  • This is jewellery for your waterfront house! This Chris Craft Calypso 35 adds some serious practical design into an exciting and fun package that could easily replace many 40ft cruisers that occupy many waterfront houses but only get used as day boats. Like all Chris Crafts I have driven in the past this Calypso 35 doesn't disapoint when it comes to the true driver experience and feedback that every Chris Craft provides. This is a boat that you take out if you want to return with a big smile on your face - gauranteed.
    Please enjoy,

I've always loved the Chris Crafts. This one seems to have all the power and then some but looks a little blah. Looking forward to the walkthrough. Thanks Dan.

Dan, what a beautiful boat. We are looking at many DC like the Gradys you have tested along with a few Pursuits, Albemarle 31 and 33' Southport. How does the ride compare vs the others. Thankyou

Looks classier than the GradyWhite Freedom.

Dan, help us sort this out: How does this CC Calypso compete against a boat like the Axopar 37. The Axopar is 2/3 the displacement, within a couple of knots top speed on 2/3 the horsepower, same cruise speed range of high 20's-low 30's, and offers more model choices. I'm not pro-Axoxpar nor anti-Chris Craft. I'm just struck by how these new Adventure Boats designs seem to offer more utility, comparable performance and more efficiency. Would a CC salesman counter with the sizzle (features, quality of components, etc.) & brand identity?

G'day Jack! Yes all of those points re Adventure boats are all correct. I suspect the person that a Chris Craft will appeal to is looking for the best build quality which a Chris Craft achieves but they may also be seeking a boat that can comfortably accomodate them for a super lovely lunch onboard the boat. The volume and deck space is more suitable for this on the Chris Craft compared to an Axo 37 for example and for someone who wants to nip out and have a nice lunch then this might appeal to them. I see a lot of people using 40ft flybridge cruisers for this purpose and this Chris Craft for less money compared to the cruiser would actually make more sense and be more practical, faster and and a hell of a lot a fun to whip around the harbour in.

@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife The "hell of a lot a fun to whip around the harbour in" was quite apparent in the video, Dan. Truthfully, I don't know how a boat review of e.g. Calypso could be worth watching without that 'spin around the harbor' for which your reviews are widely known. Guess by now you're off on another adventure of sorts - hope it goes well for you.
