Youtube Needs To STOP Doing This [240p/480p Problem]

All my videos will be uploaded in 240p and 480p from now on.

another thing with this change is the bitrate of uploaded videos to youtube have been reduced dramatically and sometimes you would see a lot of bullshit artifacting because of this. When I uploaded a 1440p video, the 240p and 480p options are back and the bitrate was dramatically better in every way even with the same bitrate settings as 1080p. So yeah. UA-cam has done absolutely nothing about this for other short content creators and I don't think they ever will. It's just more annoying that they didn't say anything about this and just made people find the stupid issue themselves.

Its honestly really annoying because it ends up making your audience retention rate rocket into the ground, thus youtube's algorithm doesnt push out videos because it thinks the video isnt good

I think the availability of 240p and 480p options may now be tied to availability of the VP9 codec for a video, which could be triggered by uploading in at least 1080x1152p, or 2048px horizontally, or may kick in based on viewcount performance. YT now seems to rarely process 240 and 480 in AVC1/H.264 unless the video was originally uploaded at either resolution.
Once they decide to process a video into VP9, it includes both 240 and 480.

not just that. there is even a problem where if you watch a video with 720p the video wont load at all so you either need to increase it to 1080p or downgrade it to 480p (if there is even 480 to begin with).

360p is a trash quality.

I’ve noticed that for me 1080p uploads have 240p and 480p missing, but 4K uploads have all of the resolutions available
Just now I came across a tweet from UA-cam, which makes it appear as though UA-cam is doing this intentionally (it supposedly improves the video playback performance or something ridiculous like that)
