6:48 the weird interaction was because Micah can't hear Misha, but the Astral Express crew can. It's a hint. If you view the dialogue this way, it sounds weird that Welt suddenly says "So a Guardian of sorts, huh?" completely unprovoked which causes the confusion on both sides.
Same dude! When Screwllum said they are gonna drop their projects for SU to assisst the restoration for Penacony I was like "that's BS". Ain't no way Herta and him approve that and it was too much of a happy ending for me. I was grinning the whole time waiting for the plot twist.
@@kuroplays2922 The abrupt end to the fight was how I started thinking something was up. Then the IPC said they are gonna leave Peakacony alone and I knew for sure something was up.
My realization was as soon as Misha’s identity was revealed, I went like “Hol up a minute, then how the hell was he in the real hotel when we arrived?!?!” But then I just kept going thinking the game was gonna brush it off as a mistake on the writters and it turned out that was indeed the biggest plot twist of the story, I was kinda proud of myself for that one ngl, Im usually very slow to catch on stuff like that.
I loved the part when King Yuan came from outta nowhere and said "Time for the masterstroke" and then proceded to masterstroke Monday (Sunday final form). Truly Peak-cony
was so good, cuz i used Jingyuan for the fight not knowing that was gonna happen, and I always slow the gameplay back to normal for the last Masterstroke. And then to my surprise, literally came in afterwards and gave the masterstroke lmao
Tbh tho, the confirmation that blade was able to drive, and had his own driving license was the funniest part of this patch for me. (Rip to Misha tho ;-;)
@@metal9076 I mean, if she could take a hit like that and survive, we'd have to look into what the heck she is, because the other two had physical reasons as to why they survived.
Really love how Harmony Trailblazer has the most impactful story so far, in comparison to like his previous two paths. It's really amazing seeing the legendary Nameless Trio's legacy and man I really love that the Watchmaker's Relic Set is literally just Mikhail's final clothes too and it works flawlessly on Harmony Trailblazer. Now the only thing left is to get a usable Harmony LC for him lol.
@@Shidozu-cu2em Even if we wanted to, that's impossible. Simply because he doesn't have a history. He was a Memetic Entity created by an Pathstrider of the Enigmata. He was meant to be completely forgotten after completing his purpose. You can't tell the story of someone who technically never existed in the first place.
The scene where you mention you don’t know what happened, Misha spoke about Micah and Welt replied to that. Micah didn’t hear Misha and this is how Himiko and Welt learnt that Misha was only able to be seen by the Nameless. (I think). Also sorry if that was a joke and you did know what was going on
Thankfully the whole scene is played with Misha's voiceline before Welt speaks so yeah you're right he was responding to Misha but Micah can't see him and bc March is behind Misha it looks like he's looking at Misha but nah that's Life sheltering this kid from the reality that he ain't a real boy
I actually love Sunday's character more after this. He's a villain who had a point. We all wish everyday could be Sunday and that life could be as wonderful as our dreams, and Penacony seems like the perfect place for that. But that's just escapism. Running away from everything. And then Sunday takes it to a twisted, absolutely insane level to where it becomes absolute control. But when Robin hugged him at the end, it reminded me that Sunday's character isn't simply an evil control freak, but a broken man who was lead astray by his ideals. What a great villain, dude.
top tier writing from Hoyo tbh. I kinda also wished that they gave a bit more depth to Robin. Don't get me wrong, she's already fantastic, but a part of me feels like there's a little bit more that they could've done for her. Can't really articulate it or put it into words, but eh, still love Robin to death. the "Things I Like About Sunday" list has his sister on top and like 2 other things, those being his writing (again, top tier from Hoyo) and all of the angelic bordering on Catholic motifs. Call me weird but I really like angel imagery, and I'm not even religious.
I knew something was off when the "final" fight was so easy it folded in a single Acheron ult and they still had DHIL and OUR GENERAL show up to save the day.
Tbh, I knew something was off mostly off of how everyone was acting: aventurine isn’t that happy, neither is screwlleum or topaz, and the way black swan was talking, and no sign of Sparkle, who knows a lot about the plot, and firefly’s next deaths haven’t occurred, it just shows that something was just off, especially being that we basically took out a emenator in 1 min? Even if it was a fallen aeon, That’s just weird, but tbh the fact that it became a loop that we didn’t even notice, and leaving so many hints, especially Misha, was good storywriting. If the storywriting keep getting better, I can’t wait see what happens in the future, and hopefully, we see a good end for firefly in 2.3
By far my favorite moment in this whole quest is Firefly mentioning her 3 "deaths" Meanwhile Blade is just "Damn I wish that was me" Jokes aside it was great to see how the story unfolds and we're not even done yet. Misha being the Legacy himself was definitely unexpected, i was sure that he was related to the Watchmaker but didnt know what his significance was besides that connection Now his E6 portrait art makes alot of sense
So from what we got so far she maybe already death in real life or coma at some sort to come at Penacony without anyone know. Maybe third death is the way to revive her
@@Jame-zz4tuwell, her deaths it's explained clearly. But since black swan explained to us she didn't enter thr dreamscape by using the device inside thr hotel room since she isn't invited, the only way she can enter thr dreamscape is through death. Based on that, her first death was to enter the dreamscape for the first time, the second one is "death" by dormancy. Her 3rd death is probably happened in order she can wake up other like black swan, boothill & dan heng since she's the first one to wake up according to black swan.
