- just some edits I did on my phone. FWIW, my favorite Batman themes are Elfman's, Walker's and Goldenthal's, incidentally the first three in this video. to be super clear, I'm not making some value judgement about which theme is best suite for this particular scene--each composer made what was best suited for their respective project, and I'm sure Giacchino will kill it come March. I'm just having fun editing shit.

@@logancady4359 it’s meant to work. They took a lot of inspiration from the 60s series and modernized it in a dark way. He’s kinda meant to look a little goofy as he’s clearly a guy in a batsuit at this stage in his career. Almost like he’s a glorified cos player
This shows us two things:
1. Every composer understood the character and made the theme as timeless as possible. That's why all of these still work.
2. Matt Reeves understood Batman perfectly. That's why every theme fits his imagery.

I hadn't heard of lorne Balfe before he did the music for the adaptation of the wheel of time, and criticisms of the show aside, I think he did a great job making music that is appropriate without being generic - definitely a composer to look out for.

I’d flip the :45 and 1 minute one. Nolan Batman is more of the vigilante feel, BvS Batman is much harsher so more of a menace. Imo

Honestly Lego Batman fit the best for me. You have epic running chase music in the beginning and then when he starts to grapple up and then you have the orchestra bit come in as the climax of the scene is about to come up.
It wasn't made for this movie but it fits so damn well.

Yeah, Lorne Balfe's score is definitely the best one here (in my opinion) but the others are really good too.
Even though all of these themes fit pretty well, the standout is the 1966 theme. The fact that it's the only version to stop when Batman whips out his grapple gun and then start back up when he's pulled upwards is amazing.

It really doesn’t? Like, not even close. Especially when BTAS itself was modeled after the Burton Films, and the Snyder films took the most direct comic inspiration design wise of any of the film series.

@@Commander_Shepard. Batman goes back and forth on that all the time, depending on the storyteller. In the first appearance, he killed a bunch of people. It was only when the publisher decided to gear him more toward kids that he stopped. And then it slowly became a kind of moral point. I think, though, the better Batman stories embrace that rule. It makes him a better Batman. Without it, he's just the Punisher. But he's worse, because at least the Punisher stories address the profound moral implications of murdering criminals. When Batman does it, it's almost always because the writer thinks it doesn't matter. And that just sucks.
Pattinson himself actually said he took inspiration from Batman: The Mask of The Phantasm to build the parallels and tone for his character. You can literally see the dynamic between Bruce and Alfred that they had in that movie in certain aspects and scenes. The voice itself as well is obviously no Conroy but at least its not a Bale, the voice is a whisper, it’s off putting and menacing.

1995 was not only severely underrated as a film but that theme was just epic.
Honestly, Batman has not had a bad movie theme yet.
If you legitimately think that Batman & Robin is underrated, you're either severely blinded by nostalgia due to having grown up watching it, or you don't know how to critically examine a piece of media. That movie gets all the hate it deserves for trying to be a sequel to Batman '66 over a decade after the general tone and image of Batman threw that campy "Comics Code Authority" tier shit in the trash.

My personal favorite Batman theme
My favorites are Shirley Walker (0:15) because her music on top of this scene makes it reminiscent of the scene in Phantasm when the cops are running to chase Batman after he's unmasked, & Neil Hefti (1:45) because his music on top of this scene makes it feel like some grand chase comedy (kinda like Blues Brothers or Mad Mad Mad Mad World) where Batman means well, but this time he *_majorly_* screwed up & riled up every cop in the precinct. 😆
I also quite like Elliot Goldenthal on it (0:30).
I love Shirley's theme in general (it's probably my favourite out of all of them), but I love how it fits here: it shapes the scene into something that feels more heroic, as opposed to the 'suspenseful thriller' vibe the other ones give off.

The new theme by Michael has become the new definitive for me now.
I think Shirley walkers Batman theme is the perfect version it takes the camp of the 1989 and makes more serious while still heroic and dark

I really like all of them but, I’m especially glad you included Elliot goldenthals theme cause many people skip that when it comes to Batman music/tributes. I mean love or hate Batman forever and Batman and Robin; they’re still apart of Batman history and personally I believe the music should be recognized

Adding a bit onto this: Everyone knew Batman before the movie, but the movie's portrayal of Batman made people realize that he is a serious character and helped them identify some core values about Batman that they previously didn't know as they don't read comics.

Lorne Balfe's score went harder than it should have. All the scores are fantastic but something about Balfe's just really works with the scene.
Theme sounds too generic to me. But it has been at least a decade of generic themes so if you're younger it fits your expectations. So I get it.

I confess I don't think The Batman was a perfect movie, but Giacchino truly continued the legacy and did not disappointed with this new theme.
Soundtracks are amazing., and how music changes the mood of a scene is even more so. The Adam West era Batman theme made the scene instantly funny.

Elliot Goldenthal's theme is, in my opinion, very underrated. I know that Elfman's theme is the classic one, but... I don't know, since my childhood Goldenthal's theme stuck on my head much more than Elfman's, despite the fact that I'm not able to choose which one I prefer.
That Nolan theme hits so hard and brings back memories. I was like oh sh** I thought I was watch a Nolan film for a second lol.
I have to give it to Elfman on this one. Although I was surprised at how well the Batman Forever and Lego Batman scores suited it. Really well done compilation.

There’s so many different themes from the animated films and Arkham games that could work really well in this scene. ESPECIALLY some of the scores done by Christopher Drake.

@@thekramer1097 It’s insane how good it is. Christopher Drake is in my top three favorite composers and to me his music is the sound of DC. For years he composed a plethora of music for many different DC projects, not just Batman. It’s a crime that he goes so unrecognized.
I absolutely love the Animated Series theme! Having grown up watching it on DVD and idolizing Batman, it just sounds so strong, cool, and nostalgic for me. The 89 theme has a similar effect on me. I wasn't born in the 90s, but 1989 Batman was my mom's favorite Batman movie (if only for Keaton and Nicholson), and the Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Superman the Animated Series will always live rent-free in my head

I just love the idea of him punching Gordon and booking it out of there with the 60s theme playing in the background as he makes his daring escape

I really like how much of a detective this Batman is. Aways using gadgets and being observant. And his belt looks like he actually needs it. You can tell he carries stuff in it.
