  • My Previous video kinda sucked & I apologized for that, on this video I will show you step by step on how to achieve Dolby Vision & Atmos via Onkyo TX-NR676 Reciever, so if you have C7 & Onkyo TX NR676 this video will be a great tutorial to show you how to enable Atmos & Dolby Vision return via arc HDMI cable.

    I would like to Apologize for one last step I forgot to mention , On your Reciever the return Atmos will be outputting on TV selection highlighted on your Reciever, just switch to TV selection on your Reciever & voila there you will see & hear Atmos separated from Dolby Vision screen.Im sorry I forgot to mention this, anyway if any problems let me know. Thanks

      Thanks for the video. Quick question - For this video .. Did you use external speakers for producing the dolby atmos sound or is your LG TV producing atmos sound?

      Big question I got the TX-NR777 almost exactly like your NR676 but offers THX and all ports are HDCP 2.2. Anyhow my samsung 4k disc player and vizio 4k screen both play 4K together great. My problem is with the NR777 it won't display 4K only 1080p. I checked pretty much everything from my HDMI cables to the dates my devices were made but like I said both devices display 4k great but not with my NR777 all ports are HDCP 2.2 any suggestions???

      You need specific speakers dedicated to atmos output. There are no tvs that produce atmos sound.

    Dolby vision is a hardware interface so you can't bridge it through a Onkyo receiver. So you must have a TV that support Dolby Vision like LG, TCL, Vizio, Hisense and now Sony. If you have a Samsung you can't get Dolby vision but you can get HDR and other Ultra 4k formats. You're receiver want give you Dolby Vision but you can get Dolby Atmos if you configure your speakers using the Onkyo remote. For example if you have a 7.2 system you can re-figure to 5.1.2 surround sound that gives you 5 surround sound, 1 sub woofer and two dolby atmos height speakers. If you have 9.2 surround sounds you can re-figure to 5.1.4 surround sound giving you 4 dolby atmos height speakers. If you have two sub woofers then it would be 5.2.4 surround sound. In order to get the Dolby Atmos I recommend you purchased the Onkyo dolby atmos bookshelf speakers. They are very affordable and they sound great. Place them as high as you can because the sound uses the ceiling to give you the overhead 360 degree sound. You'll know when you have it just right because it will sound like aircraft in movies are flying over your head.

    • @jaimemedina9407
      @jaimemedina9407 6 років тому

      The reason is very simple. HDMI ARC can not transmit dolby atmos or any other format higher than 5.1. This will only be possible as soon as eARC and HDMI 2.1 are released

    • @deathb4dishonor755
      @deathb4dishonor755 5 років тому

      @@jaimemedina9407 that's totally incorrect, HDMI 2.0 A or B can carry a bitstream atmos signal with no problem up to 18 GB per second, 2.1 is beneficial because it allows a bit rate up to 48 gigabytes per second, in which I do not believe will benefit sound in any noticeable way but the higher bandwidth will allow for 8K and 10K TVs.

    Hi I noticed your AV is not setup for Dolby Atmos and DTS X. You set it up for 7.1 using surround back speakers. You supposed to setup the height speakers or ceiling speakers. Then the AV can use that for Dolby Atmos or DTS X. This setup is 5.2.1(one sub) or 5.2.2(two subs).

    • @obakare8541
      @obakare8541 7 років тому +5

      Even though the AV is displaying Dolby Atmos, the sound output is not, it's just 7.1. If you already setup your speakers with height speakers, then go to your menu to change the speaker configuration to 5.2.2. Then you can enjoy Dolby Atmos or DTS X.

    Hi MR 4k UPSCALER, I need some help, I have been using atmos for quite some time both netflix and amazon (jack ryan was tested previously) on my LG E7 and onkyo receiver without any problems until the 2/5/2019 firmware update (this firmware say dolby vision and hlg hdr now available). now after the update The receiver is no longer decoding atmos (no sound at all) however there is a atmos/dd+ logo on the onkyo display. I called Onkyo and they basically are saying it was never suppose to work since atmos works only with eARC so i bought another same receiver from amazon and did no update the firmware and that one can play atmos just fine (older firmware out of the box tested), I don't know what can i really do since onkyo looks like purposely broke my receiver. any help is greatly aperitiated (onkyo receiver HT-L05, TV LG OLED 65E7)

    If you only bought the receiver and you're using previous Onkyo speakers, putting the system in Dolby Atmos want give you the sound you're trying to achieve. If you bought a complete Onkyo Dolby Atmos home theater, then you're good. If you are using your old speakers, you'll need to purchase Onkyo Dolby Atmos speakers. The bookshelf Dolby Atmos height speaker are pretty cheap normally 2 for under 200 bucks. This will put your system in 5.1.2 surround sound achieving the Dolby Atmos sound.
    FYI: When it comes to Dolby Vision only a few brand name TV have HDR and Dolby Vision (TCL, Visio, LG, Sony, Hisense, Toshiba, Sharp). Remember Dolby Vision is a hardware not a software so if you're TV doesn't have it, you can't add it in a software upgrade. You'll know if you have Netflex; most of their original shows are broadcast in Dolby Vision, if you're Netflex shows only show HDR or Ultra 4K then you don't have Dolby Vision). Notice Samsung is not on the list because they only support HDR and HDR 10. If you haven't bought a Onkyo receiver yet, I recommend getting a 9.1 or 9.2 system, this will allow you to add 4 bookshelf Dolby Atmos speaker immersing you in full 5.1.4 surrounded Dolby Atmos.

    • @aalb1970
      @aalb1970 6 років тому +2

      I found a work-around:
      1. Set audio output to internal speakers on your LG 2017 television
      2. Make sure Dolby Atmos is enabled
      3. Open Netflix and open an Atmos enabled title (The Punisher, Okja etc.)
      4. Important: Make sure the grey Dolby Atmos logo lights up in the top right corner. If it doesn't the next steps won't work.
      5. Make sure the Atmos title is playing (do not pause!!) and now change audio output to HDMI-ARC on your LG 2017 television.
      6. The TX-656 now correctly recognize the audio stream as DD+/Atmos
      Limitations:
      You have to repeat the procedure, if you terminate playback and/or close Netflix.
      Bottom line:
      It must a HDMI handshake issue that LG can patch.

    First of all you dont need a compatible dolby vision receiver to do what you did. Only if the source is passing by the receiver it would need to be dolby vision compatible. Cause by using ARC Only the sound is processing by the receiver but the image is processing by the tv. And same if you plug dolby vision devices directly in one of the tv hdmi input. Second point your système is not even configured to play atmos. you are in 7.1. not in 5.1.2 and. you ll need 2 specific atmos speakers for that. not side or back surrond speakers. Also while really playing in atmos there will be a special blue light on the onkyo receiver.