@@genesisofthebetweenI've been sad about his death ever since I completed the quest but I think it's comforting to remember that he wasn't murdered. He died peacefully in his sleep after having lived a good life to the fullest
@@dendyKAIt's actually Sparkle who first realized the truth but chose to go along with it in her Masked Fool way. Black Swan said it when she asked us about the flaw in the memory (which is Misha being able to meet us despite being a meme). Then I realized that's why she told to aventurine to "befriend a mute". It's always the insane one who's the most awake. I have a little theory that when Aha climb the imaginary tree, he realized that he's only living in a game that's why he laughed because everything is meaningless
Some people claim the answer to Sunday's question of "why does life slumber" is a bad line, and I'm not really sure? It's not a huge speech, it's a simple answer yet holds so much meaning considering what we've been through and learned in the story. "Why does life slumber? Because someday, we will wake from our dreams." We don't desire a constant dream-state and a permanent escape from reality. That's the issue of Ena's dream. The entire arc of learning about Sunday's past and hearing his philosophy of life all holds heavy biblical implications - and on "Sunday" in the bible, people rest. He wants people to live in a sweet dream because he knows how cruel reality is. We sleep because we need rest, and our dreams can be peaceful but we know we will wake up the next day to return to reality. Sunday wants to be the one powerful enough to block out reality and the idea of survival of the fittest to force everyone to sleep peacefully so that Order can be maintained. Harmony is when everything works together naturally, yet Order is when peace is maintained throughout any means. This is why the Trailblazer's answer causes Sunday to hesitate and surrender. Even as he falls, he believes that the night is too short - but this answer is quite literally his wake up call. We don't sleep to pursue what's in those dreams and live in them forever, otherwise our bodies in reality would fail to function and we would neglect our body. We desire rest, but that's why within the calendar bestowed upon the world, there is only one rest day. The majority of our lives cannot be used to rest and stay dormant - we have to face the harshness of reality and the troubles that come with living, but being able to live on in the world and get through our struggles, going with the flow and adapting to challenges - is in itself, a form of Harmony.
So pretty and all but people have different ways to tell that line so why Sunday will understand how the trailbrazer sees the phrase? I would prefer a more evolution type of respond XD
@@briancottini5426 I mean, it does make a bit of sense. Like, if you believed that the next time you fell asleep, you would never wake up again, would you willingly go to bed?
This works because you need that idealistic and utopist person who oversteps his limits for the sake of a greater good, but you also need those ideals to sound realistic. Now you just add some wrong conceptions, a chain of mistakes and you get yourself a nice blend of tragic villain which we all love. The fatal flaw in Sunday's reasoning from the perspective of a socialist and a music student? A harmonious governance can not come from the top-down. If your harmony has only the highest note being played fortissimo while everything else is played sub-pianissimo, you won't get a harmony. It's the chaos, the resonances and overlaps that allows for each note to cover and compensate for the other's mistakes (Which is also why mistakes in bass notes are much more noticeable, the bass has less harmonics (high frequency sounds) playing. It's not about the strong supporting the weak, it's about everyone supporting each other even unintentionally. That's how we avoid paradoxes like "While the hero is saving everyone, who is there to save the hero?" for example. What he proposed was not Harmony nor it was Order, it was Monotonism and Nihility. Funny enough, this was the subtext of the Trailblazers actions but i wish their rebuttal was a bit more explicit. When Robin was arguing him and using none of the right arguments i was like "Girl, you could do so much better... YOU'RE A MUSICIAN!!!" Also, a fun musical fact: Choirs in the medieval era used to be monotonic and singing "out of the note" was considered a misdemeanor. But that didn't hold because having a bunch of people singing at the right frequencies just sounded too badass. Sunday's Choir was this monotonic medieval-orthodox choir while Robin would have chords, melodies. I wish the ost of the stage reflected this.
To me, the main issue with the Penacony story was Robin and Sunday's weird philosophical debate where they BOTH seemed to FULLY believe that only one path was good. Even Robin seemed to have an absolutist black and white ideal. Much like her brother. They were just polar opposites. In Robin's ideal world, so many people would suffer and be trampled upon by the strong as well
I was so confused when I saw this. Maybe Gallagher was not a real person but that doesn't explain his past, but since he is a fictiontologist he could have a made up backstory.
@@wyattb20 yeah hes just a memetic entity, not a real person. hes basically a made up character with characteristic of 52 family member hence why the roll credit listed "penacony" as gallagher
I KNEW when Topaz said “actually were just gonna leave Penacony alone good job” that something fishy was up but I was not expecting it to be that insane afterwards
41:12 This is a callback to Raiden Mei from HI3, she made curry for her terminally sick love interest. However when Kiana congratulated her on the delicious spicy food, it turned out that Mei cooked mild curry and Kiana had lost her sense of taste (and was hiding it from Mei).
