wow thank you so much for this video, I'm sold. I normally don't like bigger cages specifically designed for certain cameras, but this design looks absoutely stellar. I LOVE the design for the right hand. That's a problem I have with a lot of cages it's like once it's on you lose all photo functionality (and yes the GH5 takes great photos haha) so this actually looks better than a lot of the competition (I'm looking at you SmallRig & Lockcircle haha)
In what real life situation would you actually need to switch from a full rig kitted out for video to shooting stills with your main camera in the same shoot? Wouldn't you just have another cam dedicated to stills?
none. I'm just saying with other manufacturers it can be a pain in the ass to disassemble the entire rig just to get back to that 'stills' form. Some people don't have the luxury of having or using multiple cameras. I totally agree Chris, you SHOULD use two cameras for their respective tasks, but with a camera like the GH5 that takes amazing video AND stills, some people want to use it for both and are hindered by certain cages that take a long time to disassemble once fully kitted out. THIS cage look like you don't actually have to remove to get that nice form factor back. The entire right side being basically 'naked' i love, and the removable 'video' handle on the left looks awesome!
Ah that makes sense. I didn't realize you meant the good thing was that you could just leave the cage on all the time so that you don't have to disassemble it at all regardless of whether you're doing photo or videos that shot. My mistake.
Awesome cage! I want one :) ( why using shotgun mic for interviews? Get a reporter mic! On IBC I use an old 25 euro sennheiser 516 mic. And it handles noise a lot better because it only picks up around where you talk. Your shotgun mic picks up every sound in line of your mic)
Yes, I agree with all of you on the price, but I loved the look and feel of the cage. but one serious flaw is that I've read it is one of the most slowest cages to assemble and disassemble. That for me a serious reason for me not to buy. Time to look at the SmallRig.
each one of the other cages have drawbacks. Either they are designed where the audio module can't be attach, don't consider the possibility of a metabones speed booster being attached or loose access to certain buttons near the handgrip. It may seem like a scam to you. But Zacuto is really the only company out right now that actually built a cage to max out the use of the GH5.
Agree completely. What manufacturers are charging for cages and other equipment, too, is outrageous. I'll focus on the story, not the gear, and save my money.
It’s funny how people want to buy the CHEAPEST ACCESSORIES for their expensive cameras. It’s an investment. Yes Zacuto is expensive, but it will last a lifetime. Cheap gear, cheap metal breaks. Zacuto costs what it does not only bc of materials, but r&d. A buddy of mine bought a cheap top handle for his $7000 rig and sure enough, the metal cracked after 3 years. Zacuto stuff is an investment. Did you buy the CHEAPESt lens possible for your camera, the cheapest monitor, microphone?
Well designed and thought out cage, but quite pricey. Thanks for the video, but no thanks for that horrible audio. All the videos from this C5D crew from CineGear had this problem. Tsk tsk guys!

Quite like the look of that cage 😊
I like the way you looked at the camera when you heard the price
is there a piece similar to that shown in the video on the left of the camera. It is a nato item that curves and connects it to the handle
Looks interesting, but ouch, my ears. Check audio levels next time?
for real. Audio is so wack.

Is there any GH5 cage out there made for use with the battery grip?
nope.
Film city where you at with the knock off we need it lol
As someone coming from the C100 I have been missing the hand-strap. But I will not pay $500 for it.
Best design by far for the GH5! However "outrageous" price! Sorry... this time I'll wait for a copy!
What lens is on the GH5? Does anybody know..
Its a Zeiss. CP2? idk
Hi name of the lens please
Some Zeiss. Like a CP2 or something.
How are you guys reviewing camera gear and can't even get a proper mic?
$500 for a cage ? Yeah right lol. Much rather buy some glass or something else, anything else lol.
small rig or those yelangu ones. but i'll rather go with small rig ,it's much more customizable

James Jackson exactly what I was thinking

Could you please recommend an alternative?
over 400 hahaha someone is feeling extra special

Great design, mediocre price point, horrible audio.
that guy looks like he wants to sell me a pound of coca not a cage!
500 bugs for a cage? muhahahaha....
