@@Techtablets owner of a mi pad 5. bought it almost 2 years back and i think it was and still is quite one of the best value / money tablet (now a bit more in the budget friendly area). and i am saying this not because it the most powerful... but more like for the small price for a decent all rounder (great battery life, bright display with dolby vision 120Hz (even though not oled - that's it's only small downside that i see), very good speakers, and snapdragon 860 which is still a great chipset even now - powerful enough to run most things smoothly and also battery efficient and no issues). the price i got it then on offer was like 290euro and now you can find it easily at around 260 euro -> very hard to deny it's value for money. No MicroSD on a tablet is dead on arrival. How do you consume your content when you're out and don't have wifi (airplane). Overpaying for internal storage is a scam when there's so much space to add a microsd slot.
Good specs but frame looks bit thick for "pro"device in my opinion. I'm still in love with my first generation Huawei Matepad Pro. If I need a new tablet I would probably prefer an oled screen. Thanks for the review Chris.

Xiaomi marketing guy: Chris, we want you to review our products again. Thank you for the nice tablet review! Moments later... Chris: This Xiaomi product is poor quality. Xiaomi marketing guy: You are out man! Don't review our products ever again!
The reason they do it is to upsell their higher storage models. The margins for the base models are small, so they have to make money from selling the higher spec. Most people would buy the base and use an SD card if they had SD. It would then become very hard for Xiaomi to make a reasonable profit. This way, they can keep base models competitive. OEMs have the data and know what consumers do, so they understand that providing SD card slots equals lower profits. They also know that it feeds the Samsung monster, as Samsung are the main supplier of SD cards. Adding to Samsung's profits, a company actively trying to wipe you out is bad business. So Xiaomi is moving away from anything Samsung. Using the SD8+G1, a TSMC chip, and not using OLED means they can continue to dump Samsung out of their supply chain.
Thanks for watching! If you're new to my review videos I always have a Pros and Cons in there. From tablets, mobiles to eBikes it's in there the good and bad :)

*Now, there's a new candidate for testing GPU performance: Honkai: Star Rail* It's insane that the GPU of my 8+G1 is already maxing out in their latest map 😐
Wow this surprised me, was expecting the rom performance to be much worse. It seems this really will be the best reasonably priced gaming pad out there given the fact that unless you are willing to pay crazy Samsung prices there is nothing else with a Snapdragon Gen 1 available. Would love to see how this compares to the Oneplus pad / Oppo Pad 2 / Vivo pad 2. Will you be reviewing any of those? I love the aspect ratio and look of those new BBK pads but they won't be able to compete on performance with Dimensity 9000. I think the vivo is also the only one with video out over USB 3.2 as well. I do wonder though what we can expect in terms of android updates as a lot of these Chinese manufacturer pads tend to get neglected, my mipad 4 didn't get a single update.
Mi Pad 4 had terrible updates and yes I also expected to see some performance issues with the rom but nope it runs so well! Not sure if I will review the OnePlus Pad has they said there are no review units. If I buy one it's delivered in June. Far too late by then no interest or views.
@@Techtablets Yeah hopefully nowadays xiaomi is a little better with tablet updates. The OP pad seems to have gained some pretty positive reviews already. I think giztop and ali are both selling the vivo pad 2 and oppo pad 2 currently.