6:50 what happened here is that Welt responded to what Misha had said, but since only the Nameless can see Misha, to Micah, it just seemed like Welt spoke out of nowhere
This quest opens the possibility that a fallen Aeon can be resurrected. More ammo for my tinfoil theory that the MC is Akivili themselves, in the process of rebirth. How else can we hope to defeat Nanook without the power of an Aeon? It also explains how Aha is stalking us throughout the quests. In Belobog, on the garbage dialogues, in the Luofu during Phatylia boss fight, and now in Penacony. If you open I think page 17 in the Penacony picture book, the dialog box breaks the fourth wall by asking "Do you know who I am?". And who in the game we know is capable of breaking the 4th wall? Oh yeah, its all coming together...
Ena still exist Within Xipe and there power can still be called upon. There mind may have been mixed into Xipe but yes. There is still something there to resurrect.
@@WanderingVtuber I don't think so? Because it was stated in SU that Qlipoth smashed and shattered Tazyronth into oblivion shattering and shaking the universe and if you consider Qlipoth's gargantuan size any organism hit by that hammer will be squashed to bits.
I retreated from the fight to switch up my team (if there was a change team option I did not realize it was there lol) and when I did the dialogue again I decided to just be honest and I didn't even have to fight him. Wasting my TIME!!!
Fun Fact: You can actually choose to persuade Argenti into letting you go through without any fight with some dialogue options, and get an achievement for it!
@@Zolrain There a lot of branch achievments in the game.. it's basically a choose your own achievement kind of thing so regardless u get an achievement.

I loved how in teh credits from Elio the role of Gallager was played by "Penacony" its like the will of the planet itself manifested through the Enigmata
i KNEWWWW the first ending was fakeeeee so QUICK- like we beat sunday TOOOOO easy, i blame the genshin sumeru quests with the samsara repeating over an over it gave me trauma 😭!
I definitely was tripped up for a sec after that first battle, i was like "huh???" Bc of how abrupt it was and how casual everyone was being after, but when Boothill and Dan Heng couldnt recall Acheron, i knew something was up
Little tidbit. After finishing 2.2 go to Firefly's Secret Base in Dream's Edge. Boothill was not lying. There is thousands of Galaxy Rangers. Just look at the sky!
Highlights of this quest has to be Dan Heng and Jingyuan tag team Mishas reveal Everytime boothill curses Acheron revealing her name The false ending Sundays betrayal Harmony Trailblazers dance That hype ass poss And "WITNESS THE WILL OF THE WEAK🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂"
For that "fake ending" I knew it was fake from the moment Jing Yuan showed up because it doesnt make sense how the entire Luofu could just infiltrate the dreamscape with their ships
44:04 I think he meant he'll kill the dream master not Robin He said that he'll kill the sun if need be, which isn't Robin since she doesn't follow order like them, also it was a threat towards the dream master
really? I also assumed the use of the word "Sun" was a metaphoric call back to when Sunday told Robin that in order to become the chordmaster, you must become a star first. And given a Sun is a star, I just thought it was a call back, but i could reading too much into that lol
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia I actually thought he was talking about killing himself. He himself is the other star. If his plans cause problems for his sister, then between the two, he will choose his sister and let himself die.
I second this, in many "Belief systems" the sun is the "central figure" around which everything spins around. In a hierarchy, he would be the head of said hierarchy, so in this case, I do agree that was a threat to the birdy
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia Sun is the "top of the top". From my understanding it would be that, if Robin would take the role of the Dominicus, Dream master would became the "Sun", the maestro of everything, because of the Robin's personality (she's the true Harmony pathstrider), meanwhile Sunday, even as Dominicus, would want to take the "God" role in Penacony. Robin would be just a "Star". Dream master as their "father" see himself as someone above them, the "Sun". Sunday's ambitions grew so high that he also sees himself as the "Sun", and I took what he said as "I will take her role in our act, and if you force my Sister to do anything, I will no hesitate to take down the other Sun, as there can be only one on the sky"

THE SUNDAY FANS ARE COMING. SAVE YOURSELF BEFORE ITS TOO L-
Acheron's story with Tiernan was definitely one of my favorite parts in this patch. Despite being about something so sad and tragic, it felt absolutely warm and uplifting to me by the end.
When Sunday is making us choose what would we have done, the color of the screens are different in a way that I think, the clear represents what Robin would have wanted to pick and the red what Sunday would have wanted to pick. That's my conclusion.
