Gotta miss this country, dad used to take me on a lengthy motorcycle ride from singapore-johor-until perak now I'm thousands miles away from either country
Taylor, thanks for sharing this little slice of paradise with us. A gem of a place. At 11,35 the breakfast seems out of this world. A bird's nest? My kind of nest!! Thanks again to you and your significant other.
For the East Coast, it is hundreds of miles of undeveloped beaches and mostly concentrated in the state of Terengganu. Correction: the larger beach portion is in Johor not Terengganu. But perhaps Terengganu may have slighty better beaches due to the lower portion of East Johor is closer to the busy sealanes.
What a lovely view from your room! I really enjoyed seeing this part of Malaysia and you've made us want to go there. Just love those low-slung beachside villages. Excellent waffles!🎉❤😊
Glad you went out from KL city and traveling to east coast for more quiet and relaxing time in Kuantan. Those who are nature lovers, should be happy to see the greenery scene mother has to offer. It's totally different from the west coast and yet, beauty and richness of flora and fauna and beaches are splendid, marvellous. Feel like seeing Miami beach but it's not. More beautiful, clean beaches and you can have your sweet time alone/privacy. Thank you Andy. Cheers.
Hello Taylor, thank you so much for taking us along! It reminds me of rural Santo Domingo which is where I am originally from. If you wish to see beautiful beaches and taste fresh seafood that's one of the destinations I recommend and the price is rather cheap since the dollar stretches a lot, its 58 pesos to the 1 dollar last I checked in September when I went. This made me want to visit Malaysia even more!
Lovely, was wondering whether in the future you could consider interviewing the big people at Universities or in business in Malaysia to ask some of the harder questions about living in Malaysia. For example, retiring as an expat is a lot different from a local retiring in Malaysia because most Malaysians cannot afford retirement. What is the job market like for expats compared to locals or the prospects of being in business as a foreigner? Hard talk is not as much fun as a trip to Kuantan but may be useful to the over 40's and 50's who cannot quite retire yet but want to set themselves up in Malaysis
Thanks for sharing, I was on a road trip in Malaysia last year that took me into Terrangganu on the East coast, I really wanted to visit Kuantan as a friend spoke highly of it, unfortunately time was short and I headed into the Cameron Highlands instead, I hope I get to make it there one day in the future!
Love your channel Andrew and Malaysia .Have been many times .Hopefully back soon Great to see your travel adventures and a different side of Malaysia.x
I've always wanted to stay at that Hyatt but my trips always overlapped with school vacations. I was afraid the resort would be taken over by children on holiday. Looks like you found a quiet time of year to visit.
Thanks for the trip Andy. A bit like stepping back through a time warp, as downtown Kuantan and the Hyatt look little changed from it last century. We did the drive from Penang to Cameron for a couple of nights, then to Kuntun for a couple of nights, up the coast to Kota Bharu for a couple of days (A bit too long there) and back to Penang (a lovely drive). If someone really wants to experience Malaysia, I would suggest starting in K.L or Penang and renting a car and and doing the that route. One of the pluses of visiting or living in Malaysia is that it's perhaps the most easy, affordable and relatively safe places in Asia rent a car and explore. I loved having a car in Malaysia and some of my fondest travel memories were driving in Malaysia.
@@andrewtaylor4558 Amen to holiday road trips. The traffic must be even worse now. However, from watching videos online, l was surprised that traffic in Penang seems about the same or maybe better.
Oh wow! Thanks for showing the other side of the country!!! I will keep looking, I am new to the channel, but I'd be curious of a "comparison" video to include this lovely city.
@@andrewtaylor4558 one other thing. The Hyatt is only 3500 points per night in Kuantan if you save Hyatt points and the room is less than 80 dollars per night. A steal relative to other Hyatt locations.
Love your videos. Hope you can visit Langkawi and other islands there. Finding alot of conflicting stories wanting to visit next year still cannot work out which is the best.
I’ve been to KL many times with my Malaysian partner but we’ve never been to the east coast so maybe next time I’ll suggest it. Thanks for a lovely video!
Welcome to my hometown Andrew. Glad to see your video outside KL finally. Pahang is the largest state in Peninsular of Malaysia. Also the "Front Gate" of East Coast States ❤ hope you enjoy your time here.
Hi Taylor..thanks for taking us along. Been some time since I've been to Kuantan. I skip it for Cherating during surfing season. Btw there's a nice cafe run by a French lady and her local husband there. They have the best creme brule and desserts ever...always a queue when it opens. It's called Cafe Marion. Ombok, where you were, serves good meals too. It's also a surfing school. Surfing season is where it gets really busy in Cherating, usually during the monsoon season. Anyways, always fun to be on your travels too...stay safe always. Cheers
Yeayy you finally visit the East Coast (my hometown). The coastal road from where you stayed all the way to Kuala Trengganu is scenic. Btw, there are nicer furnished units in Timur Bay better than the one you stayed in as I have stayed in a modern hotel like unit with 2 proper bedrooms. There are many 3 to 5 star hotels in town as well as along the Beserah Cherating routes. There are many delicious trendy bistro/cafes coffee outlets too. Hope you will repeat a holiday in east coast again.❤
In 90s.. Cherating is the most busy beach in the east coast and was called "Little Bali" due to the many western tourist stayed here. Bikinis girls are everywhere, bar and club always full at night. Started 2001 the number of tourists were declined...and no effective promotions were taken by the state authority.
u sure? because u still can search video about cherating in the 90s on utube and it looked deserted just like today situation.. there were some tourists but not really a lot compare to Bali or Phuket...
from kuantan city direct drive to Kuala Terengganu Down town city u can find so many Beautiful sunny Beach,,East side Peninsula Malaysia, lovely spectacular view,,but November and Disember not so perfect weather everday rainy,,moonson coming,,i love East Peninsular for holidays,,,

Nice comforting video as always. Thanks Taylor. Next time you visited Cherating, i recommend you visit the Firefly place. To have many fireflies flying around our head in dark surrounding while we stay in the boat was quite a magical experience last time i went to the place. It is the best attraction for Cherating area for me.
Good coverage, introduction to Kuantan from Taylor. Cerating Village (lots of lower end chalets) looked deserted without seasonal backpackers (a heaven some decades ago). Kuantan used to be my home but no more.

It'is not because undeveloped in way to Kuantan from KL but because less dense of population. There are more 10 million citizen living across Selangor,Perak and Penang but only 1.4 milion in Pahang. And Kuantan is largest city in Pahang followed by Temerloh.
