This really highlights the fact that the homologation rules require that ALL cars in a manufacturer have to be exactly the same specifications. If the Porsche factory wants to make a change/upgrade, it must be applied to all cars, factory AND privateer. This is different from the eras back in the 70s,80s and 90s when manufacturers upgraded factory cars, but privateer entries were left what became inferior products. What we have now is good for WEC, the fans, the manufacturers and the customer teams.
I absolutely adore the LMH/LMDh category
This is truly one of, if not the best, Periods of Sportscar Racing and we're still at the relative beginning of it
Man this is just awesome, not just because im a Jota fan, but alsooooo thiiis is just pure motorsport, when the private small teams can just battle with constructor teams, not just Jota but Proton had an amazing race and they had some amazing stints.
I’m glad a Porsche won and it wasn’t a Penske. Having grown up in the US and growing up on IndyCar/CART racing I grew up during an era of Penske dominance. I have a lot of respect for Penske because no matter the series (NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, and WEC) they’re always good.
That proton was overtaking one atter another up eau rouge wnd radillion.
The performance of Hertz Team Jota is impressive considering that this race was their one year anniversary of their debut in hypercar .And to have such good results in a relatively short period of time is admirable, but so is how they have adapted to make the jump from lmp2 to hypercar. It is also remarkable from another point of view because it often happens that teams that perform very well in a certain class of car make the jump to the fastest car and fail.
Proton does much better and have less time with the 963. But I do prefer privateers winning over Penske
@@strijdje17 I think that Andlauer was just on another level to everyone else last Saturday.
@@calussy8040 he was fantastic and that Proton deserved better, I was pleased as after the Qatar round I felt they lacked the pace of the other 4 Porsches. Good to see them up there (and thats from a Jota Fan)
Even though Jota won the race I have to tip my hat off to Proton and especially Julien Andlauer. He was was absolutely rapid this race.
Andlauer was my MVP throughout the race
It’s that time of the week again! Race review with Jonah 🎉
Thank you for your support! 👏
I was there for the weekend, had a fantastic experience and even got in the Jota garage before FP3 to see and hear the cars being fired up.
That’s so cool! I bet that was an awesome experience.
@@FormulaJonah it was fantastic! I’ve been following Jota ever since 2015 and I’ve got to know a couple of people on the team who appreciate my support.
Great content. Porsche fan. And owner
Thank you very much! It’s great to hear from another Porsche enthusiast as well!
love your reviews
Happy to hear that!! Thank you 🙏
Fantastic video man, my first race back that I could watch as a whole in a few years, and man, was I treated well.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the race on your return!
I was there and it was a very nice race. I haven't been following the WEC for long, but my love for the sport is growing fast, especially after this weekend. My opinion after the end of the race: Ferrari should have won this, 1-2 for the team which would be a great achievement from last on the grid in HC
I agree with you. And that’s very cool you were there in person!
It was a pleasant surprise. It's hard luck once again for Jenson Button though. I'm sure the potential of overall race victories was one of the reasons he joined the team. I've been aware of Ilott for a few years as one of the f1 youtubers was saying he sould be in f1 whenever a seat would become vacant. This is probably a better opportunity for him these days anyway.
Such a nice video, keep it up :))
Thank you! Will do!
Porsche takes its rightful place in front of the field
Only with BoP help
@@user-swvn3ti2d Just like Ferrari won Le Mans and did well at Imola with the help of the BoP, right?
@@Adriam_i For Le Mans, Ferrari and Toyota were the most affected. It's not like Ferrari was handed a great BoP; they had less weight than Toyota but also less power and energy per stint. Even in Spa, when they took another BoP hit, they were still the fastest but were very unlucky.
@@Thedutchman12 I know, I was just being sarcastic with the guy up there since he's always throwing Porsche hate on all the endurance channels, it's just sick.
@@Adriam_i All VW and Porsche Fanboys are also fans of Red Bull Racing, The Beatles, One Direction and Justin Bieber 🤣🤣🤣
This race was amazing to watch, lots of exciting overtakes and all. Only hypes me up more for the coming 24h of le mans
It definitely was exciting! I also agree that it hypes me up for Le Mans. Endurance racing is in good form this year!
Aswome vid, keep it up!
Thanks, I really appreciate hearing that! Will do!
@@FormulaJonah 😁😁😁
Huge fan of Jota. Congrats to them. I love Estre/Vanthoor, so it’s bittersweet, but they’re still having a great season in the driver lead. Sad for Cadi and BMW GT3’s. Iron Dames had quali and race pace. SC/VC murdered them. Congrats to Proton. McLaren’s looking great. Call I’m Illot tho. What a force. On to Le Mans!!