As a big fan for acheron i was sad that she didn't have much screen time in 2.2 but then near the end she gets more of it and just drops a lore bomb with her name and i went crazy
what i have realized is everytime we finish the quest and then revisit it acheron's dialong make even more sense, like they have greater meaning. It is unfortunate that her lore in the quest is so scatterd and crumbled down to being to powerful and being a mei exp is sad. but she truly was important hope we get more of her somehow
So everything about Misha now makes sense. The light cone isn't his grandpa giving him a Nameless badge,it's the guy himself when he joined the Express. And the fact that the thing we were afraid of is Gallagher and Misha's pet is funny
Truly this is PEAKACONY. I played this 10am and finished it around 8pm. All those seconds of bits and dialogue are so worth and the twists and lore drops ahhhhhhhhhh
Love how you’ve improved your commentary, it feels more charismatic. I’ve seen other explanations that have about 15-20 mins explaining the story but I end up rewatching this hour long video instead😂
20:56 I think a closer analogy to this story in particular would be parents letting their children eventually choose and live their own lives as adults. Though Sunday does make an argument similar to the zebra analogy you mentioned about Firefly, the bird in this story wasn't disabled. It was young and was just learning how to fly. Sunday reveals later that after they released the bird (when it had fully recovered) that it did manage to learn to fly but got thrown off-course due to the strong winds which led to its death. His argument is that in hindsight, they should have just caged the bird forever because he judged it to be too weak and was bound to die anyway. But Robin's point is that they would have robbed the bird of its chance to learn to fly. It's a similar argument to when Sunday asks the Express Crew if they'd support or stop Robin from helping others (though she may be putting herself in harms way). In that story, Robin (the Charmony dove) did manage to survive (was able to fly) but not before sustaining a near-fatal injury. But this was Robin's choice. Sunday essentially wants to take away that choice and people's agency because he believes the alternative he's offering can keep them safe forever. And this is very relatable. If you've ever been in a position where you're responsible for the safety and well-being of soemone else. But Firefly does have a point: it's not up to Sunday to judge who is weak and therefore needs to be coddled. By his logic, people like Firefly should just stay put and not try to live out the life they have left to live to the best they can make it because they're weak and could easily get injured or die. Or any disabled person is not allowed to go out of their house to experience the world around them because they're more prone to suffering or eath. It's actually kind of ableist. There's an argument to be made regarding the old man who's comatose/ on life support. His family and friends can use the dreamscape to say thier final goodbyes there instead of in a hospital room. He could walk around and do things he wouldn't have been able to do in his real body. And then he could pass on peacefully and without pain. But that person was more of an extreme outlier. Most of the people Sunday and Robin met in the dreamscape were running away from responsibilities or problems that weren't impossible to solve.
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia I believe that bro, shit was crazy. My itto main ass was just lookin at the screen confused, thats why I'm here🙏🙏 it was fire tho
So the wierd part with Micah actually makes sense, Micah never heard Misha say anything because only the trailblazers can see and hear Misha so when Welt said that Micah was confused cos he never mentioned anything about being a guardian and before Welt said that there was just a few seconds of silence
You clap for Peak Fiction. You clap for Peak Fiction. You clap for Peak Fiction. You weep in sorrow before Peak Fiction. You stagger before Peak Fiction. You kneel before Peak Fiction. 😂
Galaxy ranger has to be one of the coolest faction, like bunch of loner outlaw doing dirty job for the world but if one of them get killed the other galaxy ranger will drop whatever they are doing and seek vengeance for the dead galaxy ranger.
i have a feeling will get more of them in upcoming patches as if you remember their is a hint that jade has more things on penecony. and we might get more from Constance with blackswan
56:30 "He then somehow turns into Ena the Order" Actually, the cutscene isn't showing it clearly at all, but Ena's face was on his back all along. In phase 3 he simply does a Voldemort from the first HP book and turns around.
Hmm with the revelation that Sam is Firefly, what actually happened with that plot part, that she was seemingly "betrayed" by Sam? I don't remember this being ever explained.
Yea Im still puzzled about this "Firefly and SAM are the same" bc of that scene. It could be that SAM is an armour that has its own mind(much like Screwllum) or essentially a sentient AI but it's very unlikely tho, I think.
Ok, am I the only one that during "we are in a dream since the beginning" revelation, the first thing came to mind was Dr. Blue, the origami bird being on the Hotel lobby in the "real" Penacony?
4:24 this small Flashback is indicitave to Fireflies "escape" from the Dreamscape, in theory the fact that Firefly is only a "Stowaway" means that her only way to escape the Dreamscape would mean her death, BUT this one line that she is indeed an invited guest suggests the fact that she is indeed not a "Stowaway" she is an invited guest, she is- like everyone else- in a dreampool in the hotel and will wake up like everyone else. I skipped through it without noticing the remefications of that small little line of dialogue, like probably a whole lot of people did, but I just remembered this little fact. She claimed to be a Stowaway, she told us she is, the Bloodhounds hunted her for the "rumor" of her being a Stowaway, that she herself may have spread, so that she can gain our trust and sympathy and easier befriend us, which is fair considering we didnt had a reason before. But the matter of the fact is: She is invited, she is not a Stowaway, so my theory is that she is just waking up, like everyone else.
Mr. Gopher Wood's name actually has a deeper meaning as well. In the Old Testament Bible, gopher wood was the type of wood that God commanded Noah to use to build the Ark prior to the flooding of the earth. Further solidifies Gopher Wood and Sunday's belief that Ena the Order would save all of the people of Penacony. Gopher Wood acting as essentially a hive mind at this point of the Oak family which would act as the building blocks of this plan. And Sunday acting essentially as Noah, saving humanity. Albeit forcefully in this case.
@DawitsLookingforEmilia for me the masquerade of the guilty was s masterpiece and had me crying like a baby. I haven't cried like that since assassination classroom.
Penacony was by far the best content we have ever gotten in this game with a consistent increase in quality with each update. *I really* hope that in the next world they work on the stuff that really soured penacony from becoming truly peak. 1. Lack of commitment to the death of characters 2. Bloat of unneccesary dialouge scenes (especially from acheron) 3. detracting from the story they want to tell for that update (aventurines story engagement really suffered from us constantly being drag out of his pov for dialouge bloat or our main cast getting exposition dumped) 4. abandoning good plot points (how firefly's death affected the mc's motives. In terms of chronological order the trailblazer almost immediatly discovers firefly again)
There's still plenty of loose ends here: - What in the actual heck happened to Adventurine? He WAS put in "Dormancy", but who pulled him out? We still got no explanation of where he was after he was "killed" and him calling Jade at the ending. - Just WHEN did Dan Heng actually get stuck in the dream? When he entered Penacony the first time with Boothill? And even THEN, how did he wake up alongside the rest of the cast for the final battle? Did he, or did not actually have the encounter with Acheron when she was suggesting to warp out? (and what was the real result of that conversation, if it wasn't to use the Jade Abacus?) - Did the Dream Master simply escape after Sunday was defeated? 2.3 leaving a lot of holes to fill.
