I do exactly what you show, but sometimes with one exception. Sometimes when the 2nd lowball offer comes in, I don't decline it. I just ignore it. This leaves the person unable to submit another bid for 24 hours. I've had a couple of instances where a few hours after ignoring a lowball bid, the person will just go ahead and purchase at my asking price.
Yes I’ve had that happen to when I haven’t been able to get to it and it’s pretty funny
Oh my gosh, I always feel guilty after they make a couple of offers. I won't anymore!! Thanks!
Yay! 🖐
I've learned not to deal with people like this. If they can't afford $10-$20....they're gonna be a problem in the long run
My father in law always said that, when negotiating, the person who says a number first is at a disadvantage.
Each situation is different. However I think your point has quite a bit of merit, even if it’s just from a buyers psychological reasoning for offering a low ball offer.
Generally true!
This was “meet in the middle: advanced course”!! Excellent negotiating!! 💯💯💯
Yes, the 400 level. Lol
This was fantastic. I'm a newbie..just dealing with a similar situation and I did everything wrong.
I won't the next time.
Glad it helps!
When I was selling on EBAY, I didn't sell anything on "offers". I put my minimum bid required for that item as the price that I was willing to take. if I got a single bid--the item was sold. This was so easy and eliminated a lot of problems.
That's what I do. I had never thought about his strategy.
It's great when another buyer just steps in and buys it at the asking price during the negotiations!
Yes I love that. Lol
Just the other day I sent offers to watchers and within minutes one of the items was purchased. To my surprise it was purchased by another buyer at full price and full calculated shipping cost East coast to West coast, you just never know when the right buyer comes along
That’s right!
You look like you are having fun negotiating with this person! So good for you. However, I just don’t have time to deal with this amount of messages. I really hope this doesn’t happen often bc they are wasting your time.
It really doesn’t take that long. And it paid off with a nice sale in the end.
This is the classic used car buying game. Everybody swears they know how to play the game to get a good price on a used car. Well flip the script and put yourself in the sellers shoes. Being the reseller now make you the used car salesperson. You are out to make as much as you can. When I sold used cars. If the buy was a low baller. I would tell the possible buyer that if I take that offer into my manager. I would be looking for a new job. You don't want that to happen. So what is a real number you would like for me to take to them? If they come up with another low ball number. I would just walk away and stay within their sight. If they had money and they really wanted that car. They would walk over to me with a real number in mind. Selling on eBay and dealing with the low ballers is the very same thing. You will have 4 to 5 tire kickers, but only one real buyer will step up. So to make good money on eBay. You need to think like a used car salesperson would. If they really want it. They are going to buy it for asking price, or really damn close to it. You just have to wait for that right buyer to step up.
Great insights! Thanks for that!
Love the psychology Dominic. That's why watching all you UA-cam resellers is so educational. Everyone has a different perspective.
Yes, and as a bonus, I’m a psychologist. Lol thanks
Great advice! I deal with this type of back and forth almost weekly. I think the wording of your written responses to buyers feeling you out via messaging is brilliant and intend to use your method. Yes!
Dom - this is quite possibly the best informational video you have ever done! This type of buyer “strategy” is happening more and more. I DEFINITELY feel more emboldened now to try your seller strategy. I also now know not to negotiate via eBay messages anymore. That would be equivalent to showing your cards in a poker game. THANKS for sharing!
Great video, thank you for posting. I have sadly experienced situations where buyers heavily negotiate and then when you finally agree, there is a "problem" when they recieve the item. This is especially true of buyers with low feedback numbers.
Yes, that could happen but fortunately I haven’t really had to deal with that in any significant degree but that’s just me
Thanks Dom! Negotiation is an art and any any help is greatly appreciated.
Indeed!
You are cool, calm, and collected throughout the negotiation process. I feel like that's half the battle. Thank you for the pointers. I will definently use the "meet me in the middle" technique when close enough to what I feel is fair.
Thank you and keep it up!
That is a really interesting point about conveying confidence! Great video
Thanks Emily. Glad that helps!
this was incredibly insightful mate, cheers!
very easy to be worried about a buyer running off and you just wanting a sale, but patience is the game.
Lol...they asked me what my lowest price would be because I did have offers on it...which I have started NOT putting Offer...anyway, I found same item at a lower price for them & sent them the location.. I changed my item to show "No offers."
They bought my item at my price. Cha-ching!