@@maharah93 The typical overly customized Chinese ROM issues. Over aggressive battery saving, background data restrictions, you have to enable a setting to allow Google Play to work. Just weird stuff that should not be in Android and really provides no value. Also, for some reason I can't play Wild Rift anymore. Works fine on my Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 which seems to have the same OS.
They probably were originally planning on adding a sim tray but backed out at the last second due to having to cut costs I wish companies made it more normal to use external storage like a SD card
Hi Chris, again a great review, thanks! @Techtablets A question: I want to purchase a future proof tablet mostly for remote work with zoom. Would you, in terms of selfie video & mics, rather recommend this Xiaomi 6 Pro, or the Xiaoxin Pad Pro which you also highly recommended? 💙
Unfortunately, the old pen is not compatible to Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro, so you need to buy the new one. Xiaomi channeling its inner Apple on that one. ;-)
Problem with Xiaomi is there miui which gets laggy overtime and has lot of bugs slow updates there only USP is giving good hardware at low price than flagship device competition but If I will have to choose between this pro and tab s8+ I will without a doubt will go for samsung tab s8+ there timely updates and one UI for tablet has way more function and is stable. Xiaomi's Miui is just streched version of mobile for table
For sure if you want the best software for Android tablets. OneUI it is. I use a S8 Ultra and it's so good, updates like big ones are slow but we get them. MIUI is sure to slow down as it does and sometimes new patches introduce bugs.
Great review, I like this tablet maybe it will be available globally. I already have the the pad 5 and it still perform very well. Battery life is excellent. The camera is actually decent for a tablet but no fingerprint senzor. But I am not going to upgrade with this one. I don't know if there is a big difference.
Which models? I really stopped buy those Xiaomi laptops because I lost a lot of money covering them, inflated prices from retailers on Aliexpress, import charges and then poor resale. Every one I lost 300-400 euros after taxes. And Xiaomi never wanted to end them to me.
@@Techtablets I liked your RedmiBook 15 Pro review last year, but you unfortunately did not cover the XiaomiBook Pro 14/16, and there are no english reviews of it on UA-cam, even though I believe that it's a great machine. Maybe TradingShenzhen could provide you with a review unit?
As the owner of the Xiaomi Pad 5, I think, that there is absolutely no reason to buy the Xiaomi Pad 6/Pro. In my opinion, the only obvious difference is the more powerful processor. SD 860 is still great. If you do not play heavy games, then this processor is enough for all tasks, including browsing, reading, watching videos, etc. The rest of the changes are minor. I don't need a USB 3.2 with a VideoOut. However, I would buy this tablet if it had an AMOLED screen. But for now I'll stay on the Xiaomi Pad 5. Although I will probably buy a Galaxy Tab S9 (S9+) as soon as it will be available. I want to own a tablet with an AMOLED screen again. And, yes. 3:20 - it's the place to charge the stylus. Will you compare this tablet with the new tablets from BBK? On paper, Xiaomi looks preferable. But how will it be in reality? It would be interesting. Thanks for this video!
Yes no huge reason to upgrade unless you really need the extra power. Good for gamers this model i fine. As for the BBK tablets I've asked OnePlus and no review.units. not sure I'll buy them maybe. But shipping is in June by then there interest is gone.
@@Techtablets yeah it is, but with ar glasses on the horizon tablets are gonna become a waste of money soon I just need a Samsung phone with a headphone jack guess I'll stick with a Galaxy s10
4:36 We need more tablets with AMOLED screens. Today I feel like I'm stuck with Samsung as my only option. I hate OneUI 💀 but I use it because the high quality screen is my priority.
Another honest tablet review. BTW, I seriously think companies should invest more on putting a dedicated 'Reading mode' on tablets like these, which will not strain the eyes. Focusing on camera tech in a tablet of this size doesn't seem all that necessary.
Nice review. Thanks. Interesting product. Regarding HDR support in Netflix: I had the same issue with my Poco F3 I think. In my case, I went to the apps menu in the settings, flushed the cache and deleted the storage, maybe also restarted the phone (can't recall) and then opened Netflix again. Obviously your user profile and login info will be reset to default, so you'll have to log in again, but when you do, you should have HDR if it's the same issue I had.
Hi, thanks for the tip. I did try that as it was a method to sometimes get from L3 SD to L1 FHD. But still no HDR, I think it must be Netflix isn't reading the widevine correctly or doesn't want to enable HDR10 and Dolby vision support? Hopefully this will change as I've been enjoying Netflix on it some much due to the size and weight. (Coming from my huge S8 Ultra)
Great video as always! And nothing from Xiaomi bringing a desktop mode in MIUI. Google needs to do this soon so that everyone can enjoy apps with advanced functions, work mode and games.
