    My expedition in search of close encounters with wild animals of Southern Africa.
    Botswana and Baines Baobabs are the objects of our adoration as we visit the Makgadigkadi Pans Game Reserve and the migrating Zebras of the Nxai Pan National Park. In Maun we reunite with five friends, before heading into the Moreme Game Reserve, one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries.

    Who thumbs-downs something like this!? What's not to love, this is the most finely-crafted content I've encountered on UA-cam. Truly outstanding episode Andrew, great story, gorgeous footage. Those wildlife shots...such a pleasure. Thank you and can't wait for Ep4.

    Those scenes with the boababs in the beginning were just amazing. That is certainly a place I now NEED to visit. These ASPW videos almost single handedly makes me survive our South African lockdown without going mad!

    Audi camp!!! Loved that place, I went touring with my family and I turned 18 on that trip... We sat at that exact table in the bar area you are sitting at in the video. At that camp I saw the most Land Rover 110 Defenders parked close to the lapa in the parking area. We also camped at South gate (and later at 3rd bridge and Xakanaxa), all the memories coming back while watching this video.

    Hi Andrew, Just a little addition to the info/advice you give your viewers. It would be a great service to the locals of these african places you visit to mention the importance of supporting the local businesses by not negotiating on price so much, as one should see it more as a supporting role for their varied enterprises ie. fruit sellers etc. Another good example will be the pont crossing in this series. Yes, the river was low enough to be crossed without it, but the emphasis to use it should be about local business support, rather than about potentially being ripped off, within reason, obviously. Encouraging this support, i think, needs to be advised responsibly, yes, but as im sure you'd agree, better than discouraging it or being suspect of it, within reason.
    Otherwise, thanks for the fantastic content. My Sunday evenings are a pleasure as i do enjoy your overland stories new and old.
    With Respect LG

    Excellent Andrew. Your wife is quite wonderful, great sense of humour. I totally agree with you about camping. I can't stand driving to a campsite and sitting there, I'd rather be home. However, travelling with camping on the way is fantastic. The journey is the thing, the sights and experiences along the way. The side of the road is good enough for me too.

    It's interesting to observe that you seem to put more and more emphasis on aesthetic shots in your recent videos. I like your technical stuff and infos, but I also enjoy this new side. Although I guess it's not new, but rather gets more attention during cutting. Keep on that way!

    • @4xoverland

      Technical videos get far more views than the travel ones. And I much prefer making the travel ones, even though they are 10 times more work.

    This is such a good video... brilliant in fact. I did this run with my family in 2014, audi, moremi etc etc, actually slept in the pans as well. We had a one nighter at Elephant Sands first night in Bots just to regroup...our daughter was 2 at that stage. Anyway Botswana is special for so many reasons, this video brings those memories to life again thank you. I think its time to show the 2nd little girl in our family Africa... weird thing is after high school I worked in Francistown, now live in Perth and just want to visit Botswana the whole time, dont miss south africa that much but this place...oh well

      @Will James You need 12 months lead time for booking, otherwise it'll be difficult to get accommodation in BW. This will be your primary constraint. Rain will start late October, then driving will become difficult. I'd advise you get a Landcruiser.

    Stunning series, I'm hooked! I understand that you would prefer to absorb and film all these places without the "annoyance" of other people present, however, have you considered that they might, just might, be thinking the same thing, and therefore may have been equally as disappointed to see you there, nothing more annoying to be at a beautiful natural place only to have it disturbed by a buzzing drone overhead.....just an observation...but as I am not there, I am thoroughly enjoying your series and thank you.

    He is the real incarnation of Bilbo Baggins. He has diamond dealing friends, prefers bare feet, drinks ale and possibly smokes pipe weed; no shame in longbottom leaf. Further so, he gets hilariously frustrated by non-propriety, has stories about grand adventures and the cokes are his ring of power. If he does not have a coke he will get extremely temperamental and frustrated, lashing out at those who do possess them. Similarly to Bilbo it is education and funny to watch.

    Great to put faces to names from your book, not at all how i pictured Matanta. You missed the best part of Nxai pan, you should have headed up the main road to south camp where you would have been spoilt for sightings on the pans!!! 3rd Bridge and Xakanaxa would have spoilt you in Moremi as well, pity, but there is always next time :-)

    Andrew, just a quick note about YT ads on this video. For some reason they are not working for me. I always make a point of turning AdBlock off when viewing videos from the sites I enjoy watching because it is the only way I can contribute. It looked as though there were supposed to be 4 ads on this vid but none of them displayed when I viewed it. I tried again just to see if it was a one off and still nothing.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  5 років тому +1

      This video has monetisation turned off because of copyright issues with some of the music I've used. But UA-cam however still place ads. Where the income goes, nobody knows!

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen 5 років тому

      Ah, ok, I think the money from videos with copyrighted content is supposed to go to the copyright holders. Since the ads don't seem to be showing anyway, they won't be making much from my views at least. Pity I couldn't contribute something to you for the effort and would really love to be Patreon supporter but running my sites etc. chews up every spare cent I have.
