    In this video we will teach a step by step approach to learning how to do a box slide on skis or grind as some people call it. We start the video by teaching you how to do a 5050 on a box. Once you have learned to slide the box using the 5050 we start practising the late box slide using counter rotation. When you stomped the late box slide we move on to sliding the entire box side ways to straight landing. Then we finish of the tutorial doing the box slide to fakie. Good luck, you will stomp it soon!
    Check our full tutorial pack that will teach you all of the most essential skills you need in order to rock in the park.

    This really helped. I was developing a fear of boxes because I wasn't doing them right and I kept falling. Thank you so much.

    Very helpful video! Every question I had was explained, but I have another tip you could add. A common error on boxes is to try to lean and dig an edge into the box rather than riding parallel to the box. You show someone falling because their skis are too far apart, but also a lot of beginners will try to lean like a turn. Maybe in an update video you can add some advice on countering that! You guys are awesome! :)

    This is really helpful. I had an impromptu visit to the chillfactore a little while ago and tried to do a 5050 with no instruction. Needless to say I repeatedly smacked my head on it and went sliding face first down the slope. Someone at the bottom said that I had dedication though so I'm gonna take it as a win!

      +rsimpson79 yea thats cool! Have in mind to buy some playful soft(ish) skis so you can still have fun ollying, buttering etc like one can do one snowboard a bit easier than skis. This way your transition may be easier.

      Look at the end of the rail/box once you hop on. It'll kinda help you to maintain balance.

      +kjell smeyers Thanks for your question. Well here on youtube I have just posted a couple of videos from our Beginer and intermediate pack to show what the whole video packs looks like. At the website there is a lot more of the in-depth beginner to intermediate videos going through a whole lot of technique on how to get solid foundation of tricks and base skills that most other tricks builds upon.

  • @jonulfeng
    @jonulfeng 8 років тому

    Jens, wont the shifty technique make it near impossible to do switchups and 270´s etc. later since your body is facing down the hill and not along the rail?

    • @StompItTutorials
      @StompItTutorials  8 років тому +2

      Really really good question! So this video is good for getting started but once you got it down this way next steps would be to start locking using both shifty tech and rotation on.
      Shifty technique is really nice for backside rotation of since when you lock the ski and chest is point down the rail you have a whole 90° start the spin with before you body is facing the same direction of the skis. If you use the shifty technique you could do pretty lame looking frontside switchups without having to lock but any how I go into this in some serious detail in the Beginner Tutorial pack if you wanna now more over at stompittutorials.com/
      Happy with the answer?

    • @jonulfeng

      I understand, and when i think about that does make it a lot simpler to learn. It makes total sense now that i think about it.

    I find doing a box slide to fakie easier

    • @StompItTutorials
      @StompItTutorials  7 років тому +1

      It is. But most people tend to lean back way to much when doing box slide to switch so I try to teach to straight first since it often helps people to get a better posture from the beginning and it can help to avoid bruises on the hips :P

    man great video. however i have a problem skiing out of the rail in a forward position, I always tend to land sideways at the end like i am unable to get my 90 rotation out of the rail once i reach the end any tips on this? i can 180 out fine as shown in the video tho but have a hard time 90'ing back out forward. Ive seen people peddle out in other tutorials or is my solution just to really force myself to pop at the end to do the rotation
