- Abandon XJ6 abandon Vanden Plas exploration. And I walk through how to start an old vehicle after not having been started for years.
Idle control valve needs to be cleaned and air flow mass sensor. I hear a noisy fuel pump. All fuses need to be checked and replaced. This car has life left in it. In the right hands it can become daily driver. I drive my 96 XJ 6 with over 300,000 miles on engine, transmission, and differential. These cars are great for the right people.
Yep sold it to a guy a while back and now it’s his daily driver.👍😁
@@RussShawTV These are great news. Let's hope the new owner cherishes his old Jag and join the 300,000 mile club with his car. Yes, these cars can keep going and going. Very well made machines with the right investment by Ford at the time. Even 50 years from now these models will start up, whether they are in the museum or in someone's barn.
Holy cow, those were FUZZY DICE! Haven't seen them in years! We had 2 of those cars, but they were not the Vanden Plas, and those engines are great!

Yeah man! My son always wanted fuzzy dice. And he got fuzzy Seahawks dice! 😁👍
The high fluctuating idle may be with the blinking indicator lights. Main cpu under passenger side under dash panel. Mine had bad solder connection on cpu connector. That car could be parted out. parts are worth alot. Try resetting by unhooking the batter for five minutes. ttry again.
Installed a whole new battery in it no change. My CPU is actually in the trunk. Exposed to moisture. May pull it out clean up the connections. Heck maybe I’ll throw it in a bag of rice 😂 whatever works 🔧

Why did it get Parked? Clean the drain out or you will get water in your Fuel tank
Idle and lights flashing may be a bad ECU or dirty contacts. Its under passenger lower dash cover.
Idle on mine was reeving to 1200 rpm. it was the ECU. auds wash and 303 on all contats, rubber, belts, plastic.

What is the size of the battery?
Sorry man I don’t remember. This was a long time ago. Sold the car while back. I remember measuring the battery to make sure it fit.
If you watch the video you could pause it and see if the group size is on the top of the battery.

I have the same Jag be battery all comes on but won’t turn over to start. Help!
How long has it been since you replaced the battery? Are you in a warm or cold climate?
