Of all the mages in Fate, which one do you think suffers the most? Kariya might be my pick.
EMIYA.
There are few fates out there worse for someone of his temparment to make a deal with Alaya.
His suffering is eternal, while other can take solace in death.
Physically I’d say Sakura, given her undeserved circumstances and how at this point she might not even care about Mages. Mentally, Ritsuka where, most likely mutation and almost lack of ability aside, he’s been on the verge of a mental breakdown a few times in Lostbelt for destroying many worlds that didn’t deserve it and will be suffering PTSD after Britain.
And for a mix of both, EMIYA for just his situation of becoming a Counter Guardian for what seems to be like a few centuries before finally snapping.
Not a popular pick, but I feel that my boy Kayneth was done especially dirty.
Betrayed by his pupil, his Servant and his wife, and even his foe wouldn't give him a clean death.
Even in the meta sense, he gets the least sympathy out of all Fate characters who deserve it.
I'd say Kischur due to how long he has lived along with how his magical prowess seems to stem from not only his strength but also knowledge and experience. He most likely embodies this phrase: "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."
Are you seriously asking us to pick among potentially dozens of FATE characters who experienced great suffering and misery in their life and literal afterlife?
It’s implied that giving Sakura to the Mayo’s was the lesser of two evils. Cuz had the Mages Association gotten involved, Rin and Sakura would’ve been grounded up into magic fertilizer
Damn, that's rough
I think that you are exaggerating, girl chosen as a heir would be as safe as average mage child it is only her sister that would end up as lab specimen.
Care to elaborate? Ive never heard of this. It's totally normal for a second child to be raised normal.
@@OtakuDaiKun It is secondhand information from tv tropes but it makes sense for me.
"The light novel reveals that no matter which daughter he would have chosen as his successor, the other one was from Tokiomi's point of view in constant danger of getting a Fate Worse than Death, namely in the form of Sealing Designations given out by the Association. The heir of a distinguished mage family is "protected" from such a fate and also receives the magic crest of the family for further protection from outsiders and supernatural events. Zouken's offer was basically a godsend that instantly solved Tokiomi's dilemma of leaving one daughter in danger. Too bad he didn't see what a monster Zouken is. So Tokiomi either would put one of his daughters in danger for the rest of her life, without any way to protect her (especially because as a Tohsaka he had to participate in the upcoming Grail War and could possibly die), or even if he did find a family for her, he would separate her from her family and she also would have to go through the harsh, bloodstained life of a mage. The latter would mean a better chance at survival."
"The anime leaves out a crucial inner monologue when he visits Rin, that fully explains the reason why he gave Sakura up for adoption. In the anime, it looks like Tokiomi is an ambitious mage who only follows tradition. Tokiomi reveals to Kariya that he gave Sakura up because both her and Rin were born with unnatural talent and he couldn't protect both. Finding a distinguished mage family that is willing to adopt and train a child to make them their heir is nigh impossible, which is why he immediately accepted when Zouken promised protection and education for Sakura, so she wouldn't be robbed of her future and fall into "mediocrity". The light novel reveals that robbing Sakura of her potential future is technically true, but was interpreted in the most negative way by Kariya. Sakura receiving a Sealing Designation would rob her of her future, so Tokiomi didn't see another choice for her but to become a mage. His belief in the mage institutions and their practices made him fear for Sakura's safety, as Sakura was born with a non-conventional Elemental Trait, which would make her a target for rare specimen-seeking mages."
@@wojciechwerner8787 Ah, so it's worth double checking the light novel.
My idea with Izanami is that her myth has her explicitly give birth and die after giving birth and as such that's why she was able to have Eric and die shortly after
My personal head cannon on why Shirio had such a strong magic circuit despite not coming from a mage lineage is two fold.
1. The dormant circuits were forcibly activated by Avalon when it was used to save him from death.
2. He was actually creating new circuits when practicing his mage craft.
However I think that the second point was only possible because it was Shiro who was the holder of Avalon and doing so would have been fatal for any other mage.
To those who are saying Avalon only functions near Saber you are correct.
However Shiro was practicing his mage craft in the same Shed that contained Saber’s summoning circle and where she would eventually be brought into the world in the future and where the person supply Saber all of her mana ( Irisviel )spent much of her time.
