That's okay, I wear what I like. Not for anyone else. That hat at the end is awesome! (to me, at least.) I don't mind if you don't like it. Just close your eyes when I talk. Hmmm, I've heard my voice - that's not so good either.
Hahaha, if a guy who's job is literally talking about absolutely fun new niche *games* cannot wear fun 'not-normal outfits', the world is doomed far before we think it might be anyway. I suppose a finely tailored grey suit and a clean shave is what is expected the next time you talk about a new edition of King Of Tokyo, Tom.
This game is one of the game on my list, I saw it at a store recently, have never played Catan, and after a couple videos, I think I'll pick it up... Keep shining and thanks for the video.
I bought this game at Gencon because of the bonus gift card and Star Trek Catan score counters. It is a great game. As much as I love it I really hate that fact that all the players actually play as Starfleet. Why are we competing with each other? With all the alien races in Star Trek I would have loved to seen different ships for each player.Even the early bird score counters were custom made to reflect different races. Could cost really be the reason to dumb down the theme of this themed game?
I can't help thinking that to fit the theme they could have done with some sort of space exploration element with a deck of encounter cards. If only there were a Catan varient with those elements in it that they could have adapted. Maybe one that didn't work so well in the original form that could have done with a little tweeking...
I own a copy and have only played it once testing a two player catan variant. (My only complaint about catan in general) I don't have 3 available players most times. (So I play catan junior most times). The game is still a welcome addition to my collection.
I want a empire building game where your the Borg. A game with the potential for extremely different gameplay experiences each time you play. A Borg game would have no use of a research tree paradigm yet technology would be one of the main factors on how u must play to grow your collective.I wanna be the bad guys
The ships sure give the game a more chaotic look than the normal Catan roads. I love Star Trek and I like Catan, although I actually only like it with the cities & knights expansion, so I'm not that enthustiastic about this game yet. I'll probably buy it anyway though :)
Incorrect I'm afraid. Spock was briefly Captain of the Enterprise in The Wrath of Khan, until Kirk assumed command after learning about the theft of the Genesis Device.
While I'll admit that this looks little better than normal Catan, it's still Catan and something about the gameplay just isn't very appealing to me. Maybe it's the trading combined with dice rolling and the randomness of whether you'll get any resources or not. I'd likely accept it as a gift if someone gave it to me, but still won't seek out buying a copy for myself. Different tastes. :)
Just because you assume that everyone has played Catan doesn't make it true. I have plenty of gamer friends who have never played it and don't know too many of the mechanics of the game. Also if all you were looking for was what is different then why didn't you just go to board game geek and check the forums quickly?
I hate to sound like I'm insulting you, I think you seem like a fair man, but I think you would benefit from dressing more normal. The outfit, especially with the hat at the end, just comes off as tacky.

If I said that, I mispoke. Maybe I meant the Kirk card didn't FEEL like Captain Kirk? I honestly don't remember saying that.

I’d love to see an updated review 😆 2022

Doctor Who: Victory of the Daleks poster in the backround! so cool
The Expanse taught me that asteroids produce a lot of valuable material. I wish they used a black hole for the nothing hex.
Thanks for this enjoyable and informative game review. I am now thinking of getting this game as a gift. Cheers.
Vulcan Empires?! When did that happen?
Haha, I'm glad you understand my point of view, as well I understand yours.

I was scare you were going to break the delicate pieces as you were pouring them all out.

Funny & informative video. This game is now on my wish list!
Kirk's picture does look a little off.
Best component drop music to date!
I love what you wear and your reviews!!! Your a board game legend!!!
I wish they would make a Star Wars "Siedler" :)
Did you just call a Klingon Battlecruiser a freighter? What do you fly, a garbage scow?
I'm glad the Trek series never showed us conga lines of starships xD
Thanks for the info, Captain Spock.
I would so trade in the original Catan for the Star Trek Themed game
"Beam me up Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here" - Rear Admiral Sulu
Not "starbases" OUTPOSTS! It's important to use correct terminology because Starbases are different.
Awesome!

On one hand yes, but on the other I don't think it would be a good setting. SW is more about conflict.
10:59 Hahah!
star trek themed RISK like game would be excellent.
Tom, at the end you look like an Amish Computer Programmer!
:P
Star farers is good also
I'm not sure I would.
Shiny!

*Cough*Nerd*Hark*
Apologies, man. But you know I had to do it. :3
To funny. Looking at your games on the shelves I’m sure I played all off them at one time or another:) 😀😀
Yahy a Monopoly killer.
Catan is cool, even though I'm a fan of Star Trek, this game doesn't look half as appealing as Normal Catan. Presentation isn't as cool.
ist ein echt cooles spiel :D (smoking)

Star Trek Catan? *shudder*
Battery has no fun at all and is sad
HORRIFYING dumping the pieces!!!