Thanks alot for the review on this TechTablets! you are probably the first few to review this. So far Im using my new Doogee T20 Tab, Id love to get a Xiaomi Tab once I decide. Tho the Lenovo Tab Extreme has just released
The title fits perfect , it truly is much better than expected. Makes me wonder if I should buy Xiaomi devices that are using the Chinese Rom instead of the global one. If this gets a global release, then it's going to replace my 2020 Huawei Mate Pad Pro. BTW Chris, what smart watches do you recommend for android? I'm not a person who does sports or get out too much sadly. I was looking at Garmin Fenyx 6 Pro or 7 Pro. I'm sick of Samsungs 1 day battery life and very, very slow charging speeds. What are you using? Thank you for the video.
Title does suit as it was a pleasant surprise I thought it might have bad throttling and thermals but not at all. As for the watches I use myself the Huawei Watch 3 GT Pro and it's fantastic up to 10 days battery life. It just goes so long. I hate the 1-2 day battery life watches.
@TechTablets me too. It's totally useless. To be honest, I'm not a fan of Huawei Watches at all. They don't work too well with Samsung phones. Maybe the newer ones do, I stopped buying them since I last used GT2. I've heard that Garmin is very good. But I've never used any. I'm surprised at how good the tablet is. A bit disappointing with the screen
as a person who likes to mess with my devices, you can do a lot of workarounds in chinese ROM to have for example multi language support and nearby share. It becomes the same experience as the global ROM but with 5x its smoothness (currently doing it with my pad 5 and it's game changer)
We are going USB-C for all IO, and jacks are in their final encore. The EU is pressing for one-IO-for-all, so it is a done deal, just when. OEMs may need a second USB-C port, though I have been using a splitter for years and still wonder why people complain about the inevitable loss of headphone jacks.
@@andyH_EnglandThe very reason that you have to use a splitter is why the 3.5 port should still be included. Removing it doesn't solve a problem, it creates one. You shouldn't have to be walking around with dongles and splitters to get such basic functionality. Most people who use wired headsets don't use the usb-c type. Most high quality headphones rely on the 3.5 jack. Furthermore, not all type-c ports and cables are made equal, so while I agree that type-c is the future, it doesn't solve the portability and compatibility (convenience) issues of mobile devices. The 3.5 port should co-exist with type-c. I share the same sentiment regarding expandable storage.
Hmmm, I don't really see why anyone would go for these when the Mi Pad 5 itself is already available with half its original price for some decent used units, unless they need the video out...
For long term use since not everyone is upgrading every year.. we all actually prefer a great IPS screen instead of an OLED.. we dont have to worry about burn in.. screen flicker.. yellow light siber.. etc..
90 Hz and 144 Hz don't make sense in most of the cases. One should go for 120 Hz since it's 24x5 and 30x4 which gives you best video both for movies and YT. And don't forget SVPlayer which makes things even better 😉
your Xiaomi reviews are very truthful and non bias and yet Xiaomi Marketing Team is still butthurt with facts like 1080p front camera on 13 Ultra. Xiaomi better get things together with you.
Not sure but they have messed about with me since the 10T Pro. And this isn't the first time they delayed or pulled review units. I'll see what happens but after my video from yesterday that's the end of it I would think.
Xiaomi can make pretty good value with their slave labour and goverment support. Still the way they approach things make me avoid their products. Had their phone, and it just seemed in so many ways opposite to what I want, ads poping out often within many apps, software deciding what is "good enough for you" like you can't zoom in a photo in a gallery above certain aspect (on samsung I can go like 10 times that), selfie cams being much worse, and other crappy communist shit like that...and they aren't even that cheaper than Samsung or iPhone anymore. You can buy something more affordable like Note 13 Pro but so you can an A55 and they would both be close to flagship level and great value for money, give a decent main cam and kinda passable other cams, Ok performance etc, so it's not like they are giving something so amazing. And if you want a real flagship a Xiaomi 14 Ultra will cost you as much as any iPhone or Samsung S24 Ultra, so it's not even gettting a cheaper communist phone, but just spending a bunch of money for a communist phone.
XIAOMI should find a solution with you. Lenovo tablets are great, this has better performance and 144hz but I would take the MicroSD card slot over being forced to get this with at least 256GB of storage.
Nice, I've been using Mipad4 since it came out, and it's working still and awesome. Could be an upgrade :)
Mi Pad 4 was a great tablet.
But yes it's time for the new gen to show it's prowess. the pad 6 with the sd 870 - it's also a very hard to ignore offer... and this pro version with that 8+gen one... even though a bit higher prices i still think it's more than a decent price at 430-450$. As much as xiaomi seems to be struggling a bit with the competition in the mobile phone area, I think they nailed it with their tablet offers

