Welcome to the Expanded Overview video for the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide for 2024 version of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition ( D&D 5.24 , D&D 5.5 or D&D r5e ).
I think it's great that WtoC has put together a DM's Guide for beginners. There are already lots of beginner's guides for DMs published by various publishers, and it seems that this guide incorporates the descriptions from those. Some people also say that there aren't as many DMs as there are people who want to play. It's good that the official D&D publisher is thinking of ways to 'increase the number of DMs'. I can see why some people think that 'such beginner-oriented guidance should be done with the starter set'. For those who started DM in 2024 and want to take it one step further, it might be a good idea to get the 2014 5e DMG second-hand or when it's on sale.
@29:00, the magic item tracker. Is that per person or per group of 3-4 characters? When it is in Tier 1 and it says 6 common, does that include healing potions? Does that include scrolls they made? Basically, do one use items count as one of the 6 common items (or uncommon or whatever)? Because if not - that would seem WAY TOO HIGH! How about things with charges? Does each charge count as one of the 4 uncommon items? Is the explainer on how to track in the text, and I just missed it?
@Zr0din I agree it does seem high for the early tiers of play to have that much magic items. Especially since the core of the system was designed so the players didn't need magic items. I personally don't count consumables for magic items. Player's tend to hoard them.
You seem very annoyed with the art and use of ink in the DMG. Think of the eco tank printers 😂 Seriously though a lot did change if you read the book. It was made to address the big issue that the DMG had with not helping people be a DM in the game. So they succeeded in the only thing a book like this MUST do - teach you how to run the game! Bastions are regulated and the DM is not meant to control them but still has a say about what is made in them. Lastly, the book was made to make being a DM easy and attractive. I know I said a version of that before but it is soo important I had to say it again. Hope things work out great for you.
@leodouskyron5671 I agree with you. An they succeeded in refocusing the book towards the basics. My goal was to make it clear that the book is only really covering the basics + bastions ( which could have been done better ). Thank you for the feedback , sometimes i get carried away.

I do agree.
The issue is it's basic on basic knowledge.