I had a textbook listed for $101 and sent an offer to a watcher for $94, they countered $71, which was lower than the lowest price on this book by other sellers and included a sympathetic message with their offer. I countered $94 again with a message that I saw the book for $50 if they kept digging and good luck. Later on they purchased a Patagonia sweater from my store and a few days later someone else purchased the book full listing price 😀
That is so true about feeling guilty. I like the way you negotiate. Will definitely use this. Thanks.
Great!
Thank you for clearing up the point about it being a myth that you have to counter every offer. We have heard disquisitions on this subject by a few influential UA-cam resellers. So it is great to hear from someone like you that it isn't true. I love your negotiating skills. I have been in the selling business for most of my adult life and I enjoyed watching how you handled this buyer.
Thank you so much! I feel more confident dealing with offers! 🤠
That’s great to hear!
Love the psychology of negotiations here! Great vid Dom!
Great advice, I think we’re all familiar with low ball offers and any advice in finding if they are really serious about paying something close to your price is great. Thanks Prime Time. Hope to see you tonight on the live cast.
Thanks Gary!
This is something I need to get better at, your videos help me a lot. Thanks for another great video. :)
Thanks Teresa!
I dealt with a buyer just like this the other day. Great video and advice. Thanks!
Thanks James!
Great Negotiation Strategy Video. Thanks Dominic
We are gonna have to get you a crown. You are the king of negotiating and the play it entails. Long live the king!
Lol, thank you for spoiling me!
Great information you shared . Thank you
Thank you as well
Thanks! As I was watching this I got an offer and instead of caving to almost half of what I was asking, I declined it. Now I wait and see if they come back with another. Thanks for the great info. I'm just getting serious with Ebay selling. Watching lots of videos. This was excellent.
Thank you! Hope it helps!!
More great content from PT.....and extremely helpful. Thanks, Dom, for sharing your experiences.
Thanks! I need a reminder on your name!
Prime Time Treasure Hunter Adam
Great video! I love the tactics and logic you use. Very helpful! Thx
Thank you!
Hmmm interesting! Thanks for this! I never even thought about them sending a third message for this reason.
Yep!
Thanks for the lesson.
I will definitely use this information for my eBay items. Thanks.
Awesome!
Great advice! I plan to try this. Thanks for the info!
Thank you! Hope it helps!
Great wisdom!! Thanks so much for sharing. Love that u specifically say how to with sharing real life scenario :)
Thanks! Keepin it real!
Thanks for the video!!
Sure thing
I needed to hear this!
Great!
Great video! I loved every minute of it. The suspense was killing me! Ebay The Beast can be fun!
Thanks Dennis!
Hi, I love your strategy. I also get tired of getting low ball offers & wasting my time.
Thanks!
thanks. very educational.
Thanks!
Good to see someone has success with best offer. I no longer do a best offer because I feel like just having that option conveys that you do not have confidence in the selling price. People will still make offers sometimes even when you do not have best offer. When I did best offer many would do low ball offers. Many buyers just dont realize all the fees we have to pay.
Great tip, I have been leaving $ on the table trying to salvage sales to low ballers. Going to deploy this tactic next go around! Just subscribed
Great. Let me know how it goes
I love it - great stuff! I kept thinking of the scene from Monty Python's "Life of Brian" where Eric Idle is selling the gourd. Thanks for the great insights.
Great advice. Thank you!
Thanks.
I like this strategy. I never know what to say to people when they say "what's the lowest you'll go" I will keep it in mind thanks.
That’s great!
Excellent video and advice! Thanks!
Thanks!
Very helpful info!
Dealing with that bidder is like taking crazy pills!! go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here. Thanks for sharing the madness. had a good laugh.
😂😂😂 I am a neuropsychologist you know. Lol
I block people who send me extremely low ball offers I don't have time for that.
Yes I agree. I have a video on blocking buyers.
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter can't they come in as a "guest" even blocked? I posted a comment above too. I don't want to play negotiation games. I can be good at it but not a choice. I have an inflatable 4' pumpkin on sale locally. New. Yesterday a lady came back asking me "would you reduce the item a little bit." I felt my price is good, I put that always in my post I am not negotiating, exact cash only, and did say "I'm sorry I can't do that but thanks for asking." I could have posted it higher to bring it down for yes to negotiate in future but ten again I am playing the game I don't love. Thoughts? TY!
Carol Giambri they could but if you suspect that you can contact eBay and they will tell you. I’ve never had that happen though. If you don’t want to negotiate then I would handle it just like you did.
I declined and blocked a buyer on a lowball + rude comment. Next day a new offer from a brand new account. Declined and delisted item. Then I received a message about how much he wanted it? Hmm why the lowball?
