@@ProspectOz2023 I did my first pan when I was 25 haha but I did about a million pans in the next 5 years before I brought my first detector. The Warwick fields were empty back in those days 😂
@AndyLeahyDiaryOfAProspector yeah I cut my teeth detecting those Warwick Goldfields, lovely place to start for anyone but after only one trip north I think Warwick will always have a piece of my heart but north QLD is calling me. To raw and beautiful up there and even while Im at home I miss it.
@@Giddos_Prospecting I think perhaps if I classified it first then I could pout it through a river sluice. But I’ll think I’ll look for richer ground that’s easier to process first.
Impressed with how clean those alluvial sands are - no heavy minerals or metals other than the cccasional oldtimers nail? Looking forward to your sluicing next year! Keep your powder dry Andy.
I had a couple of bits of hematite at the final pan. You can see those black round rocks in there. But over all there’s no heavy sands here at all and the odd shotgun pellet or nail. It’s made for a sluice
Like the videos! - subscribed :) I'm surprised if you were going out knowing you were "panning only" why you didn't use a Super Sluice gold pan. The super sluice pan can move quite a bit of dirt quicker. You can dump large amounts of the material out once stratified. Takes a real effort to lose gold in that thing. Just a thought as I pan quite a bit. Although, the only thing with me is I prefer the gravity trap pan if panning material with lots of bedrock pieces in it. Much easier to flip that stuff out using the gravity trap. The gravity trap is not as forgiving as the Super Sluice Pan, but far better than the one you have in terms of speed/lose. The only other thing that influences which I pan I use ( I always carry both) is how I am panning. When warm and I have both feet in the water, sitting on a rock, and I can hold the super sluice with two hands that is preferred. It holds a lot of material. If it is cold and/or icy the gravity trap is easier to manage with one hand when leaning over the bank to get to the water.
Nice one Andy. Be good when you can set up a sluice & let the flowing water do a lot of the work for you. Very time & energy consuming doing that all by panning alone. The detecting certainly was paying off better with less effort. Shame you cant use a highbanker. What about a banjo set up or rocker cradle when water is minimal? Have a good xmas mate. John From NZ.
I think in the new year I’ll be able to run a river sluice for a while which will be the ultimate test to see if it’s payable or not. We aren’t allowed to use anything with moving parts and we aren’t allowed to pump water. The Queensland Les are very limiting. Have a good Christmas and new years mate. I hope you have a choice summer 😂🎉
Yea I bet ya don't want to go home I wouldn't either there's something about the bush there I'm a nzer love Oz be back soon to look for yellow thanks cobber.
Thanks Andy for showing how it's done.
Gotta love a Gold hunt ! Best of luck , fill that pan 😁👍
Really enjoyed your videos, thanks Andy, looking forward to next season.
Looks amazing Andy. Thanks for sharing your adventures this year and we are looking forward for the new seasons antics!👍👍

Awesome adventure... From Oklahoma... Fantastic ✌️🙏
Cheers mate ⛏️🙌
That creek looks like heaven for a gold panner! I thankfully got taught the art of panning as a kid and I think it makes anyone a better prospector!

Not Sooky La La mate, Its exactly how I feel being stuck here in the Shity watching you.
Yummy looking clay and rock bars.
Merry xmas 🤙😎🇦🇺
Great late season work Andy. I have found if I soak the clay material in a bucket for 15 mins it breaks apart alot easier. But it does slow you down.

I found the same when I dredged on the West Normanby, only flood gold above the clay

@@rodneymiddleton1044 cheers mate. Have a great Christmas and new years. I’ll hopefully get some summer content out from different goldfields 😀
Nothing wrong with that for the time you put in, and looking forward to what you have in store next. 😉
With more time, I can see some good days being had in that creek.

11:47 is that stone cassiterite? Interesting.
@@HML-it7te it was hematite from my reckoning. They were the only heavies I saw in the pan all day besides gold.