Also, the whole thing with us losing... it makes this all feel like a loop. After all we have the start of the story with Acheron saying "Have we met somewhere before?" and all that. Though that makes me wonder what the differencing factor is that broke us out? Maybe this will be expanded within the 2.3 epilogue but idk.
I cant help but see some resemblence between Sunday's plan for "Ena's Dream" and Madara's Tsukuyomi which is quite interesting to see a somewhat similar concept between the two, albeit with very different backstories
While you admit you hadn't seen hints of the twist, I MYSELF shall brag that indeed, I knew something was off and we hadn't reached the true ending 😌 It first clicked when the boss only had one health bar than the usual two or three, then I presumed that the three puppets we fought before were the also part of the final boss battle. BUT I got suspicious when they said we should choose which planet to go to next, cus really? Not to say they wouldn't make alternative paths, cus they've done something like that here, but to actually let us decide which planet to go through next? The one I picked was Edo star, and I knew the story for it would be much even if the cries for help have died down, which would be enough story for s whole chapter and not just a world or companion quest And when Blackswan explained how Mika shouldn't have appeared, I remember Firefly's escape and wondered "ain't no way she just left. What about the death??????" And lo and behold she had to 'die' to escape Penacony and warn the express crew, cus Acheron too realised they had to leave the area lest she'd be the only true awake person Honestly loved the twist. The fake ending creditsade me suspicious cus I remembered there's a smaller alt ending in 2.0 or SMT where everyone isn't acted by themselves and only sparkle is sparkle, obvi telling it's a fake. Thought the end credits for the failed ending was the same, but then the true ending came to be and then I just realised 'Penacony is a play destined for tragedy'
Star Rail writing team needs to spaced out and sectioned more. I had to take this in chunks. (It was a huge lore dump, and im 3 days in. I had to log off to digest.)
The fact that Jing Yuan is an Eminator of the Hunt makes it even more confusing as to why he’s an Erudition unit. We already had Serval, we still don’t have a Lighting Hunt, and all other playable Eminators in game whose path is a playable are the same as the one they are the Eminator of. So weird
As soon as I finished fighting Sunday the first time I had a very strong feeling that something was off as the fight was very easy and it felt too soon to have the ending, the thought of it all being a dream had crossed my mind at one point but I didn't focus on it so when Black swan revealed the truth to us I was both happy for knowing I was right to suspect that "ending" but also shocked to hear that everyone lost the battle (I didn't expect that at all!) My guess is that the Epilouge in V2.3 would be about 1.parkle as it seems that she somehow knew everything about the story from the very start, we also need to know who hired her and for what exactly 2. What will become of the annihilation gang as Duke inferno is dead, where will his children go? 3. Our next destination as well as tie back any loose endsand more...
I saw it coming 100 percent. A short boss battle followed up with Aventurine "Taking a hit for peace " and I literally blurted out "We're still in the dream"
I desperately needed this video, cause I zoned out at one point and they would go on and on about stuff. At one point, I just thought when they spoke important bits "Hmmm... dreams."
44:35 no but like you're so right tho bro everytime we're about to listen to them memories sunday pops in like "SO AS I WAS SAYING USELESS STUFF USELESS STUFF USELESS STUFF" like bro i'm tryna listen stfu stop yapping at the worst possible time. This shit was godawful to pay attention to
50:35 it is sooo silly welt wasn’t here for this. welt’s literally been through this before (the spiritual adam) i’m surprised he didn’t see it sooner!! however he is an old man, i don’t blame him. i actually think it’s really neat that hoyoverse had this kind of plot point twice - with very different solutions. it’s really neat! i feel like the universe they’re building is like a shattered mirror; it’s all the same mirror, shattered into pieces, each reflecting something a little bit different than the entire thing. (hence, acheron being raiden mei without her companions, raiden ei being mei without the cooking or friends, etc!!)
At least the story of penacony isn't fully over we still have a quest waiting whit the IPC, de didn't see the IPC and the Louafu making some sort of contract
Argenti EN VA didn't record, or they couldn't get it in on time, JP Dub is voiced thankfully so I force closed the game and swapped languages. A similar situation has happened in HI3 before during covid, unfortunately they didn't fix those voices.
