It’s so annoying that the Blues are never talked about. They are literally the second best team in the west and have a really bright future. Luka and Corwin are too biased to even acknowledge them. Every time they are brought up they’re immediately dismissed.

First off, props to Jessie for being the only one that the Blues get any respect from. Like I didn’t expect to hear much for a teamed bounced in the second round, but they did beat the Wild and came an OT loss and a last second goal away from beating an Avs team that’s pantsing everyone else so far.
Secondly, my pick for most expensive jersey is going to be very specific. When Toronto finally wins the cup, the Conn Smythe winner auctions a game worn jersey for charity, and some rich dude plunks down a stupid amount of money in the celebratory haze. Assuming we aren’t living in some sort of Star Trek post scarcity society by then.

    • @jasonsmith5226

I said the Blues would be our toughest opponent in the West,& turned out they were. But you kinda left a bit out. Yes we won game 1 in OT,& completely dominated the game. Yes,we got lucky at the end of game 6...after dominating analytically the entire game also. You have no clue if you'd won in OT,had Helm not scored. We only know you got largely outplayed,& we were the better team that night. OT can go either way,ask Edmonton last night. Similar situation facing elimination, except they played a much closer territorial game, than you in game 6. They might've even slightly outplayed us...you can't honestly say St Louis outplayed us analytically in game 6. But sure, you MIGHT have kinda stolen it,had it got to OT. And you still would've had to win game 7 here. Certainly possible, but you act like it's a certainty.
Also, you fail to mention,if not for a historic collapse,(& also comeback) in game 5...you easily could've lost in 5. Certainly possible, but hardly likely. Just cracks me up how biased some fans are. Yes,if everything had gone your way,you were the 1 team that COULD HAVE beat us,so far. But if merely 1 or 2 more things go as they usually do...you lose in 5. Of course we got some breaks...so did you in 2019-all Cup champs do. In the end,Avs in 6 is about what it should've ended up....although analytically it looked more like Avs in 5,through the course of the series.
But I have total respect for the Championship mettle,& intangibles of St Louis. I think going through you-prepared the Avs,& helped them develop resilence they didn't have in prior seasons. But let's not get ridiculous-you weren't close to the better team that series. But you could've had a CHANCE to steal it.
And before you whine bout Binnington,as I know you will...almost nobody outside of Missouri, thought that was dirty by Kadri. Sure it hurt you-youd rather your Cup winning goalie in. But Husso was your starter most the season,& started the playoffs-hardly your normal backup. We have won 4 playoff games with an actual backup goalie,(granted a good backup)-& more importantly won 2 playoff games,& got to OT of game 7 vs Dallas in the bubble...WITH A BAD 3RD STRING GOALIE-Michael Hutchinson. Not his fault-he did his best,he's just not very good. We also had like 5 other regulars injured, including Landeskog. And Husso is Patrick Roy or Broduer, compared to Michael Hutchinson. You guys have a great team,& got some bad breaks...but not close to what we dealt with in the bubble,& while what you said had some truth in it...it completely misrepresented the facts overall,& ignored all data against you. Let me get this straight-when you lose a close game,or even an unlikely result like the end of game 6-it was bad luck,& you really should have won-whether you got badly outplayed analytically or not. But when you win a close game,or have an unlikely comeback,or result-it just counts as a win,& no other analysis is needed? I get it now.

@@jasonsmith5226 as a blues fan, I’m over it when it comes to Kadri and binnington
My belief is he meant to hit binnington but he didn’t try to injure him which isn’t out of the realm of possibility with Kadri
With that being said I agree that the Avs are a much better team but the blues did have a realistic chance of beating them in that series which most Avs fans won’t admit
In 2019 the only series the blues were favored to win was the Dallas series and sometimes the better team doesn’t win
And to counter the argument that you can’t blame injuries, you can’t say the series in the bubble would’ve had the same outcome if the Avs were entirely healthy against Dallas

