They were able to capture that really raw, loud part of the Fun House album very well on this. I love that he ends on the same scream that starts off "T.V. Eye" too.
I once came home from a night out, put this on and was going mental in my flat. My neighbour knocked on the door and punched my in the face for waking him.
Saw the BP live several times 82-83 you needed to see them live to truly appreciate them, like no other band I've ever seen their music assaulted you and drilled you're brain out. Genius primal rock n roll.
I stick it deep inside. Cos I am straight from hell . Cos I m loose. Pure genuis . The band were so tight live . And that's hard to achieve n they made it look effortless. Totally raw n fully skilled . So young . There will never be a band as totally unique. As they were.. and I glad I was there. Often . I d come home deaf n battered from the .Mosh pit.. sub genuis .
@AntipodeanAl yeah thats a great version. The CD Birthday Party Live 81-82 which includes the Drunk On The Popes Blood tracks plus more live ones from the same gig sadly omits the track 'Loose'.
i don't think BP can be understood without taking into the picture the fact that they lived in Germany and were deeply affected by it: the sound is like merging rock with expressionism
@RamonesKaraoke Why the worst? It's weird cause tons of people mention going to their shows and saying it was a once-in-a-lifetime amazing experience! By the way Rowland s Howard and Tracy Pew are as much musical geniuses as Nick Cave.
GREAT COVER!! I agree that The Birthday Party is Cave's best work since his most recent stuff that he has been doing with Warren Ellis from The Dirty Three(one of THE finest bands to ever come out of Australia...next to AC/DC if course). I do agree with a few of these comments in that The Bad Seeds were flaccid AT BEST. However, with all of that said...I think as cliche' as it may sound, Search and Destroy is the Stooges best song...and I gotta say that the Addolecsants version of I GOT A RUGHT is BY FAR the BEST Stooges cover next to Sonic Youth doing I Wanna Be Your Dog.
Me too.Ive tried to understand the Birthday Party but never could.Think Cave was an arrogant & pretentious prick to begin with.Love his 'Ass seen The Angel' book though. Some great characters, even if it is a bit all over the place.
One young girl near commented they all have hair. Be that as it may, the youth of today could not parlay their way to such ennui as allows one to say the miasma of the now is for the bloody cows and sows, as once did The Birthday Party.
whats the deal with this comment section? like all the stooges/iggy pop fans getting all pissy about this cover? why can two versions of a good song not exist at once and both be good, (if not great..if not amazing)? that this cover exists is a weird ass reason to be in these comments all mad adn talking about how these guys or nick cave specifically sucks (when you 1000% know t hats untrue/incorrect: both the birthday party and nc+tbs are objectively good).... in fact ive seen this exact phenomenon in the comment section of the cover swans did of Love will tear us apart. bunch of joy division fans all triggered that the cover existed or rather that any one would dare cover a joy division song..like it was blasphemous....and as someone w ho was an insanely dedicated joy division fan.for years, before i liked swans i still could not understand the anger they had towards that.cover. like id totally understand, if the song had been covered by like panic at the disco or some other absolute garbage fucking band but that wasnt the case. in fact it should be seen as a compliment, to make a cover of someone elses song is actuallly such a positive thing because it really shows you how much the artist doing the cover loves/appreciates/etc the artist being covered

a legend singing a song by another legend...
Heard this on the radio driving home from work!
Where do you live? I can't imagine this being played on the radio unless is was a college station in the 1980's
Haha where do you live man? I wanna move there!
@@funko3119 Los Angeles. This was on 88.9 KXLU. Great Station!

that was totally fucking excellent
LOOOOVE THISSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Love this. Never saw them do this live, but I'm guessing Mick Harvey must have doubled up on drums?
@AntipodeanAl yeah thats a great version. The CD Birthday Party Live 81-82 which includes the Drunk On The Popes Blood tracks plus more live ones from the same gig sadly omits the track 'Loose'.
I LIKE IT! ANY STOOGES IS GOOD STOOGES, EVEN A KOOKY REMAKE
Yeah, kooky, that's the word I was looking for.
From The Venue, 1981
CAVE Y HOWARD= THEE WINNING COMBINATION, PERIOD!
three geniuses
if you want an even better stooges cover search for tbp's version of funhouse. it's on youtube, and fucking amazing
Doesn't happen often, but I personally think this is better than the original, and I love the Stooges !
no its not dip shit
yes
i don't think BP can be understood without taking into the picture the fact that they lived in Germany and were deeply affected by it: the sound is like merging rock with expressionism
that being said, this cover goes hard
yeah!!!
Nick Cave -great talent and hot looking man as well. Sorry you lost your son.

Nope, Death Trip from the 1997 Iggy remix of Raw Power is best Stooges tune E-VAH!
Incendiary
@Rankmoistmeat Hey you forgot Mick Harvey! He's at least as important
And Rowland. And Tracy...
it's not as good as the Stooges (come on!) but they do something different with it and add their own personality to it. Kick-ass cover.
now I know IM FU#cked up .these guys like the stooges to0!!There goes society
Anybody know the chords
Charlii Dunn E G A .
Correct for the original - but the Birthday Party play it one fret higher (i.e. starting with F) I think.
BTW: The chords to 'TV Eye' are A, C, D, C :)
No
E-G-A, and B-A for the "stuck it deep inside" bit.

0.75 SPEED RULES
Oh thats kind of you.Its just my opinion.Sorry if I hurt your feelings towards the band! :)
The mix is terrible.
Is this talent night at the Lair? Nick Cave always sucked, and the idea that he would mentioned in the same sentence as the Stooges makes me sick.
