Funny you should make this video now, I've recently been forcing myself to not procrastinate and alleviate stress during work using social media and let me tell you, the first couple of days are genuinely physically painful as your brain adjusts from the lack of dopamine hits used to cope with difficult tasks. Awesome video, thanks Sam!

@@Woke-Fact-checked The strategy is to think about how you could use that money to grow your business and then you don't have to worry about buying nice stuff in the future. So after you have thought of it, you immediately use it for the strategy, so you can't spend it on nice stuff. And if you do: you know you are making a bad choice.

I’m 53 and now realise my LOVE is ideas, concepts, patterns and imagination. My inner world and how I think and feel is my love. This is an issue because as soon as I go to act the actions seem so petty, futile and annoying because they aren’t ideas and creativity. It explains why I’m ubering 7 days a week. Somehow the structure of Uber allows me to survive whilst I can think, feel and engage with ideas and people. This is a crazy way to live but it’s what’s happened.
It’s like my business ideas are women and I’m afraid of commitment. To engage totally with one means I can’t with another!!😊.
So, I end up not acting and living a survival mode existence. I’m waking up though and with some inbuilt accountability via others am learning to feel it’s ok to stick with one thing, act on it and there’s enough time to move onto something else.
It’s the world in my head that gets the LOVE , Sam talks about which creates a lifelong pattern of moving towards that constantly. All at the expense of getting traction in this life and how we live.
    Make sense?

My love? #1? Reaching my full potential. Ruthless improvement. Changing my life. I've felt this way since I was a kid. And I've fully "known myself" since ~16. But recently I had strayed away from this, got distracted with other things I love: girls, video games, friendships.. I'm the same as Sam here: the issue has always been getting me to STOP working, not the reverse. This video has helped guide me in remembering who I am & what I love. Thanks

Hey Sam, I think a big thing besides love is 2 things .... one thing being something alex becker has touched a lot on about eating healthy/exercising/sleeping and doing those things ot have a very clear mind that can then focus on who you REALLY are and what you believe in and care about and etc. (and that you can only really poorly do that if you dont have your diet sleep exercise and healthy mind and body habits in order) ...... the second thing is this concept of resistance thats talked about in the book the war of art .. where the author makes the argument that whatever you love you tend to face resistance before going to do it ... and its hard to get started and write that book youve always wanted to or draw the painting youve always wanted to , .. the author believes there is great resistance BECAUSE you love the thing .. so there is overcoming that resistance to working on someething you really love too (i think entreprenuer folk who just endlessly watch videos but never can seem to get started ACTUALLY building a business, fall into this camp) .... but those are some thoughts of mine ..... i thinka side from lvoe too , the few people taht go and do it and creat ea business or build something they dreamed fo and see it through to completion do it because of pain , and because that motivates them and theres no other way out but that path ... something like that .; just some thoughts !! curious what you think.. look forward to future videos -Rafif

Great video! Just want to add my 2 cents....Sometimes it can be difficult to enjoy and love something if you're afraid of it, so when you remove the fear you can start to enjoy it and fall in love with it. I would recommend subconscious reprogramming to remove fear, shame, and guilt based programming. The fear of rejection is a big one which causes people to not want to do the work and this is all related to guilt, shame and not feeling good enough. Bruce Lipton and other people talk about this. I'm also an expert on this because I've dealt with this for years. Anyways, keep up the good work, Mr. Ovens!

The answer to my favourite movie was spot on actually. The first movie that popped into my head was "Forest Gump". So much I could say about how much I identify with the main character. Essentially, I often feel like the dumbest person in the room, and quite "stupid", but I always manage to go on fantastical adventures I couldn't pre-plan even if I tried. And it always ends with me saying "See. The universe loves me." Because everything has some magical way of working out for the best (even though painful at times) through following my promptings, accepting what is, and just saying yes to opportunities that good friends/loving people recommend. I really enjoyed your breakdown of "knowing thyself" and how to actually access some of that important information for myself. I'll be sharing this video with others who are having the procrastination-like behaviours. Thanks Sam!

This video really opened up one of my first happy experiences in a whole new light. I'm gonna fully explain it for myself, but hopefully it can help someone else too.
My first memory of feeling actual happiness and fulfillment was on the playground at elementary school. I was around 6 years old and at the start of the week one person in class would be chosen as a sort of 'leader of the day'. This leader was 'in charge' of a couple specific tasks. The class consisted of around 30 kids, the leader was chosen based on the first letter of their last name and my last name was one of the last on the list. So every week there was a lot of room to observe how each person would do the same task.
I'm sure there were a lot more tasks but the one I can remember is the opening of the shed which housed all the available toys for the playground break. Every time I saw someone do it, like getting the key, opening the shed and getting all the toys out I was learning, observing, analyzing their actions and subsequent results. I also remember being annoyed at the inefficiency and slowness of the entire process.
So when the day finally came where I would be the leader, I counted down the time from when the shed key would be available. At exactly that time (I think 10am or 1030am) I ran to the teacher to get the key, ran to the shed, opened the door as fast as possible and then just evicted all the toys in the shed as fast as possible.
Normally I'd just have my break, pick a toy or join other kids with their toys but not today. Today was victory, that very process I had been observing was finally maximized and for the entire break I just basked in my own glory. Everyone got a better break thanks to my effort as they didn't need to enter the shed to get what they wanted, instead they could just easily take whatever was available as soon as they stepped outside.
So yeah, I always knew this was my first 'happy' memory but I never saw it in this light. Thanks Sam!