@@johnwoods1668 because he thought he could get away with it
Wow this was so real . I lived this..lol Thank you for the new strategy... I am absolutely gonna use it!!! 💯
Awesome!
Great response to a buyer who hasn't put $ on the table. EXCELLENT. Good 2 Go Prime Time
Thanks!
Great info!! I don't like to negotiate because I don't know how to respond. Thanks so much for the tips. Loved it!
Glad it helps!
I've gotten to the point where if somebody comes in with an offer of less than 50%...and I've been seeing that quite a bit lately...I decline and put them on the blocked list because they are just trying to waste my time. In my experience, they just won't come up enough with their offer to even make the conversation worthwhile so I would rather just be done with them. The only exception to that is if somebody puts an offer on one of the items I put out at a ridiculously high price to get the views.
Yes I’ve done that too. I have a video on blocking buyers.
A lot of times the low-ball bidders are resellers just fishing for inventory to flip. Usually they have large feedback numbers.
I either decline outright or just ignore their offer and let them be stuck for 24 hours unable to make another offer.
@@shawnk8687 Or they will try to find an excuse to get you a NADI to get it free or refunded.
Very very good tip about how to negotiate. Really appreciate this video.
Thank you!
Great info. Thanks!
Thanks!
I always worry about losing a sale, even if I counter. I need to get over it, you’re right, there will be someone else out there! Thank you 😊
Yes, if your item is good the buyers will come. 🖐
Prime Time Treasure Hunter sounds like a quote from “Shoeless” Joe Jackson 😁
Incredibly valuable video
Thank you. I am happy to see how many liked it.
Great teaching! Had the message offer conversation happen before.
Thanks Beth!
Def going to try this out! Thanks
Woot woot!
i get this all the time i give them an offer and they don't buy then someone else comes buys it full price
Love when that happens!
Loved this tip! I tend to do the same and don't fall for the "shaming" messages like, oh there's another buyer that has a similar one cheaper, lol, well go buy it from them 🤣🤣🤣 . Always hold your place.
You don't NEED to hold your place, but you should be comfortable to sell for what you want. If there another seller selling for less, then they buyer should buy from them.
Thank you!
Right, shaming me about my item is never going to work. LOL
Great strategy! Will use this in future.
Great!
This is a good strategy for those HARD TO FIND & unique items👍😊
Thank you!
Excellent information.
Thanks
Very good information. I've experienced this several times. I mean no disrespect with the following but people in the state of New York are notorious for sending low ball offers in my experience. I have to chuckle at the tenacity and god love em for trying
I have not noticed that about NY
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter just my experience I guess. I deal mainly in funko pops so that may be another issue
Great technique, great video.
Thank you!
Thank you Dominic, I’m not good at negotiating, I get nervous, I will save your video and share it
Hope it helps Donna!
The more offers the better because other watchers see these offer numbers on their screen and worry that they may miss out on the item and they'll bid higher to get the item, so let the buyers make as many as you can through the bid offer system,it always has worked to my selling benefit.
That’s a great point.
Perfect training video for Q4! Thanks! 😉🎰🎲
Thank you!
Yay! Love Ryan and Alli!❤
See you there!
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter I have a previous engagement at 730 but will definitely tune in as soon as I can.
As a daily buyer on EBay, my first offer is my best offer. If I get a decline, I just move on. Remember buyers: “Good deals are like buses, if you miss one, there’s another right behind it.”
If they counter, I just explain that my first offer is my best offer.
That’s fair but also keep in mind that there are unique items out there, some of which I sell, where the buyer cannot go to another place to find it. A perfect example are my single highest grade CGC comics.
Prime Time Treasure Hunter I’ve rarely regretted walking away from any purchase. I may not get get the best st the buyer’s price, but I’ll get as close as possible at my price.
Gotta love these buyers lol
It’s amazing. Lol
Thanks Dom! I didn't realize they were limited to three offers.
I don't counter low-ball offers anymore because eBay gives the buyer a few days to accept or decline the offer and no one else can offer or purchase the item. I do note what I would except when I send the decline notice. " thank you for your offer of $50, but the lowest amount I could accept for this item is $80."
Looks like I should be more vague about the amount.
Yes, it’s 3 offers per item in most categories. I’m vague if they are far off.
This was so timely. I watched this video yesterday and I got that question this morning. What is the best offer you would take? I am going to use your strategy
Diane Propson great! Hope it helps!!
So true....I love the games on some of my items ;) Love the Aquaman shirt.