Honestly I wouldn't being mad if they separate this into two patches cos it feels very rushed. The first patch revealed to us the tone of Penacony, second patch showed us that there is more underneath the peaceful Penacony we know of, this patch should've only been showing us what that other side is and the truth behind Penacony and the next one should've been how Sunday wanted to reach his ideals and how we can stop him as well as us Awakening from Ena's dream which felt very rushed. But besides that a pretty good story and probabky my favourite from any hoyo game so far
I'll definitely watch the full recap later, but I just wanted to drop by and say...God I love this patch. The story of Penacony has simply been *everything* to me. Its been tense, scary, heartbreaking, thought-provoking and finally uplifting. It truly touched my heart in a way that, if I'm being honest, I didn't think Star Rail would be able to do until we were on version 5 or something. I feel *genuinely* grateful I got to experience this tale... "That's beautiful and all man, but why do you need to finish the video 'later'?" Why? Well, that's the next best part. This patch was also great because I WAS FUCKING VINDICATED!!! For months now, MONTHS, I have been in the *trenches* as I dug through the relic sets we got, the tidbits of backstory we got from character bios, and of course, the goldmine that was and STILL IS, Swarm Disaster. By no means am I trying to say that I alone predicted that, for example, Ena/The Order would somehow be involved in Penacony, I mean look what channel I'm posting this comment to. But it feels fucking fantastic to have committed that much time to lore hunting, and then be rewarded for it in the most sublime way. As for why I need to leave early? I mean that should be obvious people! The *next* Simulated Universe update drops NEXT PATCH, and I'm super behind on my Gold and Gears notes! Enjoy the vid, and enjoy the new patch content everyone. I'll see you all for the next theory vid.
That song that plays while the plan is being executed cut scene is awesome as hell! Everything about it was just amazing. The visuals themselves made it hard to pay attention to the dialogue.
6:56 I suspect the reason for this confusion is that Welt was responding to what Misha said about Micah, who may not be able to see Misha, as i think Himeko mentions later on, only they, the nameless, ever notice/react to him. to Micah it just looked like Welt was talking to an imaginary friend, pretty funny.
wait i do have a question. when we fully wake up from the dream to fight septimus for the second time. why did we wake up literally in front of septimus? the question sounds kinda shallow, but when you think about it, why did only the astral express appear in front of septimus? where was saaay boothill, he also broke free from Ena’s dream i am also confused on Robin’s reason for waking up, funny as it may be. it was Sunday being so optimistic right? buuuut why would a flashback from their childhood affect Robin? did she just recall it as such and was like “hey, i don’t believe my brother said that” and magically woke up; ooooooor was she a child in her dream re-experiencing childhood again? but that kind of defeats the notiom of everyone in asdana being under “one dream”
I believe we woke up from Ena's Dream when we actually woke up and spoke to Black Swan and Acheron. This was right after Black Swan pointed out the flaw in the story.

Robin hugging sunday at the end has another meaning ,which is harmony excepting(imbracing) order.
I agree that we should have 7 days of sunday. I mean, sometimes i just wanna run away from life. But i need to work, and keep living.
top tier writing from Hoyo tbh.
I knew something was off when the "final" fight was so easy it folded in a single Acheron ult and they still had DHIL and OUR GENERAL show up to save the day.
yes they did a good job at forshadowing the twist of the perfect ending
Bruh even in real boss bottle all it took was one Acheron ult in each phase and that was it
Tbh, I knew something was off mostly off of how everyone was acting: aventurine isn’t that happy, neither is screwlleum or topaz, and the way black swan was talking, and no sign of Sparkle, who knows a lot about the plot, and firefly’s next deaths haven’t occurred, it just shows that something was just off, especially being that we basically took out a emenator in 1 min? Even if it was a fallen aeon, That’s just weird, but tbh the fact that it became a loop that we didn’t even notice, and leaving so many hints, especially Misha, was good storywriting.
If the storywriting keep getting better, I can’t wait see what happens in the future, and hopefully, we see a good end for firefly in 2.3

Some people claim the answer to Sunday's question of "why does life slumber" is a bad line, and I'm not really sure? It's not a huge speech, it's a simple answer yet holds so much meaning considering what we've been through and learned in the story.
"Why does life slumber? Because someday, we will wake from our dreams."
We don't desire a constant dream-state and a permanent escape from reality.
Nah cause like i get the point of the story but trailblazer literally said we sleep because we Will wake up some day. Like what does that even mean
@@briancottini5426 because that's literally reality as we know it bro. Sunday is rebelling against the current status quo, the Trailblazers accept it

It's crazy they foreshadow kevin lore on 2.1
This works because you need that idealistic and utopist person who oversteps his limits for the sake of a greater good, but you also need those ideals to sound realistic.
YOU'RE A MUSICIAN!!!"
Also, a fun musical fact: Choirs in the medieval era used to be monotonic and singing "out of the note" was considered a misdemeanor.
In Robin's ideal world, so many people would suffer and be trampled upon by the strong as well
And here i am working 6 days and only have Sunday for the rest day.. I kinda agree with him. But maybe only for a couple of weeks.

And given a Sun is a star, I just thought it was a call back, but i could reading too much into that lol
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia ah I thought the sun part was referring to the dream master, but you could be right
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia I actually thought he was talking about killing himself.
When Sunday is making us choose what would we have done, the color of the screens are different in a way that I think, the clear represents what Robin would have wanted to pick and the red what Sunday would have wanted to pick. That's my conclusion.
