Anger, rage and despair cryed out in the violin and drums. Tears at the soul. This has slowly crept up through the years to reach the top, above all others... Well then there is La villa strangiato, they can share the spot in my book.
The lyrics were inspired by Neil reading the story of Ernest Hemingway being invited to write a speech for JFK’s inauguration ceremony. When he sat down to right it, he couldn't come up with a single word for 3 hours. And that's when he knew he'd lost it. This is why ”the sun will rise no more” and ”the bell tolls for thee ” are in the lyrics.
'Signals' was the album that got me into Rush in 1982 when I was 16! Some of the older guy's didn't like it at first and blamed it for Rush using 'TOO MUCH KEYBOARD', but I STILL ARGUE that 'Moving Pictures' a year earlier had JUST AS MUCH KEYBOARD as 'Signals' just the OLD SCHOOL 1970's style. I needed this album as a DOORWAY to becoming a Rush fan. After this I collected all of the 8 earlier studio albums, and bought every new one as they came out! I love this album! It defines the music of the 1980's for me! I think it's a MASTERPIECE, and MOST of those 'OLDER GUY'S' have also come to except that FACT!!
The only Rush that I wasn't concentration on what Neil was playing and doing. I imagine myself in the control room at the studio while Ben is strumming this. Absolutely breath taking.
Great choice again. Earlier, I was not paying attention on this song but I totally agree with you. I know this song was only played live on few occasions. Hope your will do few songs from Grace Under Pressure next or Everyday glory from Counterparts album...I have not seen anyone has done reactions video.
Hi Tone! To me Rush made sometimes their songs a bit like a classical composure with all these sometimes weird changes and so. Nice to see that you have enjoyed your Rush journey! Thanks for your reaction!
While I love Second Nature, I have never heard anyone describe it as their favorite Rush song. What a testament to their evolving sound over a 40 year career! Since that and Losing It are your favorites, I highly recommend going to hdtracks.com and buying the hi-res versions of Signals and Hold Your Fire. There a nuances that I promise you’ve never heard off a CD or MP3. When I got the hi-res version of Mission, there were entire string parts that I’d never heard before, even though I’d been listening to the song for 30 years, probably over 500 times. I wept when I finally heard it for the first time.
Am I going mad? I'm sure I saw you react to this a couple of nights ago? In fact, I'm sure I commented on what a beautiful song it was. Anyway, loved listening to it a second time🎸😃❤. Love from Scotland.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752 man im telling you... there is nothing like rush! there is music and there is rush! so many songs that send me up to space everytime!

dont forget "Witch hunt"
I’ve listened to that song hundreds of times and it gets to me every time. Hits home now.

Tragic! I felt it
and almost 45 years later......I still weep at this song. Peart was the best.
Broke my heart when he passed. So many fun memories trying to air drum with The Professor.
This song is equally beautiful and sad. R.I.P. Neil😢

People were excited because this song was performed for the first time during their last tour.
I was fortunate to experience losing it live on that tour
Also a fantastic violin solo by Ben Meek
Ben Mink on the Electric Violin is a great touch for this song. Also most people miss Neil on the Xylophone at the beginning
This song and Available light are in my top 5 Rush songs. Some of Neil's best and deepest lyrics those 2.
Come on man there is still plenty of good Rush songs to react to!!! We miss you bro :P

Absolutely breath taking.
Words, other than Neil's lyrics, will not do justice to this song, or to Rush's magnificence. This is them at perhaps their most sweetly melancholic.
The solo was electric violin played by Ben Mink best known for collaborations with Canadian singer K.D Lang.
When this album came out , I picked up on the Genesis riff “All in a Mouses Night” for this track.
Nice reaction. Keep it up.
Ben Mink played the electric violin on this song meaning that for once, Rush was a 4 piece band.

A long time Fav; great song.
People my age will get this big time. Great track with poignant lyrics by Neil.

Thank you M&M 🤘
Brought another tear to me eye.
Along with Second Nature, favourite Rush song.
One of my favourites on the album and one of my favourites.

It was a violin all the way... there is a great live version too
❤❤❤
🙏❤🌹 Neil 🌹❤🙏
In your video when you reacted to Between The Wheels, you said that the reaction to Losing It would be banned in the US? Why is that? Thanks!
Sad. I always saw it as one of their racist songs.
Eh? What the fuck you on about ,bruv?
Possibly one of the most boring songs Rush has ever recorded.
The fate that awaits us all😢