I really appreciate this video and is quite obvious the passion you have about the subject. And I cannot disagree with you on anything you said, part of being successful is loving what you do. Yes, you can be successful in something you have no desire on, but you never pass a certain level. I am at a turning point in my life the career that I was involved in made some changes that I do not agree with. I have given myself a certain amount of time before I resign. I know if I find something that I'm more passionate about it would benefit me and my family. I will look into other videos you made even those that are in their accelerated level thanks again.

You can create a bridge by constantly increasing awareness. It takes years of observation and study. Your self is an imagined character. By understanding your habits and likes you can then trace back to how those formed in life. When you find that your self is just a made up character you can start playing around with re invention, new habit building etc. Its just that it's currently in your best interest to follow what you love to do. Ultimately we want to reduce unnecessary suffering and build a system that teaches wisdom to others so we can see our connection to nature and come in line with it. When we find our "first negative lie" we told ourselves based on one event as a child, we can see why we did what we did from there on as a human. The self help industry has a lot of people taking advantage of people's basic programming. Sam does a good job to spread knowledge

Alex Stefan actually yes it is possible. You have to see several new connections to the thing you don’t like doing, and how it serves you. For example, if you don’t like waking up early, it’s because you haven’t asked the question, “how does waking up early help me to get what I want in my work, family, wealth, physical health etc” whatever is most important to you. Another way to do this is list 100 to 200 benefits of waking up early. Or ask “why do I love waking up early?”. When you realize enough connections of the behaviour to the things you already love, you’ll do them.

Good question for Sam. IMO - this will never happen. 80% of the population does not want to be an entrepreneur because they value steadiness and comfort over risk and growth. 1% will be an entrepreneur no matter what. And the 19% on the fence, watch content like Sam's, and are more likely to become self-employed.

I'm also obsessed with learning. I spend most of my days learning new things. But there are other things that I "know" I'm supposed to be doing, with what I've learned, and with some natural talents - but I am afraid of my own potential. The path is crystal clear, but sometimes I am physically crippled by the fear of the sheer vastness of my vision. I often avoid my vision board... how do you deal with the fear of your own power? Is this something that you have had to deal with at all, Sam?

This is the first time that I think some video worth me commenting on it.
You made me think about love as a essential part of doing the work, and discipline and motivation are good but not the key question, I almost took that point of view too, but then I thought a little about this.
Some philosopher said " Choose the right life to live, and habit will make it joyful"
Or something like that xD, English is not my first language, so..., sorry if I make some horrific mistakes, I translated the quote the best I could.
Then I thought how is that we love some things, and I really believe that ---We love certain things because we have spent time on them-----not the other way.
( Note: I think that you are so attached to your identity of builder and introvert, and so on, but I'm pretty sure that in the future this, will stop you from achieving some goals that you set for yourself, because there will be some point in your life that you should do something not in the way that you are used to, and your ego, and attachment to your identity, thinking that you are this way, that you can't act or proceed like that, will stop you)
I didn't like your point of view, because I want to control at least myself the most that I can.
For me, at least, I prefer thinking that I control my destine, that everything that I want to achieve is possible ( not only what I love)
Thinking like you, that you must love the process, will make people act poorly, because they will say, I don't like this , let's search something else, and will be in the endless path of chasing something that they enjoy doing, because they didn't like some little thing or could not overcome some obstacle...
To show some example, if I'm obese and follow your advice, I do what I love, let's eat and eat more, and more junk food, oh this is fun they will say.
Some friend advice them to do cardio, and abandon their actual bad diet, but they will say that they don't love running, and don't love vegetables... In this context doing what you Love is an awful advice....
In the other hand if they follow the advice "Choose the right life to live, and habit will make it joyful", they should think what's the best things and habits that they can do to have better chances of achieving the body and health that they want.
When they know it, they should do that things, maybe it will be uncomfortable at the beginning but they will be accustomed to it after that habits are engrained in their lifestyle.
So... With this said, the CONCLUSION that I made about this, is that there is only one way to do things, do them consciously until they are unconscious on your life....
And there is no better way to do the things you want to achieve than to set a environment where the decision is easy and its easy for you to get there to start doing the thing.
There will be better chances for you to get in shape if you live 2 min away from the gym, and it will be easy for you to eat healthy if you don't buy junk food... ( and even easier if the supermarkets of your area don't sell junk food xD)

First video of yours I disagree with or do not think that is thought through. Yes "love" is for sure one of the key components. But love is not the only one. It's a pain & pleasure relationship. And what you describe as love is something that gives you a big amount of pleasure, (almost) no pain and no limiting beliefs; so strong that everything else feels like pain when not doing it. Now, can you reassiociate pain & pleasure? With other words, can you start "loving" something? Yes, absolutely. Btw you can also just be motivated by pain (at least in the beginning). But in this video it sounds like if you don't love something, you cannot become successful at it and even if you try it will be much harder. And that is not true. Your way is just the easiest way to answer this question, because I needed to learn how reassociate pain&pleasure (start truely loving sth).
