The soda cans can be embossed with a design. Place the metal over a textured surface and rub. Embossing machines are made for this.

So pretty. Another source for inspiration is quilt block patterns! btw: south Texas temp 108* ... case of canned sodas in car ... explosion ... continue to find and cleaning more sticky spots in the car! The cans are still art worthy! 😁

I do quilts, scenery quilts, mostly. I like to make them look like stained glass too.
I love to do curtains that look like stained glass and when the sun shines through it's so bright and colorful.
I've tried real stained glass but I wasn't good at it. My soldering always clumped up. 🤷
You did great explaining how to do this.

Just as an aside - it might have been the flux or the temperature of your heating element. Mind you, this is just from my research, I haven't attempted my stained glass project yet because I'm waiting for cooler weather so that I can work outside, but from what I've read, that is the main causes of clumping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @UpcycleDesignLab

Thanks for your question. The cans do fade in the sun. I believe that you can find sealers that provide UV protection so I would definitely recommend using one if you plan to put your project outside.