Yes, it can be fun depending how you look at it
If someone sends you messages down-talking an item or demanding you do something about the price, block that user.
Yes, I have an entire video about blocking buyers.
The gall of this buyer!
I just blocked my first one. They are also a lot of new eBay accts
@@michellecastaneda4104 I agree. Though I do accommodate polite, reasonable people who have a good reputation.
Michelle Castaneda Sometimes it’s necessary
Some good advice. For me is too much bargaining / haggling.
Yep, I don’t mind it. Some just don’t like the back and forth
Nice video first time watching your channel. My only thing with best offer/sending offers is when is eBay going to stop letting these buyers get away with none payment on these offers.
Exactly! I hope with managed payments they may be able to do something about that. Problem is, but still won’t prevent them from them being able to return the item
Thank you Dom! Yes it just happened to me. But, not again my friend, not again! Lol
Yay! Go get em!
Great negotiations
Thanks!
I was getting low-ball offers on an item I knew I had priced fair 3 offers 3 declines. Buyer then sends msg saying sorry for bothering you with my fair offers for your used item I'll just go buy a new one good luck selling it you'll need. Very next day someone else bought it for the full asking price! You right stay firm
Thank you! I literally told a prospective buyer that’s not how I negotiate on Facebook marketplace. She asked me to take $10 originally on a $16 item that I’m paying shipping for and then when I declined, she said “how much?” That’s when I sent my “this is not how I negotiate” message. I couldn’t care less! 😂
Lol good for you
Ugghhh, I really dislike that game but have used this strategy in the past to get them to get off the messages and submit the offer.
Yup. Gotta do it sometimes
yeah, when there are many watchers on your item, it is best to wait it out and ignore the low ball offers and maybe accept an offer that you feel is the right amount.
Exactly right
It's called negotiating. Great video.
Yes, thanks.
OMG!! How ironic, I just finished watching this video and get an E Bay message asking me what is the lowest offer i would accept for this item!!! Let the fun begin!!😜🤣🤣🤣😂
😂😂😂 let me know how it works out
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter no response to my message. Totally cracked me up though!!
Worked out great!! Listed Item for $49.99, accepted their offer for $45 !! That is awesome!!!
Baily nMe sweet! Congrats!
Interesting,
I ran into the same type of buyer on an item I had several of. I told the guy that I thought it would sell out at my listed price and I wouldn't take less. He kept trying, and it sold out without him buying one. If you have a good listing price, I don't see why you have to negotiate at all.
That said, there's a book out called "Never Split the Difference", and I disagree - you can split the difference if it works to your advantage. If your price is a bit high, you can do what Mr. Prime Time did - he ended up getting $6 more than he was willing to accept. Well done.
Totally. Spilt the difference makes a lot of sense if you play it right
😂😂😂👏👏👏👏 amazing!!! Congratulations!
great vid.
i feel disrespected when i get lowball offers lol
I like when you get a low ball offer then few mins later sells for full asking from another buyer!
One of my faves. Lol
I would like to thank you for this video. I have been a buyer for 22 years on eBay. You have helped me understand the view point of the seller. I have a question. If I make an offer on an item, how do I assure the seller that I am genuinely interested in the item, and not just jerking them around? I have always thought that if I message the seller that it would taken a a sign that I was serious. But you call it a trick. Help me here. Thanks.
I get low ball offers all the time. I don't have a big enough budget to pay that. Will you please come down. Please... This is what they tell me. The same story 3 times just this week. I have also noticed they are aften are new to eBay. That worries me even more
Right, you just have to stay firm
Yes, I get that quite often. I'm trying to put food on the table and they give me a sob story because they want some pretty trinket cheap!
Jane Mays right...annoying
I usually lower the item price rather than negotiating. This puts the fear that someone else will swoop in and get it. And from my experiences, I am happier if someone else does swoop, as there tends to be fewer problems that way, and it makes it likely they will buy something next time. The main exception is on items where the offer comes from someone relatively local where the shipping is $9 instead of $30. At that point I am saving $21 so I can give some of that back.
I do both
Do you put minimum offer amount on the listing?
Nice man! This is Awesome, only thing with eBay is they could have made a good offer and not pay, and knock u out of a sell for few days!!! Great Negotiation Skills!!! 👍
Yep, this drives me crazy! Has happened to me several times lately. I begin to suspect it's a another seller with a similar item hoping there's will sell while mine is held up.
Yes, I cannot stand that!
Does a buyer have a certain number of offers to use and when they use them they can’t offer anymore?
