Di Leva sings this way! It doesn't mean he sings poorly. He's been singing like this since the 80's, and his style of singing is simply his unique thing.
I adore DiLeva, sucha character.
His vocal style and skills has really changed and evolved over the years. If You want an example please listen to The winner takes it all (Abba cover). He can really sing when He wants to! Or His own Vad är frihet?
i think that he cracked the scull after a high fall as a little kid and had too remain still in a hospital bed fore some time. and after that he got that special voice... he has a special voice you never forget.
Thomas DiLeva is one of those odd guys. He talks alot of love and cosmic power in a way few people understand. He alsp have he's såecial style with long hair, dresses, the way he sings and some very strange music. He breaked throu with this song because it was the most main stream and melodic he made at that time. Today few questions his musical and creative talent.
Who to believe in? Yes, his voice is … different, but he is the most sincere artist ever. And a Buddhist, yay!
Thomas wrote this song after the brutal murder of our Swedish prime Minister 1986, a lot changed in Sweden after that. The human climate changed over night and the "innocence" disappeared from our country.
Love this. His voice is amazing, not traditionalist, but personal in the vein of Bowie and other glamrockers, and he never sings out of tune if not intentionally. Surprised that you did not find the juicy stuff about him, though... There is some dark stuff. :-/
He's both been ridiculed and celebrated for his style, but he's been an important artist representing all the weirdos in Sweden. He's always been true to himself and who he is and despite the ridicule he continued being authentic, doing his own thing and started to be respected, "folkkär", even! Saw him in concert in my late teens some 20 years ago, during his "Jesus"-era. He has a sense of humour too, he knows how he's perceived as this strange man and he leans into it for a laugh. But a laugh with genuine and serious undertones.
He really has the best voice. Its quirky by choice. But I understand youre point. Listen "see" to the tv-show "Så mycket bättre" and you will see that.
He wrote the song after Palmemordet. I'm too young but I'd compare the contemporary young generation's reaction to the murder of Palme with how people reacted to the murder of JFK. He can sing though, the crack in his voice is despair. This song is great research for comedian for sure!
I don't know if this was a stylistic choice of singing or if he has improved his singing over his career, cause he's been doing a really awesome Bowie tribute show recent years
Thomas Di leva som sjunger The Winner Takes it All...unforgettable! Also...check out Lahleh and Öppna landskap by Ulf Lundell. ..one of, if not The unofficial national anthem of Sweden *The other being Ida's sommarvisa. ..so...three songs /artists for u :)
Thomas is a very weird and trippy dude. He CAN sing, though, he just has a different and unique singing style. Sometimes he reminds me a little bit of David Bowie.
He has a really good voice, but special. He is very special. But he can really sing! I think he sometimes chooses to sound weird. He has his own style in everything.
There are two ways to digest Di Leva: Either you take him for a comedian, in which case you will have a good time. Or you take him seriously, in which case his preachy New Age buffoonery becomes insufferable. Also, he's a passionate Bowie disciple, which partly explains his singing style. He did release one truly great pop song though: Naked Number One, from the album of the same name, in 1992 I think. It might not be part of Swedish pop canon, but it should be. If you can look past the New Age nonsense...
Never understood how Di Leva can be so popular. Never liked his music even though I've tried to. :) I feel the same about Håkan Hellström. lol But I guess it's just another case of you either love it or hate it. :P
Di Leva was never QUITE my cup of tea, but.. I am fairly sure everything is intentional. He dresses in women's gown, and sings in a quirky way with a lot of texture and false notes.. BUT!!.. Those false notes seem quite deliberate especially since they provide texture (like as "Outthere brothers" aren't always CLOSE to the right not but not ON it, in order to create dissonance).. How he uses his voice is unique, and I think it's about him trying to build his "image" and "persona", and to force people to actually listen to the voice (so they will not just have the song as background but listen to the message)... he kind of aim for being a fringe artist. Never really "rebellious", but stil not mainstream.
Wow, I've only ever heard this song on the radio but I've never noticed those weird and slightly annoying beeping noises before. Maybe this was something that was only included in the music video?
Seen him before he was known, back then he was dressed in a mishmash of styles with a Fez hat on his head and a tress (hårlock) taped in the middle of hos forehead with that ordinary transparent tape, some glittery mix between disco style and old Goahippie west and glittery disco shirts, there was nothing and nobody dressed like that then in Stockholm back in the early to mid 80s, maybe 10 person was at his gig at the Kulturhuset stage. I can't remember what I was thinking but it was more of an accident because I was there in other business then to check out the Stadsteatern stock of old wallpapers that I was promised to get a couple of rolls from.
He's a musical genius, he's lyrics is amazing and his delivery is special. I love everything about him.
Di Leva sings this way! It doesn't mean he sings poorly. He's been singing like this since the 80's, and his style of singing is simply his unique thing.
Thomas is somewhat of a legend in Sweden, for good and bad. You either love him, or hate him. There is no middle ground ;P
I adore DiLeva, sucha character.
Listen to him doing Bowie! Fantastiskt! Han kan sjunga!