Avalon is a divine construct and was likely resonating with the location and thus actively preventing Shiro from killing himself by forcibly creating new magic circuits.
The reason why Sakura could become heir was due to Makiri family Attribute being Binding.
This didn't only change her Element Imaginary Numbers into Water, but also made it easyer for her to inherit the Matou crest.
Also Imagine how powerfull Sakura could have been if she had been heir.
Her Element and Origin were Imaginary Elements and unlike Shirou, she had very high potential as a Mage.
Illya suffered the second most next to irisviel who got only a max of 8 years of life in zero. That's worst than any fate anyone else gets due to how short and limited their time was to do literally anything
Both only get more time in kalied by not listening to grandpa Ashe and running for the hills of fuyuki
Magecraft pedigree is awesome I'm learning so much about fairies and the supernatural world. However elementals are perfect I believe it all the process is complex oh mageblood families live great lives.
Another fantastic lesson. Thank you professor dai!. Alway wonder how this played a part in magecraft. Keep up the great work
I'm getting familiar with grimoire magic, but I want to learn more about the other systems as well
I think it would be interesting to have a mage who has very low potential but aims to be the absolute strongest perhaps they could be a Sisyphus like character living an entire life of futile struggle or maybe against All odds they could find a innovative way to succeed.
You just described Waver. Very low potential, aim to revolutionize magecraft and become a great Magus, struggle all his life to find an innovative way to succeed. And in the ends it only proves how much there are not really "innovative ways" to succeed in Magecraft. Waver is a an incredibly good teacher that elevate the level of his students much higher than anyone else, a shrewd business man and an excellent analyst of Magecraft. However, Waver, like many others, cannot be a great Magus, no matter how much they try and how many methods they use, because he is simply too weak and does not have a unique specificity to compensate. That's the reality of the Nasuverse.
@@gabrieldoyen692 Waver is doing his best to actually preserved magecraft by making his students understand his teaching of modern magecraft theory. Most mages especially the nobility or those in the older bloodline disregard the idea of adapting within the growing mundane society. Not acknowledging the fact that their sorcery are literally on the verge of dying as mankind continuously separating itself from the unknown and towards logic. Not only Waver teaching his students with his studies but also making them more act like actual human instead the usual haughtiness as a cold inhuman person. But this process is slow and it'll may take some time before it take effects to the next generation if they actually accepted Waver wisdom.
Of all the mages in fate I'd have to say it was poor little Sakura that suffered the most. Zoken took a bright happy little girl and intentionally and completely broke her.
I'm still on the camp that the Ritsuka family were studying body swap Magecraft to reach the root but instead created Gender Bend Magecraft.
Honestly wish we got more on the edefelt story. They hardly bring up the edefelt sisters or that war as we still don't know which hassan could explode your head without trying. A mini flashback to it would be nice.
Kayneth was screwed in many ways from his house going under to how deermud couldn't keep it in his pants and tell his master to keep women away from him.
Apoc those masters were honestly pointless. The manga even only gives them a chapter or two and even then they are non existent fgo could have used them for insert master stories like paper moon but no they just make up new ones or grab lev. Wasted opportunity to use the verse side they keeo under lock and key
Magus life is hard and expensive which is why luvia can steal so many magic uses with money.
Last time I was so early, even the Barthomeloi was still new.
Last time I was so early the Escardos have not even started to put the plan for Thia together.
Was wondering what a half human half Heroic Spirit was called
Pseudo servant usually.
@@OtakuDaiKun but those are more like servants taking/possessing over a living being. Would consider Erice more of a Demi than a quasi and apposed to Mash being a demi while she's more closer to a psuedo
@@carlosgarza400 She's the only one of her kind.
@@OtakuDaiKun Ngl I thought that the mc of prototype was Arthur's daughter when I first watched it 10 years ago(?)
Watching this video has me wondering about another topic. Has the nasuverse ever discussed the laws mages must follow. I know the obvious one with not revealing magecraft to the normal people but have they ever discussed the others?
Not that I'm aware of.
5:38 ...Culminating in the *FAILURE* that is Shinji Matou. I couldn't agree more
Really interesting 😮
Huh....I am kinda amazed that it's possible to have a child from a divine servant in the Nasuverse. So if you got with Ishtar, Parvati, Ereshkigal, and Kama.....