As a big fan for acheron i was sad that she didn't have much screen time in 2.2 but then near the end she gets more of it and just drops a lore bomb with her name and i went crazy
acherons role was interesting in penacony because it just boiled down to "shes too powerful"
what i have realized is everytime we finish the quest and then revisit it acheron's dialong make even more sense, like they have greater meaning. It is unfortunate that her lore in the quest is so scatterd and crumbled down to being to powerful and being a mei exp is sad. but she truly was important hope we get more of her somehow

Love how you’ve improved your commentary, it feels more charismatic. I’ve seen other explanations that have about 15-20 mins explaining the story but I end up rewatching this hour long video instead😂
aww lol
Not even making this up, when the plottwist in the end happened I said "yo dawit where u attt😭😭" out loud like

That annoyed me so much.
From what I've seen, Argenti's English VA is sick and thus unable to record the lines.
@@RenCarl1sle Oh :( That’s really sad actually. I hope he gets better soon
@@Pupcat_Is_Amare Same. They will probably patch his lines in when he's able to record them.
They did add this to the known issues page today. They said they will be adding the english VA down the line.
BRO, JUST AFTER I FINISHED THIS QUEST. Your timing is truly startling (Instant like for this)
LOOOL
The funniest part of this quest was Jing Yuan getting his 5 seconds of screentime and by the end it's revealed it was just a dream, like brooo
I don't remember this being ever explained.
we still have yet to reconvene with her, and she still might have one potential death lingering so her story doesnt seem over right now
Yea Im still puzzled about this "Firefly and SAM are the same" bc of that scene. It could be that SAM is an armour that has its own mind(much like Screwllum) or essentially a sentient AI but it's very unlikely tho, I think.
an hour of explanation for penacony's ending...
ITS ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS??
:D
the actual mute Sparkle mentioned wasn't Robin and Firefly, it was Argenti lol. Also Welt did snatch away the tracking device from MC in Dremflux Reef
Penacony is peak and fave part was def smashing sunday with the astral express 😭😭 funny yet so iconic
Ok, am I the only one that during "we are in a dream since the beginning" revelation, the first thing came to mind was Dr. Blue, the origami bird being on the Hotel lobby in the "real" Penacony?
Mr. Gopher's Wood, such a goofy ahh name for a villain 😂😂
Gopherwood was one of the main materials used to construct Noah’s Ark in The Bible.
Sunday on some Maruki type level of thinking.
57:00 the hand was technically supposed to be Ena the Order, while the robot itself literally just the boss turning around to face its back at us
Its canon Boothill cannot curse properly, because someone fucked with his synesthesia beacon that translate languages for him.
This quest was my 2nd favorite quest ever. I was shook literally jaw on the floor. PEAKCONY is real

Penacony was by far the best content we have ever gotten in this game with a consistent increase in quality with each update.
*I really* hope that in the next world they work on the stuff that really soured penacony from becoming truly peak.
1. Lack of commitment to the death of characters
2. Bloat of unneccesary dialouge scenes (especially from acheron)
3. detracting from the story they want to tell for that update (aventurines story engagement really suffered from us constantly being drag out of his pov for dialouge bloat or our main cast getting exposition dumped)
4. abandoning good plot points (how firefly's death affected the mc's motives. In terms of chronological order the trailblazer almost immediatly discovers firefly again)
Ya, Firefly’s death was really underutilized
There's still plenty of loose ends here:
- What in the actual heck happened to Adventurine? He WAS put in "Dormancy", but who pulled him out? We still got no explanation of where he was after he was "killed" and him calling Jade at the ending.
- Just WHEN did Dan Heng actually get stuck in the dream? When he entered Penacony the first time with Boothill? And even THEN, how did he wake up alongside the rest of the cast for the final battle? Did he, or did not actually have the encounter with Acheron when she was suggesting to warp out? (and what was the real result of that conversation, if it wasn't to use the Jade Abacus?)
- Did the Dream Master simply escape after Sunday was defeated?
2.3 leaving a lot of holes to fill.
Aventurine was saved by Argenti. He explained it in his message to us. But "how"? We still don't know about this.
I just realized Sunday main goal is literally just Madara’s Uchiha goal but with a concert than a tree (I never watched Naruto I just know a bit)
lmao
It's also similar to what Welt mentioned in 2.1. to Acheron.
It’s pretty similar to Maruki’s from Persona 5 royal
i think he likes sunday guys
He's based for that
I cant help but see some resemblence between Sunday's plan for "Ena's Dream" and Madara's Tsukuyomi which is quite interesting to see a somewhat similar concept between the two, albeit with very different backstories
36:08 Amundsen, probably after Norwegian explorer, the first human to reach the South Pole.
The moment I saw that Sunday only had one health bar, I knew it wasn’t over😅
While you admit you hadn't seen hints of the twist, I MYSELF shall brag that indeed, I knew something was off and we hadn't reached the true ending 😌
It first clicked when the boss only had one health bar than the usual two or three, then I presumed that the three puppets we fought before were the also part of the final boss battle. BUT I got suspicious when they said we should choose which planet to go to next, cus really? Not to say they wouldn't make alternative paths, cus they've done something like that here, but to actually let us decide which planet to go through next? The one I picked was Edo star, and I knew the story for it would be much even if the cries for help have died down, which would be enough story for s whole chapter and not just a world or companion quest
And when Blackswan explained how Mika shouldn't have appeared, I remember Firefly's escape and wondered "ain't no way she just left. What about the death??????" And lo and behold she had to 'die' to escape Penacony and warn the express crew, cus Acheron too realised they had to leave the area lest she'd be the only true awake person
Honestly loved the twist. The fake ending creditsade me suspicious cus I remembered there's a smaller alt ending in 2.0 or SMT where everyone isn't acted by themselves and only sparkle is sparkle, obvi telling it's a fake. Thought the end credits for the failed ending was the same, but then the true ending came to be and then I just realised 'Penacony is a play destined for tragedy'
i tip it
Star Rail writing team needs to spaced out and sectioned more. I had to take this in chunks. (It was a huge lore dump, and im 3 days in. I had to log off to digest.)
yeah it wasnt meant to be done in 1 go
they barely gave us spots to log off, scenes were super long 😢
@Quon it was like a metal gear solid game lol.
