LOVE me some Keef! I've been playing Heartbreak Hotel for maybe 30 years - and just a couple of weeks ago, something bubbled up from deep inside me and I found myself playing it better and more soulfully than ever before. Blew my mind, and I felt rewarded for having kept at it for so long...

I was shocked the other day. A girl didn't recognize the song title Satisfaction, and I told her, "Believe me if I play it to you you will recognize it."
I then cued it up on UA-cam and played it to her off my phone. She never heard it in her life.
And that was here in midtown Manhattan NYC, where I've lived my whole life.

Satisfaction could be many things, could go 'swing' w a little imagination, could go jazzier, or bluesier. I think when it was recorded it was ya know 1965, and you have to see it in its originality, and within that time frame, or era, to understand it. It was what was happening, so it had that impact as such, but musically , well numerous remixes could be made , and could go in many directions. Ha, Keith could easily put up 50 foot big screens of numbers stones did in the sixties w screaming fans, and walk out and do a sit down acoustic I don't know blues or jazz version of the same song 55 years later, would work for me, just saying it's all been done before, he's.right though, over time it has to morph like everything else, or it wouldn't be real

All the rock star poses and trappings melt away as a guy like Keith gets older. And he lets you see the intelligence, soulfulness and sensitivity that produced the things he will leave behind: the towering catalog of immortal music he and Mick made over decades. If the drugs had killed him young we would still have had a lot of the music but never gotten to know the MAN the way these later years and his generosity with his time have allowed us. Keith is the greatest rhythm guitarist in rock, and his love of the acoustic guitar and masterful incorporation of acoustic with Stones blues has sweetened and deepened so much of their work. Mick is the amazing voice of the Stones but Keith is the band

100% yes. Songs are dynamic. What happens on stage today might be new and different from what’s on the record. I love hearing fresh takes on the old songs.

Keef is one of the coolest, most real guys out there. Never die, Keef! Keep rocking forever. You should play your version of Cocaine Blues with the X-Pensive Winos, would be brilliant.

About any musician that played in big arenas will financially prefer them over clubs, but certainly not artistically.

I kinda get what he's saying. I'm not great at it, but I have written and my own songs and recorded them out multitrack, which can be kinda time consuming for an amateur. But as you play your songs over the years you always find something you'd like to have done on the recording.

His attitude toward the old hits is cool. So many older rockers get sick of playing the old hits. They could take something away from this interview. His take is humble. I don't like it when people don't want to do the things that made them famous/wealthy. They should appreciate that people still want to hear or see them do it again. Too many people lack appreciation for who and what got them to where they are.

The Stones songs age well. People will be listening to the Rolling Stones 100 years from now, and beyond.