Can we get a video eventually on Isotta Franschini’s progress? I feel like they’re gonna be another vanwall even tho I do wish them the best
Had this discussion at the track on Saturday, But was informed the Car is actually much better but the drivers are not as good as a lot of the Hypercar Grid.
Thought it was brilliant. Bit like Joest when they ran the 956 - 962 cars.....🤔😊👍
how can we explain that in the last stint this car was faster than ufficial Porsche n.6? Is Estre washed? :D
His lap times were the same as estre laptimes. plus sometimes you have luck in traffic and sometimes you dont. Tire degredation of you push to hard.
Great great team, but I'll say Jonah. They can make the Porsche fast I'd personally doubt they'd change Cadillac but I understand Factory backing means spending less money so that comes into play
Yup, year of the Porsche!
With BoP help
@@user-swvn3ti2d not with bop, have you watched the race ? they got dominated by ferrari so hard they won by pure luck ( red flag )
@@2dank361 In Spa they have with FIA help
Fucking beautiful
Are they going to loosen the grip on Toyota Cadillac Lamborghini Alpine and BMW also so they could keep up
By the time we get to Le Mans, maybe yes, in which case it should be awesome.
I’m wishing for the Caddy Comeback at Lemans
Yeeesss better than Porsche
Caddy has bad luck to have the most memorable crashes in WEC, really sad looking at, knowing how good are they doing in IMSA
It is better to be lucky than good.
I was at the event 💪
Nice! Hope you enjoyed it!
It was a Awesome race
Porsches were definitely not the fastest car on track. Both Ferrari were flying the entire WE. That was insane, and suspicious how the Ferraris were that fast
Ferrari just had a perfect tune, I was really expecting Ferrari to win
4:31 but 2023 during practice in Bahrain the red flag came out after strong wind blew a giant Rolex banner onto the track
Indeed, there has been red flags in WEC after Spa 2022. But my point was about the last time a red flag was introduced in the Race in WEC, which was Spa 2022.
@@FormulaJonah I see, thank you for clarifying
@YHK_YT No problem! Thank you for watching the video!
the most painful moment for Norman Nato😂😂😂
Really. F E?
Hi
Cadillac needs to stop going for such risky moves I want to see Cadillac do good in wec they have the car to fight at the top but they keep getting involved in incidents they could have easily not been apart of. Glad the driver is ok
Is it true that Tom Brady is a part owner of Jota?
my belief, And I could be wrong.. TB owns a clothing range who sponsor the team..
hertz?
lol
Well Porsche Pinsky was not happy about the idea a customer team has beat them to the win. So what exactly are we to expect from a customer team beating Porsche Penske is all boil down to this Penske Porsche are not running a Porsche with any advantages over the customer team because the customer pushes are identical to the Porsche Factory team so the question is what's the problem the customer team Porsches are on the same equal race cars as Penske is so what did it boil down to jota is a successful team in the LP2 class and they bought those skills to hypercar in the second year they won their first race so it goes to show a customer team don't have to be a factory team so what is the benefit of being a factory team if you have the same car as the factory team only the better team will prevail over the factory team and this is what you get in the rules equal treatment to all teams ask the factory gets so it boils down to the team itself that makes sense and that goes for all the other manufacturers so it goes to show you don't have to have a factory car to be a successful team because you're running the same equipment as the factory there's no shame in that so of course the better team and the better drivers will show it on the track against others
bop = buff of porsche
You say it
Short answer, luck. Any and everyone could have won that race with the late SC and red flag. It's the luck of the draw sometimes, all you can do is stay in the hunt and hope fate is kind.
Pure luck of the draw. Nothing to write home about.
Hopefully Ferrari will winning again in Le Mans
No
No
No, Porsche
@@brucewayne1894 no bmw
Lets hope it's not fucking toyota
Bruuuh, literally luck
Yeah for sure! They got super lucky with the pit stop
The Race was at the end unfair for Ferrari and the Iron Dames Lamborghini
Hopefully Ferrari, Toyota (again) or Lamborghini, BMW, Peugeot, Cadillac & Alpine wins Le Mans
It was always going to be " unfair" for someone.
@@paulreilly3904 It was unfair for the who feild, except two
2 hours extended race time, due to 2 hours left, in an ENDURANCE race, is the right decision. 2 hours are 2 whole stints.
Only won due to the FIA screwing over Ferrari and manipulating the race
They were gifted the race by poor rules , they won nothing