Jo HAN KAN sjunga, lyssna på Life On Mars ned Thomas. Hoppas du har tid!
Never listen to him at home but loved seing live consert
Tomas Di Leva is living in his own world. So fun to see live thou
I just love Thomas Di Leva He is a great singer, listen to him when he sings Bowie❤
It's the voice he has, and I kind of like it. He doesn't sound like anyone else, which is unusual now.
His vocal style and skills has really changed and evolved over the years. If You want an example please listen to The winner takes it all (Abba cover). He can really sing when He wants to! Or His own Vad är frihet?
“Worst case scenario for Prince” ROTFL! I think Thomas would like that review. What a song, what a man… PS, he also makes his own outfits

He also likes to beat and humiliate his women.
Who to believe in? Yes, his voice is … different, but he is the most sincere artist ever. And a Buddhist, yay!
He may sound like he can't sing, but funnily enough he actually stays in key, but modulates a tonne which makes it sound messy.
Thomas wrote this song after the brutal murder of our Swedish prime Minister 1986, a lot changed in Sweden after that. The human climate changed over night and the "innocence" disappeared from our country.
Wow. Thanks for the added perspective
You know, that is what makes this song interesting the contrast between the happy music and the sad lyrics.
I¨ve seen many of the best bands around playing live but Thomas Di Leva in Arvika '88 is still my favourite concert.
Hahaha yeah he should!
Jag ska bli en byråkrat

I'll have to dig more
Thomas has an incredible voice when he wants to. He chooses to be a bit quirky and awkward in many songs though.
He's both been ridiculed and celebrated for his style, but he's been an important artist representing all the weirdos in Sweden. He's always been true to himself and who he is and despite the ridicule he continued being authentic, doing his own thing and started to be respected, "folkkär", even! I've heard a lot about the way the assassination affected the nation. Adds perspective to the song. Thanks for watching!
I don't know if this was a stylistic choice of singing or if he has improved his singing over his career,
cause he's been doing a really awesome Bowie tribute show recent years
Although the debut is my favorite record of his (love that 80s sound), my favorite song is "Vad är frihet", I recommend you to check it out!
Thomas Di leva som sjunger The Winner Takes it All...unforgettable!

Ja. Thomas med, the Winner takes it all, är tusan 5 av 5 betor
When he got older he started to sing in English. Or in 'Ängelska' as he said it. =D
Thomas is a very weird and trippy dude. He CAN sing, though, he just has a different and unique singing style. Sometimes he reminds me a little bit of David Bowie.
I lowe him🥰🙏💖💖💖❤️
My great grandmother actually liked this song.
i remember back in school we use to make fun of Tomas Di Leva, he was so weird and so was his songs... far from my favorite artist, but fun haha
He has a really good voice, but special. He is very special. But he can really sing! I think he sometimes chooses to sound weird. He has his own style in everything.
I guess I'll find out when I hear another song. Any suggestions?
@@JonathanRollinssthlm305 vi har bara varandra
@@johannygren added to the list!
@@JonathanRollinssthlm305 That one is even weirder xD
@@JonathanRollinssthlm305 Check out his cover of Life On Mars if you really want to hear him sing.
Swedens David Bowie.

He was a WB, ask your colleges Zinat, his ex or ask around your friends about him.
So I hear. Obviously not good.
Lill Babs - Leva livet. Där har du en riktig klassiker!
It's on the list. Thanks!
Tomas Di Leva is actually very smart, I mean ”Mensa smart” and he designs his own clothes.
Di Leva was never QUITE my cup of tea, but.. I am fairly sure everything is intentional. He dresses in women's gown, and sings in a quirky way with a lot of texture and false notes.. BUT!!.. He Wrote the song after Olof Palme got shot.
Olof was at the time the swedish head of state
The prime minister is not our head of state…The king is…
Wow, I've only ever heard this song on the radio but I've never noticed those weird and slightly annoying beeping noises before. Maybe this was something that was only included in the music video?
Nah, they've always been in the song!
Sweden's own UFO.😂
This is early in his career. Voice still a little brittle. Probably his best song though.
That was strange... to see him in "normal" clothing. I have never seen him without that jesus look lol
Seen him at the store, socks in sandals...he dress like a svennebanan normaly.

Han gör Bowie så bra
Tips: Själens krigare med di Leva!
This song is about the death of Olof Palme.
Gingers need to protect themself from the sun.
Kalle moraeus "Underbart" is a really good one.
Aer . Ochsae en klassiker ... Bra de. Aeh en joke saent.
"White people dancing is always one of the funniest! " 😳 What?!? Jag menar - vaddå?!?
Nää, nu fick du minusbetyg, mr! 🥺😞👎
He has Sweden’s most ugly accent (Gävle) but he can sing, I don’t understand why you can’t hear that :)
domestic violence isn't considered "juicy" huh?
