thanks!! Welcome to the channel….. haha
Me too! 😂😂😂 "We don't want any more subscribers". It works right?

This is badass guys :)
It’s funny that $6000 worth of lighting is considered cheap 😂

Super! I loved the phrase, "The AI image has warm practical lights" (meaning "practical lights" that don't exist!)

Good.
I have a case of Aputure MC's, and was wondering where you got the plate attachments for the stands? What are those even called? Great video!

Loved this quick walk though.
Thanks!!
Dang dude. Nice execution!
what is the best software (reasonably priced) for green screen and ALSO the rest of the video editing..background images and sound thanks
Please make a part 2 about the post production!
Incredible! Do you guys do any videos on lighting for cheaper cameras? Even for iphone cameras?
I think we used a phone for part of our “how to film an interview in a boring room” video
Well done. I wonder what it would all look like if you just had maybe one light on the greenscreen, and maybe two lights on the talent to work with.
One light can be enough for the chroma. The amount and quality of these people's equipment is insane. You can get ideas though.
The second setup looks dope! Love it ❤ I have to try it out one day!!
You did a great job matching the light!
Much better that film school!
the ending always make me laugh. fantastic channel
Great video. You could put the background into an editor and clean up some of the strange things to make it even more realistic.
“Please don’t subscribe.”

You matched these so well

Great work!! How can generate different backgrounds from one scene, for a multiple angles? hope I explained myself well.

Fusion
really fun!

I would recommend using a TV as a green screen in a small room
the metal things on the tables are ai's attempt at older style straw dispensers common in retro diners
Excellent
this is crazy good!
The next level is 3D Ai generated spaces. 2D can only go so far.
Great Aputure commercial.
They make good stuff and I’m a fanboy…. 100%
@@EpicLightMedia Agreed :)
This is fantastic.
Wow wow. Looks so good. Seen others do this but great job keeping the realism.

It’s surprisingly easy
The green screen link is to an item that looks significantly different and smaller than what you used. Where can I get the large one you used?
super!that's beautiful footage, Epic, 🙌
Mind Blown! I honestly never liked green screens. But this makes me want to try!