Anyway, sounds divine.
Your lessons are always dai onii-chan
WAIT!!! Luvia is from Finland?! I had no idea Fate had anything from Finland other than Louhi as one of the spirits in Sitonai.
Im a Finn if my reaction didn't give thst away
If there is a way to restructure magic circuit like shiro did... there must be also way to create magic circuits otherwise magic family's can never improve their magic circuits
Any research them into that would probably lead to immediate destruction of the family by the mage association, so they would keep their tenuous balance of power intact
One thing Im curious about is the Holy Grail itself. I believe you'vw done the war but not the Grail itself. Id like to know the difference between the original Grail and the grail of the 4th and 5th wars corrupted by angra mainu.
Pretty sure it's the same grail, except that it wouldn't try to grant your wish through destruction.
It really is very interesting to know how pedigree really plays into these relationships between the Mages which only p***** me off more because of what happened with Kirschtaria dad seriously, to damage, generations of his family own work for a stupid jealousy that's stupid, fool he was lucky they weren't ruined a 1000 years worth of secrets almost completely gone I mean, can't some of them make up their own d*** mind already Do you want to entrust your work to the next generation or not if you don't want to, then don't have children if you can't reach the root in your lifetime, you're better off just not pursuing Magecraft at all if you don't want to have your kids do it.
Oh Tokiomi, no matter how much Rin loved him, how much FGO tried to redeem him in other depictions I’ll always see him as much as fault for what happened to Sakura. Also are you telling me there’s a younger Twin Luvia!?
Yes.
im curious about the obscure circuits are they like magic circuits with an extra function?
Could you give me more context? When do I mention obscure circuits.
@@OtakuDaiKun you said that aoko's magic circuits rotate
@@monsoul777 I mentioned Aoko's circuits could rotate. It's the only time I've heard of something like that.
@@OtakuDaiKun well damn. though could be an interesting concept to expand on in another mage centric series
Inheriting the magic crest might kill you. Even if you’re a blood relative, the process is fatal. Isn’t Magecraft fun?😂😭
nice nice
I wonder how good is Shirou as potential father from eugenic POV. Rin and Luvia are interested in him and I suspect that they are considering something like that.
For using heroic spirit to give bloodline the boost, female mage and male servant would be way better combination as 9 months of pregnancy is way longer than war time span. There is also matter of potential death in said war, once again mother being mage is better solution as they can summon, get knocked up and resign from participating or to maximize potential gain master and mother are 2 different people. Sister of the master gets pregnant straight after summoning and thing proceed normally so even if they don't will they have consolation prize.
Last thing I wonder is Artoria and if she is eligible to have kids despite not possessing anybody because of her unique nature. Her children would very likely be very potent magically.
I might be wrong here, but isn't it possible for members of the Church to have children that spontaneously manifest magic circuits? I recall reading that Kirei's own potential for magecraft was a blessing from the divine sacrament upon Risei for his lifetime of service to God, with the magic circuits gifted by the blessing being unable to be inherited by Kirei's own children.
I would need more details on that. I suspect it's not actually a blessing, but that's how Risei interprets it.
Shinji and his dad didn’t get circuits, but his creep of an uncle Kariya did? WTF.
You saying that like all of the matou aren't creeps
In one way or another kariya was the best of the matous, he wasn't an actual bad person
You implying Shinji isn’t a creep
Kariya's still not the best mage. The worms wouldn't have eaten him if he could have provided better.
@@A_itsar we don't know what Shinji's Daddy Dearest was like. But it's safe to assume he was also a creep as well
So... How does having no land deteriorate circuits exactly?
It only deteriorates if your magecraft is tied to a specific land.
Mages can strengthen themselves by aligning with specific territories. I imagine a fertile land will help with strong mage babies.
So, in a sense, they get better circuits from their environment?
@@laioszafeiriou4388 Not necessarily within a lifetime, but from generation to generation.
Do you think the mages will cease to exist one day in Fate?
Isn’t that the story behind Fate Extra?
@@michaelmooney7572 No
Yes, unless mages adapt to new technology, like spiritron hacking.
@@OtakuDaiKun what is almost Impossible for the biggest part right?
