Steve, I don't usually get feedback as your framed it, but I think you just are a kind of person that likes things stated directly and honestly with no diplomacy. I treat the channel as a means to help my friends (cyclists) and so I speak like I would if you were standing or sitting and having a drink with me. Many subscribers have stated what you just said, but in different ways and the bottom line is that although that may rub some people the wrong way, those who just want frankly spoken facts, suggestions and whatever else appreciate the fact that I don't intend to waste anyone's time here. I may not have deciphered what you meant correctly, but that is what I got from your comment. I am glad that you like the channel and since I cannot change who I am, the best way to put it, is that you are in the right place and this is just the way I am in person, so the format is real because I have never been one to tell anyone what to do, but rather give them options so they can choose what works for them. Thank you for taking the time to comment as it helps me stay the course.

I agree that each person is different on eating habits . For me, what works best is eating something every 25-30 minutes. I found out my body doesn’t respond well when I eat every 15 minutes. For some reason drinking is bit different than eating. Drink happens automatically without thinking. Additionally, I never skip breakfast. I have to eat my oatmeal every morning before a ride. Now the secret is out lol.

wow. I am glad to learn I been doing things right. As soon as I think food, I eat. Water, I drink. Common sense! I have never "dieted" in my life. I get a sandwich, no mayo. Drink a soda, once a month. things like that. Eat nutritious after a ride. So important. I am loving these videos!

Great I can’t thank you enough for this crucial information on segment 12:19 where you mention the purpose of having one of your bottles with plain water just in case you have the necessity of wash perspiration out of your eyes “ something that I experience very often and to me it’s very dangerous to ride like that” ; I wear headbands but when the weather is hot and the ride is long enough the dripping start and I end up riding partially blind and then the fun goes away. Thanks a lot for this advice beyond the important nutritional information on this video that I also appreciate. Kudos to you.

Dario, I think you should try a bandana made out of cool max material. I started wearing them a few weeks ago and that eliminates the sweat from getting in your eyes and they are very breathable.

Staying hydrated, drinking plenty of water is very important IMO - urine ought to be clear or near. Sometimes I make up 1/4 orange juice, 3/4 water + pinch of salt = cheap isotonic drink. I tend to use bananas on a long ride, fruit already wrapped :)

Try Halo II Headband Sweatband to keep sweat out of your eyes and off your cycling sun glasses. They have worked well for me, especially in the hot Texas summer.

I will look into them. Most headbands I have tried just make the helmet seem hotter, so I haven't kept them.

I usually ride 4 days out of the week. On the days I ride I have a bowl of oatmeal with bananas and apples with a spoon of cinnamon(helps burn body fat) in it and hydrate as best I can .I'll have a banana b4 My ride if I feel slightly hungry ,so that holds me down. My rides are bout an hour n half so I don't eat on rides ,but eat within the hour after. Like you said as long as you listen to your body you should have enough energy and hydration to keep you performing at a high level. Well said 👍

Thank you for the insight. I tend to lose concentration and my mind wanders away when riding long distances. I carry two bottles NaMed drink plus water. What could be the cause of that? Thank you from South Aftica🇿🇦

I have been a cyclist for over 25 years and i have never and never will have a bottle on my bike. the liquid sloshing around on my frame is something I can never get beyond. water goes in a bag on my back. that is just me.

Since I don't know much about you or your level, all I can suggest to you is to pace yourself and don't do anything you didn't do in training.
