Seriously, though, you gotta hand it to Jeremy Renner. His acting for these bits were amazing. Especially considering he probably could actually hear everything Hailee Steinfeld was saying to him while they were filming these scenes. His facial expressions were SPOT ON
He's actually hard of hearing in real life, he just doesn't wear a hearing aid and doesn't like to talk about it. I'm certain that he drew on his own personal experiences for these scenes. Pay attention to him when he's in group interviews with the rest of the cast -- he doesn't always realize when people are talking to him and he makes those kinds of expressions a lot.

Like Thor, with his eye 👁, a part of me wonders if alien technology can effectively solve Clint’s hearing problems. Honestly, given what Clint has been through, it is probably a miracle he didn’t die like he did in several What If versions of him.
Considering Wakanda and Tony's tech, im fairly certain they wouldnt even need alien tech to fix his hearing and even make it better than it was. I mean if Wakanda has tech to heal shot to the spine with relative easy, i dont think getting him high tech hearing aid would be that impossible

Weird, and very isolating. I can never tell how loud I'm being, and it feels strange when you can tell you're talking, but aren't getting any feedback. When that started happening, I got much quieter. I used to be able to hear fine, which is why I had such a hard time processing it.

@@miggy_lan it's ok. I get my hearing aids in a couple weeks, and since I'm pretty young I got to customize them. Purple BTE and purple, blue, and black ear molds swirled with silver glitter. They're going to look like little galaxies. You adjust, over time. I'm really excited to be able to hear again, and that my hearing are going to look so cool.

I have progressive sensorineural hearing loss, so it happened slowly enough for it to take a while to realize how bad it was getting. (Basically, I was born with crappy auditory nerves that are giving up the ghost. ) And to answer the OP's question, most hard of hearing people can still hear themselves a bit at least. I had to have speech therapy to learn how to control my volume by "feel" back before I lost hearing so that part wasn't a huge adjustment. When I don't have my hearing aids in, it's that same "everything out a bit out of focus" feeling you get when you take off your glasses or contacts.

The general lack of *need* to drive means that traffic isn't as bad as you'd expect either. During the middle of the day the number of people in the city is mind-boggling, but none of those people are going to get in their car to go to lunch like they might in a sprawling sunbelt city.
Hard of hearing. They show a montage of the times he took a lot of hearing abuse to justify the hearing aids since Comic Hawkeye is deaf but this is the 1st time MCU Hawkeye is acknowledged as hard of hearing