Great specs until I heard there's no headphone jack. A tablet with no headphone jack? Really? I prefer a wired headset while watching movies and youtube and when making videocalls or meetings. So... nah.. 😁
Yes no 3.5mm as they want to sell you BT headphones and earbuds.
Nice video bro. Great to see that u are still reviewing Xiaomi device 👍👍 I hope Xiaomi global will appreciate your efforts more 💪💪

Alright !! Thanks for the info
Same here. Had it since it was launched..
@@jackwilson5542 do you use stylus? If yes, how good is it? Also how good service does it give for taking notes?
No MicroSD on a tablet is dead on arrival. How do you consume your content when you're out and don't have wifi (airplane). Overpaying for internal storage is a scam when there's so much space to add a microsd slot.
It really does need that MicroSD slot. My 128GB base model here of the Pro will be out of storage soon if I download a few more games.
Good specs but frame looks bit thick for "pro"device in my opinion. I'm still in love with my first generation Huawei Matepad Pro. If I need a new tablet I would probably prefer an oled screen. Thanks for the review Chris.
The Matepad Pro's are awesome tablets, I have my Matepad 11 still works great and really nice type cover keyboard. 6.5mm isn't bad Vs 5.5mm 1mm doesn't make too much of a difference.
Hi! Coming from a Huawei matepad t10s user. What are much more better? Xiaomi pad5 or xiaomi pad 6 pro? Because I want to find an amazing tablet for schoolwork, gaming, and videocalls. Unfortunately Huawei Matepad t10s lacks alot of features when I first got it in my birthday, not that I'm dissappointed but just want better specs for a budget price.
Kinda annoyed by xiaomi how they make like 100 products a year but only release 20 globally 😑
Yes it's annoying and what's the bet that the Xiaomi Pad 6 is the only global model not this 6 Pro?
@@Techtablets Yep and at that point the SD870 isn't that big of an upgrade compared to the 865 of the Mi pad 5

Moments later...
Chris: This Xiaomi product is poor quality.
Xiaomi marketing guy: You are out man! Don't review our products ever again!
Sounds about right 🤣
how is it for taking notes.. does it support pencil?
why tf this stupid companies removing sd cart support. Its like a punishment for buying a flagship product.
Marketing dept does this. To force you to buy the more expensive models of course! It's all planned like the removal of 3.5mm so you buy BT earbuds.
Thanks Chris, great informative video as usual! Do you think it is worth paying the extra $ for the pro version over the standard?

