The reason why they made him act that way is because it was when stitch barely went/got to earth so he does not know how to act.

I think the opening was amazing. It was different, and how many times do the castle get changed? Yeah, not a lot. It’s just my opinion, but personally, my favorite trip to Disney was when that ride opened. I loved taking pictures in front of the castle.

Yeah, but the tp castle would ruin it for most people. I feel like that would be disappointing to first time Disney visitors to have that in all their pictures.

I think the point is that a lot of people plan trips and can only afford one day to visit Disney with their family...it would really suck to see such a mess after spending a lot of money. I know I was personally upset when I got to visit Hong Kong Disneyland and found out that the castle was under construction.

I went to Disney World probably within 6 months of Alien Encounter being released to the public. At the time I watched the Disney channel and remember seeing the behind the scenes spotlight of this ride. I told my mom, that was the only thing I didn't want to ride but I couldn't remember the name of it. My mom told me something to the extent of... it's not this one. Regardless my mom would have made me anyway because "we drove all this way and bought the tickets- you're riding this!". We did it and I hated it, it was so scary as a 7 year old. Now it's kind of a cool memory.

    • @EEvtg

Na it was fantastic, especially the pre-show. They should have had a cast member outside warning families with young kids, because people don't listen to signs. Everyone within its target audience loved it. It wasn't for little kids or people that hate scary movies, it was for young adults+ who wanted a thrilling and immersive experience.

So, starting by the premise that I do not mean to offend anyone by expressing my opinion, but I really don't agree with this list (except for the last reason). To me this ride is okay. Not bad but not amazing either. I'm a Disneyland Paris annual passholder and we have Stitch Live, which is just as dumb and way more boring (no amazing Stitch animatronic, which I believe deserved to be praised in this video). Still I love going to the main park. I love that huggy joyful Disney feeling it gives you as you enter, because you know that feeling like a kid again is what Disney's Magic Kingdom parks are about. You make goo goo eyes, laugh and cry happy tears and marvel at things the way a kids would. If I knew that such a happy innocent place would host a ride such as ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, I'd feel unsettled by the sole presence of it and I'd have a very hard time letting loose my inner child, for I'd know the magic of the park would be overshadowed by that only, extremely scary and gory ride. Don't get me wrong, I think Alien Encounter is a brilliant and very thrilling attraction, but to me it doesn't fit in any Magic Kingdom park because of its dark nature. That's exactly what I feel about those horrifyingly disturbing scare mazes at Hong Kong Disneyland too. As for Stitch himself, yeah, he can be an awkward presence at times, I'm slightly annoyed at how he also invaded the Tiki Room at Tokyo, but at least he's a very joyful and energetic character. I believe that, in the ride, he behaved exactly the way he did at the beginning of the movie, when insulting the aliens and tricking the machines before breaking out. Also let's not forget that, in the movie, he was about to blast a frog, punch Nani in the face, he even hit some dude with a beach ball, a dog with a slushie cup and so on. Luckily he wasn't in the mood for doing the same to guests in the ride :)

I would say that the city motif of tomorrowland wasn't lost with stitch and the other attractions. They just changed to different places. Stitch turned into a police station, monster's Inc became a comedy club, and buzz lightyear is is the department of defense. Minus the last one, those are also things found in a city so I would argue the motif is still there

I actually loved this ride.... the chili dog part made me GAG but I loved Skippy and thought he was the cutest animatronic. (besides the little snow babies in the frozen ride.) Seeing the scrapped animatronics broke my heart. So happy I got to ride it one last time before it was closed. This ride was a big part of my Disney World experience that I will never forget :,)

My first trip to Disney world was my freshman year. My friend was with me, and Stitch’s great escape was the first ride that she wanted to take me on, as it was one of her favorites. I loved it, I really did. Call it a cheap follow up, but it holds a special place in my heart as my first taste of the happiest place on earth ❤️

I actually liked this ride, but was unfortunately unable to go on last March when I went to Disney World for a day (and yes, it was open then). And while I don’t think the deteriorated Stitch animatronic was terrifying to look at, I did think it was “eerie”.
Also, I honestly thought it was clever and humorous how they opened up the Stitch ride on its first day.

I have an idea about what could replace this ride. It could be like Guardians Mission Breakout in Disneyland where you go into The Collector’s collection, and in the first preshow you see the guardians in their cages who tell the guests their plan to escape, then you enter the next room to see another one of The Collector’s creatures. It could even be the very same alien from Alien Encounter in the tube. When you’re restrained in the seats, the power goes out due to the Guardians escaping and now all the cages are open including the creature in the room with you and you’re stuck in the seats with the power out. Maybe Rocket tries to quickly get the power back on to save the guests. So instead of using the old and controversial actors form the first ride, we can have the Guardians in the screens talking to you. I mean in the Guardians ride at Disneyland, there’s a paper on the Collectors desk that say XS tech on it so there is a connection between the two. Who knows. Now some problems I can see is that many kids like Guardians of the Galaxy so it could be misleading and then it could Alien Encounter all over again, and also having a Guardians ride that only has the Guardians for one scene and focusing on an alien but I think that’s one cool idea. The more I think about it, the Collection could also be a perfect place to have Easter eggs in the tanks and collections from past rides just like they have at Disneyland, which can house Skippy and even Stitch references.

Not bad, it was rumored however that the ride would be replaced with a Wreck it Ralph VR race car ride, not too dissimilar with The Void’s current concept I’m sure. It’s not going to be the catalyst for the New Tomorrowland comeback, as it still feeds into the cartoon narrative, but I’ll take it if the ride is not a rehash like the previous abomination, and if it’s... well, you know... actually good, unlike the previous abomination...

I’m going to be honest, the show portion of Stitch’s Great Escape scared me in real life. However though, I loved the preshows, even the second one was my favorite! Because of Skippy and the Donut Guy. If Stitch’s Great Escape was still here, I’d make a few edits. No restraints, add ground lights when the power is cut, like at Tough To Be A Bug, and instead Stitch would steal someone’s churro, and burp the cinnamon in our face instead.

I remember going on that ride when I was younger and the restraints didn’t adjust properly to my shoulders because I sat in the seat weird so when Stitch started to jump around they would suddenly press into my shoulders, it hurt but I was ok in the end.

Such a bold move for Disney to have such a scary ride intended for teens. Plus, it looked cool as hell. A huge juxtaposition from the usually kid-friendly rides nearby.

I think there should be a more adult theme park, with scary attractions and insane rides which could include things like what Disney used to have (Alien Encounter). As I am young, I never had the chance to see Alien Encounter, and I find that very sad as it seems like something I’ll never get to experience.. I’d definitely go to a theme park with frightening attractions in it.

I absolutely loved stitch's great escape as a kid, we got to go to Disney I would want to ride it. And I actually got to ride it one last time in 2017 right before they closed it. For me when I was a kid the ride was more of a spectacle, it was just amazing to be that close to the animatronics, seeing all the different parts in play, and the 5D immersion of the ride, and it was just a bonus to see one of my favorite characters attached to it. I grew up to work in the film industry and attribute some of my early childhood interest in the behind the scenes work to that attraction
