There are now more of this radio under different brand names, the main differences are the power outout on the bands. The CRT 6900V that is version 7 has the Electret and Dynamnic mic audio control, it also has the NRG and Noise Gate that is now becoming for other brands now and the latest being the President George II but that radio is almost twice the price as the CRT 6900V. I know this video is 2 years old but thought if anyone was interest in the same radio but in a different coulour display as most in the list below are either orange, red, blue, green and some being a combo of colours between the channel readout and the frequency display. Also the newer radios of these listed below now have a PC connection input directly on the back pannel so no need for the PC connection cable hanging out the back. Great video, and I do like this version due to the colour display being orange as it would blend in nicely with a Uniden base scanner as they tend to be an orange display too. Nice! Hello 390! I just bought one of these yesterday from Bob's. I actually got the limited edition 100 watt version. I have a couple of questions I forgot to ask when I was on the phone with him. I didn't think to ask him about converting it, I guess I just assumed it was converted already. If it's not converted hopefully it's not hard to do. Second I hear you cant just throw your power mic on it or it will mess the radio up. Something about unhooking pin 4 on the mic plug to make it work. 3rd question is is possible to mirror the front display on your computer, like a yeasu does or similar radio, because that would be sweet! Thanks, Jed
@@390WagonMaster Hey Mike. I have 3 if them, One in my work car that i don't use anymore since i am retired, One in my 98 Lumina and i can't remember if i had that car there at Darrin's when i met ya there and one that i carry as a spare when i travel. There a little off frequency in transmit and receive. I have all three programed the same with 60 channel's on each band (just so it's nit any difference when i go to some split channel's that i may wanna go to) Other that that i love them. Some times when I'm running the Hopper Built 2X8, people say i sound like I'm clipping or chopping off?????? I'm currently trying to set up a way to test the transmit frequency over a known on the spot Kenwood radio and if I'm successful I'll just add the necessary off set when i transmit. I can't remember the exact setting i have the clarifier programed at, But the receive can be clarified and the transmit can be adjusted as necessary when i key the mic and use the clarifier to change the transmit freq. When i receive, it goes back to the set receive freq. It's not unlocked as if i claifiy the receive, the transmit doesn't follow. Hard to explain, It may be easer to chat over the phone sometime on it. BTW ya ever dig that Hy-Gain VIII out t see what switch ya need? I may be heading your way in June for the Baker Man/ BBI break.
Bobs just sent me an email. Mine will be here Tuesday. He has it set 1 watt dk swinging 30 watts on low power AM for running with my CarlBuilt 2 pill. High power 12 watts dk swinging to 50 on am so I can still get good results without amp. Side band he has set to 35 on high power . Can’t wait to hook everything up in my truck. I’ve been looking at this radio for years . Your video is what pushed me over to get the radio. Soon as you hit on the receive that’s what made my decision. The receive is the most important part of the radio imo
Do you know how to turn the dead key back? Hi power is labeled and I have a diagram but no one seems to want to share the info on lowering the dead key. ✌✌
I have not used a 5555N, I can tell you that in talking to Bob (the importer) he wanted to have a quieter and more selective receiver. This Top Gun in my opinion does that. I would love to do an A/B comparison sometime down the road.
@@390WagonMaster Thanks for getting back! It seems like a good, solid radio, and very quiet. Think I'll be giving Bob's CB some business. Have a Good One!
So don't quote me but if I remember correctly. Back when these rigs came out, I talked to him on the LL and he said he designed the receiver to be much better than the said other rigs. I do not own any of the other branded rigs so I can't compare. However, when I compare the quad5 to 2950-70s Lincolns, 955s, 2510s and others the Quad5 just sounds (MUCH) better in every way. They have that Old school EPT 3600 (early versions and NOT the Ranger boards) sound with out the drift. IMHO. Thanks for watching. Cheers
With the programming cable you can program from 25.715-31.305. 60 channels per bank. Write to radio. Read from radio. Write to radio again to lock in your programed frequencies. You can set the swr for protection. Default is 10.1. I programed to 3.1. Set your voltage range also for protection. Really a unbelievable radio!
Is T.G.T. producing the newest version? There is an older Anytone, possibly original run out on sale and would that be a no go? I cannot handle the crt BLLLLUUUEEEE RETNA RAZOR edition, the deep orange/red is a must. Also... says p.a. but no p.a. jack..?
My question is, is the orange backlit face LED or is it that old electro illuminance crap, that burns out.. My anytone 5555 display went out within two weeks,😞
Can you do me a favor if you have time and make a video on how to adjust the high and low dead keys and the modulation? I have this exact radio but can’t find nothing to go by, I’d greatly appreciate it, I’d like to set it up to run a amp someday
A quick question about using a power mic. Is there anything you need to do before using a 4 pin power mic? I read somewhere that number 4 pin is hot and operates the channel up/down on the mic and it could damage the radio unless you leave #4 unattached.???? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
If I remember right you have to activate the voltage on the mic line via through programming. Otherwise you can just plug in a power mic like any other normal radio.
I see them on FleeBay every so often, they don't command an arm and a leg either. Kind of a sleeper radio so they go fairly cheap. Your Comment inspired this video.. Cheers ua-cam.com/video/3bYYBBQ27-I/v-deo.html

There is two versions of Quad5, TOP GUN QUAD 5 hads orange channel display and Quad-5 AT5555 hads Green channel display that's anytone version i think top gun quad5 is better.
I have the Maas version. Very noisy receiver, the clarifier isn't great with its step function plus the channel changer is terrible, you only need to rock it back and forth to change channel. It feels like it would come off in your hand very easy... Better off with a 3900
The Quad 5 is supposed to have a better designed front end (according to Bob, the importer www.bobscb.com/shop/home.html ) and IMHO and understand I m stickler for good audio... It is darn near as good as a 3900. ( the new version, not the V.1... V.1 is best!) Yes the encoder is kind of a dog, but livable. As always, thanks for your input. Cheers my friend.