How do i use desktop mode on the xiaomi pad 6?
Looks like a great tablet. I have the mi pad 5 and it held up pretty well. Still great with all the tasks I through at it. I guess maybe I will upgrade to this new version
Not a huge atep up mostly the performance. If you game a lot it would be worth it.
Chris, please review lenovo legion y900 tablet😊

It's insane that the GPU of my 8+G1 is already maxing out in their latest map 😐
Thanks I'll take a look.
What is the downside of using Chinese rom then?
If I buy one it will be the Vivo Pad 2 less coverage.
@@Techtablets Sweet, that would be great, no English reviews out yet, love to see that.
I bought Vivo Pad 2 with its pencil 2 and been using it 1week now. It is 80$ cheaper than Oneplus and Oppo pad 2 and with USB 3.2 while Oneplus and Oppo offer only 2.0 version. I hope you can review it soon Chris.
FINALLY!!! USB 3.2, honestly, this alone make the tablet worth buying 100%
Yes it does!!!! and finalllllllyyyy!
I thought you no longer will review Xiaomi Products?
As I said in the video I have the Xiaomi 13 Ultra I bought and Pad 6 Pro. But no more review units coming from them now, anything you see is what I decided to buy that thought was worth covering. None of the constant rebranded Poco and Redmi midrange and low end phones I'm done with all them.

Mi Pad 5 is still great!
Unfortunately, the old pen is not compatible to Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro, so you need to buy the new one. Xiaomi channeling its inner Apple on that one. ;-)
Are these considered reliable? I'm in the USA and it's hard to trust other brands for tablets not named Samsung or Apple. Do you trust the quality?

I probably will launch globally
Please do review the Xiaomi/Redmi laptops coming up soon, as noone english speaking is reviewing them.

120hz AMOLED wpiod have been perfect in this.
So Xiaomi is not still going to introduce dex mode on their tablets... Sad
Another honest tablet review. BTW, I seriously think companies should invest more on putting a dedicated 'Reading mode' on tablets like these, which will not strain the eyes. Focusing on camera tech in a tablet of this size doesn't seem all that necessary.
Dose it with GPS function.

Obviously your user profile and login info will be reset to default, so you'll have to log in again, but when you do, you should have HDR if it's the same issue I had.
....flushed the cache *of the Netflix app* I mean, obviously. 😁
(Coming from my huge S8 Ultra)
no simcard slot and no gps, total fail for my use. I could live without 4/5g by tethering etc, but a tablet with no gps how do i run waze.............
Great video as always! And nothing from Xiaomi bringing a desktop mode in MIUI. Google needs to do this soon so that everyone can enjoy apps with advanced functions, work mode and games.
Desktop mode would be great if they had their own POC mode like Lenovo and Huawei do with their tablets.

this tablet = android handphone big size screen experience ?
So what's their excuse now for leaving out the 3.5 jack and microsd slot?
That's a great place you are living in 😇
Thanks
Hope this doesn't have the same netflix and HDR black screen issues as the Xiaomi pad 5.
Nope none of that thank I can see.
Hmmm, I don't really see why anyone would go for these when the Mi Pad 5 itself is already available with half its original price for some decent used units, unless they need the video out...
Video out and much better performance (Mostly gamers) But yes the Pad 5 is still great and cheaper.
Still waiting for 8-9 inch Tablets with Mid-High specs and SIM support for calls. 😢
Sadly 8-9 tablets got killed off by larger phones and foldables, I don't think we will see them.
why no OLED/AMOLED?
Yes I would have prefered OLED/AMOLED I think it's cost cutting they used IPS.
For long term use since not everyone is upgrading every year.. we all actually prefer a great IPS screen instead of an OLED.. we dont have to worry about burn in.. screen flicker.. yellow light siber.. etc..
That's true

Yes with the style it does
thats a great price for a device like this 😍
Hopefully the global release isn't more expensive.
90 Hz and 144 Hz don't make sense in most of the cases. One should go for 120 Hz since it's 24x5 and 30x4 which gives you best video both for movies and YT. And don't forget SVPlayer which makes things even better 😉

Not sure but they have messed about with me since the 10T Pro. And this isn't the first time they delayed or pulled review units. I'll see what happens but after my video from yesterday that's the end of it I would think.
I think it's sad that xiaomi deactivates gps at its (more expensive) tablets, otherwise i would have purchased the tab 5 1 year ago
L1 on Chinese ROM this is progressing. now many people will buy even it not Global rom.
They will yes. Good move and makes it seems more certain they will release it globally.
