I just learned boxes too, took me about a week and a hip bruise but it was worth it. Here are some tips which can hopefully help you guys (not that I am an expert). I kept falling mostly because of fear so I was going too slow and it didn't work, so I just decided to stop thinking about it and just put some speed and it really worked I started hitting the boxes without problem, one more thing which I think really helps me whenever I turn 90° I immediately start to put weight on my front foot. Also having your skis wider helped me a lot. Hopefully this helps you out a little bit.
I started hitting the small jumps with your video tutorial and it was awesome. I avoided the box slides as I didn't know how, but now I am ready to try. Can't wait!! Thanks Jen!
I got my box slide the day I watched this video. The explanation is amazing and seeing somebody else do it really boosts your confidence. The comments were really helpful as well. Thank you all!
What a beautiful background for a lesson!! Where I’ve started skiing at a little hill in Nova Scotia, Canada, doesn’t look like this! But it does have a box and I’ve been wanting to learn how to do more than just ski over it straight - this is very helpful, thank you!!
I wish I could slide boxes properly. :( When I tried to learn I always slammed on my hip. I can send most boxes straight through (rainbow, up flat down, etc.) But I look and feel dumb doing it. Thanks, Jens for the hand in front of the knee tip, hopefully when winter comes It'll fix my problems. :)
eXole the only way to learn how to stay locked on rails is just tons of repetition and looking and the very end of the rail. It is fine if you can’t complete every rail all of the time even with many years of park experience
@@exole4670 Thats true. On the pipe no matter what it is made of, you will need more speed ofc more speed than on a box. But like in this video, start on the middle on the rail, and when the rail gets higher, step on the side of the rail
Roger was indeed ripping (and representing for us side-ways sliders), but Jens is SUPER-COACH!!!! Great Video! Thanks for making skiing FUN again. PLEASE keep up the good work. YEWWWWW!
Another awesome video... I love watching you take a "beginner" and starting from step 1! It's cool watching you do it and talk technique, but bringing in a true beginner takes it to a whole new level of comprehension for me. Yewww!!!
It took me a year to learn this n you taught him in 2 h o u r s. Also no one has ever told me about the hand knee thing ever and I’m doing down pipe rails entering street now. No wonder he learned it so fast with that trick. I’ve fallen backwards or forwards too many times to count
I finally did it yesterday! It’s actually pretty easy to do without falling once you get over the fear of the first attempt. I still can’t do it very well and I fail a lot but most of the time I don’t fall from it. Just try it on a short box very low to the ground you’ll feel more comfortable but it’ll take a LOT of tries to master it every time
He has muscles and flexibility for all of this. Ask me how I know 😀 when this in the video looks super easy, in real life with a LOT of flexibility problems and starting this at an age of 37 is quite a challenge I must tell. Engineers like me don't have to be strong but when you want this... Well, you gotta prepare yourself first 🙂 LOVE your videos mate! All the best.
These videos are fantastic. If you end up doing this series again, It would be great if you had someone without jumping/rails experience, even if it is on a snowboard. I struggle a lot more than this guy seems to hahaha
My learning curve was skiing onto the box, handling the breaking, keep skiing. I'm from the alps and ski since i'm 3 though 😁 All i'm saying is get comfortable on your skis and once you feel confident hit the jumps and rails one step at the time :) don't skip steps
Thanks for this video! I'm learning to ride box and this video is detailed so it actually helps. I was trying to figure out where to my weight at on my skies for awhile lol. Now I know what how to do it the right way when sliding sideways. Your video is ✨.
Waited to try this last day and now I'm sitting in the car on my way home with a sprained finger. I think next season I'll get myself an instructor to help me personally becoming better friends with the park.
Hey Jens, thanks for those vids, I'm really enjoying them a lot. I'd love you to teach me some beginner's tricks but don't have the time for a full camp. Any chance to book you for a day in Laax?
I want to learn how to do a down flat rail. I can do an up flat down but not like a down flat that’s 3 feet high. I can’t compress on the rail and I slip off because I’m afraid to lock my skis to stay on the rail because I don’t want to catch an edge and fall on the flat part
love this video concept! Maybe chose somone less experienced in park riding, so we get to see more mistakes and corrections. No hard feelings, Roger :D
Are you skiing the Bent Chetler 100 in this video? I'm int he market for a new pair of all ,ountain skis that are still playful enough for park jumps and boxes (but not rails). How do you like them?

Stomp It Tutorials hey! I would like to hear of no sliding is also possible with normal skis :)
He skipped the part where you crash and get hip bruises
I know he fully skipped that essential step... :P
happened to me 2 days ago Hahahah
yep he skipped the mandatory hip bruise part. xD
I finally got it after 2 days on a. Uphill box .been skiing for 2 yrs.
@@dlou4647 i had been skiing for over 6 years, still scared of anything even remotely associated with boxes or jumps
keep up the videos with Rodger it is cool seeing him learn
Yeah
I asked Roger if he would be up to the challenge and continue learning in front of the camera and he is thinking about it. Stay tuned :P
Stomp It Tutorials if rodger says no, pleaaaase start eith another dude and teach him. I learn so much seeing people actually learn from zero.
The concept is cool and super helpful for learning. But Roger needs a mic so we can hear what he's saying.
Honestly I just learn by having some one say send it and then I go for it

Te0dosko thanks helped me out to do uphill boxes
Yesterday I hit a pipe rail for the first time, without ever hitting a box
@@krakt4868 ballsy
Just doing boxes is easy, but doing a 50/50 is a lot harder.
@@dlou4647 what is an uphill box
This is the best box slide tutorial I have seen.
Thank you :D
If everyone were as chill as Mr. Stomp It, there would be no wars in the world.
Avoided boxes and rails like the plague for 6 years... did my first box slide today thanks to this video! Thank you!
I started hitting the small jumps with your video tutorial and it was awesome. I avoided the box slides as I didn't know how, but now I am ready to try. Can't wait!! Thanks Jen!

Best tutorials!
Please make a video on locking on cylindrical rails.
another great tutorial!
my 8 year old son learned his box slides and 180's watching your videos.
thanks!
The guy at 8:13 is like: oh shit is this live ? I should move out of the camera
Lmao
Yes I like when you teach others because then I can compare if I am making the same mistakes and then how to fix them

CoNZ the most helpful Tip to hit a box is to put pressure on front foot. With this, you'll not fall on your hip :)
4:50 look towards the landing. Great tip
next rails?
Its basically the same thing.
@@StompItTutorials it isnt i can slide every box and pipe but i cant even stay on a rail.

It is kind of different for me to do boxes since the ones at the parks I go to are higher up so you have to jump on them.
