IPVanish now has a VPN monitor feature built into their application.
Since the kill switch on the IPVanish app doesn't work properly on Firestick and Android TV devices, they have implemented a VPN Status Indicator.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work out of the box for Firestick and some Android TV Boxes.
This tutorial will show you how to issue an ADB Command to draw over other apps and make this possible on Fire TV Stick / Fire TV Cube / Android TV systems.
As of this video, the monitor dot isn't displaying the proper green color. Let's hope IPVanish issues an update soon to fix this. - Наука та технологія

I like this. I don't want just a kill switch. I use my VPN more for avoiding throttling from my ISP than I do privacy. If my VPN disconnects in the middle of watching something I don't want my program to stop and have to mess around with it. The light is only on when the VPN is disconnected. I'm happy.

After 5555 I receive error failed to connect (connection refused) what now? Tried 3 times , same each time
Can't find ADB apk after installing.. I have successfully installed from the TP Toolbox. I am using a Mecool device as well. I've verified I'm a developer. But, when I go the "open setting" I can't seem to find the prompt to allow the ADB apk. What am I missing? I admit, I have a 'Reading Disorder. I try to double read instructions but sometimes get distracted. TIA! BTW: TP you are awesome 👌!
My ONN Android TV updated IPVANISH with this feature and it works as described, on Android the dot is indeed green when the VPN is connected. The overlay remains after the VPN is disconnected, as a gray dot, I did a force stop to remove it entirely as it remain after changing the setting and back and closing IPVANISH. Looking forward to seeing it on my Firestick. Thanks for the information Troy.

Does this work when u have a regular firestick? It comes up on Ipvanish on my cube & max but not on my regular stick
It sounds like it doesn't work with the older Fire TV devices.
@@troypoint I ended up uninstalling Ipvanish and then reinstalling it still didn’t work. Then i cleared the data and cache, signed in again and it appeared. Just good old fashioned troubleshooting
I did it twice and both times and I get unknown commands. I did follow your instructions word for word.
Guess I have to uninstall and reinstall no update on my current IP Vanish. Don't understand why they didn't attach an update button on their app and I have the latest version...

Mine never connects no matter how many times I tried unfortunately and I can't even see ipvanish app on my apps on Amazon firestick dash board, I only have to find it on setting notification😢

Hi J R maybe your app hasn't been updated to the latest version. Try updating or uninstall/reinstall the app.

Hello, this is on my Fire TV Stick 4K Max running Fire OS 7. The IPVanish app is 4.0.5.0.159088-atv I have a feeling that this is only available for Fire OS 7 at this time. Samuel, I'm using a Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It looks like the older Fire TV devices haven't gotten this IPVanish update yet. Or, they aren't capable of using this new feature.
Hi Troy. You have Kara on the command but I have Mantis. Also, I can't get the vpn indicator on ipvanish. I uninstalled and reinstalled but it didn't work.
The update must only be available for select devices right now but I'm sure that will change soon.
Why would it matter which device I have? (firestick 4k). Shouldn't the vpn indicator be on ipvanish?
I talked with Ipvanish support. They acknowleged your affiliation with them and said that you would receive the update with the vpn status indicator first and that the rest of us would get the update with it in about a month.
@@RichardRasmussen-ul2kq that's not true. LOL. I installed this through Amazon App Store with no beta. I'm assuming this is only being sent to newer devices such as Fire OS 7. Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, etc. It's also available on my Android TV devices.

Yea I tried ipvansh slow as a turtle in downloading speeds I've moved on Google tv with something way better on android tv 😅

Seems like an awful lot of work IPVanish did to get that dot integrated. Why didn't they just instead work on a kill switch feature?
Matt, I agree with you. For some reason, Surfshark has the secret sauce and none of the other VPN services know how to implement a kill switch on Fire TV / Android TV.
No, the idea was for Android. Everything on the FireTV version was originally created for Android. The workarounds Troy shows are due to Amazon making life difficult on us :(