But yes... its... kind of disappointing. Great lore but badly executed.
I loved Jarilo 6 storyline
56:29 when you realize sunday almost becoming an aeon.....
he looked godly ill give him that
Star Rail seems to have a solid 9/10 story so far...
-1 point for the absence of THE PRIMORDIAL ONE, A PROGENITOR GOD HAILING FROM BEYOND THE STARS
YOU SPEAK THE TRUTHS!!! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
preach
For me is a 7/10
It would be a 8/10, but there was to much filler (That damn Talent Show)
ikr the belobag was good, i can ignore the loufu for the inazuma level passing but penecony redemed it all
ya peakacony finally got me invested, was so bored in the luofu
The fact that Jing Yuan is an Eminator of the Hunt makes it even more confusing as to why he’s an Erudition unit. We already had Serval, we still don’t have a Lighting Hunt, and all other playable Eminators in game whose path is a playable are the same as the one they are the Eminator of. So weird
Gameplay paths and lore paths are just generally a bit inconsistent sometimes honestly so it's not that weird ig.
As soon as I finished fighting Sunday the first time I had a very strong feeling that something was off as the fight was very easy and it felt too soon to have the ending, the thought of it all being a dream had crossed my mind at one point but I didn't focus on it so when Black swan revealed the truth to us I was both happy for knowing I was right to suspect that "ending" but also shocked to hear that everyone lost the battle (I didn't expect that at all!)
My guess is that the Epilouge in V2.3 would be about
1.parkle as it seems that she somehow knew everything about the story from the very start, we also need to know who hired her and for what exactly
2. What will become of the annihilation gang as Duke inferno is dead, where will his children go?
3. Our next destination as well as tie back any loose endsand more...
Whether the Ena's delusion is fake scene or not, Himeko's coffee is a menace and even too "strong" for Boothill.
I saw it coming 100 percent. A short boss battle followed up with Aventurine "Taking a hit for peace " and I literally blurted out "We're still in the dream"
7:01 This is because Micah cannot see Misha.
I desperately needed this video, cause I zoned out at one point and they would go on and on about stuff. At one point, I just thought when they spoke important bits "Hmmm... dreams."
LOOOL
44:35 no but like you're so right tho bro everytime we're about to listen to them memories sunday pops in like "SO AS I WAS SAYING USELESS STUFF USELESS STUFF USELESS STUFF" like bro i'm tryna listen stfu stop yapping at the worst possible time.

It also happened with JP dub for ToT, but in that case, they added the voices at later dates.
thx for this vid, i understand the quest better now!
He sussiest thing about that play is why was the puppets Caked up?
eyo? 😢
43:55 Sunday would never kill Robin. He meant he'd kill the Dreammaster if he stood in his way of becoming Chordmaster himself.
i thought he meant hed kill robin if two chordmasters couldnt exist at once (hence two suns)
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia Remember how mad Sunday went when he thought Robin was dead? Nah, he'd NEVER kill her.
Otherwise I'd probably have agreed though

I'll definitely watch the full recap later, but I just wanted to drop by and say...God I love this patch. The story of Penacony has simply been *everything* to me. Its been tense, scary, heartbreaking, thought-provoking and finally uplifting. It truly touched my heart in a way that, if I'm being honest, I didn't think Star Rail would be able to do until we were on version 5 or something. I feel *genuinely* grateful I got to experience this tale...
"That's beautiful and all man, but why do you need to finish the video 'later'?"
Why?
:D
That song that plays while the plan is being executed cut scene is awesome as hell! Everything about it was just amazing. The visuals themselves made it hard to pay attention to the dialogue.
The funny thing is that i actually did notice the "fatal flaw" but then forgot about it.
I didn't get Sunday finger touch because I smacked his ass too fast with Ruan mei
wait i do have a question. when we fully wake up from the dream to fight septimus for the second time. why did we wake up literally in front of septimus? the question sounds kinda shallow, but when you think about it, why did only the astral express appear in front of septimus? where was saaay boothill, he also broke free from Ena’s dream
i am also confused on Robin’s reason for waking up, funny as it may be. it was Sunday being so optimistic right? buuuut why would a flashback from their childhood affect Robin? did she just recall it as such and was like “hey, i don’t believe my brother said that” and magically woke up; ooooooor was she a child in her dream re-experiencing childhood again? but that kind of defeats the notiom of everyone in asdana being under “one dream”
I believe we woke up from Ena's Dream when we actually woke up and spoke to Black Swan and Acheron. This was right after Black Swan pointed out the flaw in the story.
(i edited my comment to add a bit more reasoning and another question)
