- For review, we’re about to hear if this Fender 60th Anniversary RoadWorn Jazz Bass in Olympic White can recapture the sound of the 1960s! ✌🏽🌻
Unfortunately Fender has decided to discontinue these basses and are only available through Musicians Friend while supplies last: www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/...
The signal chain is plugged direct onto a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 in Logic Pro X. Using no plug-ins and a teeny bit of compression in playthroughs.
Strings used on this bass: Ernie Ball 45-100 Nickel Rounds

Wow, I wish I wouldn’t have seen this video. I need more money for one of these! Great playing, and awesome job capturing the tone in the recording. Fender should pay you to demo their stuff. That thing captures all of the great jazz bass tones.
I better get in touch with Fender to make that happen! Lol thank you. I really enjoyed playing this bass in stock form!
That's a great sounding bass. Nice job with the review!
Thank you! I really enjoyed this one
I also like the addition of Zazz to this video, this might be your best video yet!
Glad you think so! I enjoyed editing this video a lot 😅
I have this bass in sunburst and I love it. I changed the bridge to the Fender high mass, the pickups to Seymour Duncan heavy weather and put GHS precision flats 105-45 and it is my favorite out of 30+ basses I own 😊
Really nice bass!
It really is 🤤🤤
It sounds great
Thanks James!
I opted for the RW flea.... I love the concentric pots. I actually hate fake rw instruments....however, the flea (with rosewood) is an incredible bass... prolly similar to the one you are demonstrating. Nice review.
I've got the firemist silver one. I really love it. The pau ferro fretboard is really dark and not anemic looking at all. The neck is just lovely to play with it being road worn. The pickups really suprised me too. Nice warm vinatge sound when the tone is rolled off. I didn't understand some of the hate on these basses when they were released...
Agreed! I remember it’s official release in 2020 all the bashing on the Pau Ferro so I figured to poke some fun with it in this video lol. The Firemist Silver is such a great color, congrats!!! I’m really excited to compare the stock pickups with the Nordstrands in the next video
@@sonojon0 I've just put 60s nordstrands in mine funny enough. Night and day difference
@@giacobeotty657 It was quite the difference for sure. Still trying to gather my thoughts on it before releasing an updated video!
I just got a Mexican Fender Jazz Bass 2022 awesome 👌 feels & sounds like vintage Fender bass but a lot cheaper.
Congrats on your purchase! You definitely scored 💯
Hi! Great video! Just wanted to ask you what the difference is between this and the signature flea bass version. Apart from The colour of the headstock? Thanks!
I’d say the difference is that the Flea signature bass has better voiced pickups and to me sound a lot more period correct than the Roadworn anniversary.
I saw one these recently and the pau ferro fingerboard looked great. I was sure it was dark rosewood. Luck of the draw i guees
If you hadn't said anything I would have assumed that was a rosewood board. Pau Ferro comes in grades just like anything else, and is in fact the wood of choice for fretless Music Mans where it excels. It's just that Fender has put some ugly orange PF boards on the player series lately (and also inexplicably the $2000+ Jaco tribute jazz) and it has been a real turn off. I'm glad they seemed to have picked a stock of dark PF for these basses, it looks really good.
Agreed. The Pau Ferro boards from most Fender basses look atrocious including the Jaco bass which is very disappointing. Can’t go wrong with the RW Anniversary basses though, they definitely look the part from a ‘60s bass!
Do these have much laquer checking on the finish?
I can’t recall since I don’t have this bass anymore
My 2008 (1st year) RW jazz has rosewood board, 7.25 radius, and real vintage fret-wire 6250. I string it w/ TI flats. MY 2019 RW jazz has the same specs except for the pau ferro board. I string it w/ rounds. Pau ferro is a denser wood than rosewood w/ a tone similar to ebony/maple. The radius/frets are all wrong on these newer "anniversary" models and will not "feel" like a 60's bass. Sound is subjective.
If you want a better version just get the flea bass I have one and it has a rose wood fret board
Agreed. The Flea signature has better voicing pickups and are more period correct “Pure Vintage ‘63 pickups”
Now I wish I didn't sell mine.
Now you’re going to make me regret selling this one 😨
9 pounds and 48 ounces??? More than 5 kilos??? Damn!
Yeah thats a Jazz bass for ya 😅🤘🏽
@@sonojon0 absolutely not!