    • @jasonsmith5226
      @jasonsmith5226 Рік тому +1

@@zaneps151 I agree with all of that actually. Except I don't think Kadri purposely hurt him,but I'm not gonna say it is impossible, with his history. He certainly isn't a bit scout, just cuz he plays for my team-lol. Actually this season he has been on his best behavior, cuz he knows he gets no benefit of doubt,& 1 incident could cost him millions. That was a completely fair,& measured response. You are correct,I can't guarantee we win that series, cuz it's possible Grubbauer doesn't play well...he did it in game 6 vs Vegas last year. Though he was also great early that series. But you are correct I don't know for sure we win. However,if we are talking extreme probabilities-when you lose in OT of game 7,& blow 4 leads,in game 7...AND get destroyed by their PP-theres a very good chance if Grubbauer is in net, instead of Michael Hutchinson-not to mention, half our PK wasn't hurt,& Landeskog our captain isn't hurt-odds are we win that series, only cuz it was so close with all that happening.
However, that stuff happens,& I do think it helped build some resilence,& taught us some lessons, that is helping this playoff. And my point also isn't that we would have won the Cup or something...I don't think we would have. I don't think that version had the depth of this year. And more importantly, hadn't yet developed a mental toughness or resilence that only seems to come through tough times/heartbreaking playoff losses. If we were healthy,I don't think we beat TB...we actually probably lose to Vegas in WCFs. As you said we don't know for sure, but I think Vegas probably gets to Cup Finals,if we had advanced-instead of Dallas-whether we had those injuries or not. At the time,I figured we would get stomped by Vegas, considering the injuries,& Hutchinson having to play-but I just wanted to end our WCF drought.(18 years at the time). In hindsight I'm glad we didn't,it was more special ending it this year,& going even further.
But I was giving you crap, but you seem like a fair,& reasonable Blues fan. I have complete respect for your team,& the Champions on that roster. I said before the playoffs that St Louis was our toughest matchup in the West,& more of it was just intangibles-cuz it's so much different playing a team that THINKS they can a win a Cup,& probably eventually will learn those lessons,(like Edmonton) vs a team that KNOWS they can do it,& actually HOW to do it. I'm not saying once we beat St Louis,I thought Edmonton would be a walk over,(never thought we'd sweep em)-but I did think we had crossed our biggest hurdle-the 2nd round mental thing, but also playing a team full of proven Champions. I thought the Avs were playing somewhat nervous vs St Louis,& getting through them,& past the 2nd round did free us up some. Also the opponent,as tough as McDavid,& Drasaitil are-Oreilly just brings a complete game that is so underrated. McKinnon would never admit publicly that it was "easier" playing those guys-but he did say after the Blues series that O'Reilly is the toughest matchup he's ever faced,& I agree. Cuz he's so tough deffensively. I think it does prove how good the Blues are...& they are a legit contender right now-today. I think you need to improve your blueline,& I have no clue about your FAs/whatever. But if St Louis strengthens their back end a bit,I think they go into next season, with as good of chance as anybody in the West. Total respect for your team & organization...& getting past you guys was more relief than excitement. I didn't want any part of a game 7 vs a team like that. Who won game 7 of the Cup Finals in Boston. I think Edmonton was kinda nervous,& a big intimidated in the games in Denver. I know that wasn't the case with St Louis,& wouldn't have been a factor in game 7. No coincidence we are 35-4-4 at home vs everybody not named the Blues, but 2-3-0 vs you guys.

@@jasonsmith5226 and you’re being respectful back which I appreciate
Most Avs fans have so much unearned arrogance which makes it almost impossible to root for them but I’m glad there are fans like you who aren’t so far gone that they think the Avs can’t do anything wrong
Our defense will be fine though, Perunovich is going to be an asset and hopefully our version of Makar which is why Leddy won’t be resigned
Husso is someone I can either take or leave because he’s so wishy washy
If you guys lose, I’d say get a more reliable goalie that doesn’t have to rely on who’s in front of them because kuemper and grubauer are both goalies who are products of who’s in front of them (in my opinion)

I hope Holland finds replacements to keep the offence at top 3 level (it was a top 3 offence in the NHL), but focuses on fixing that defence and goaltending. speaking from months in the future with new (and way improved) goalies, i 100% agree. i’ve definitely become more of a fan over the summer since the playoffs, so it’s safe to say i was overly salty about the loss to the avs, but with our goalie it made complete sense. even with how campbell’s been doing, things are looking up. i think losing kane for half the season will really hit us hard, but hopefully (like you said) defence and campbell will step up so that’s one less thing we need to worry about this season.

As a couple other comments say, props to Jesse for mentioning the blues… (yes diehard blues fan here) the fact that nobody (I get Luca not saying anything) said a word or kept the discussion on the blues for more than 15 seconds is disgraceful… the only team to not get swept by the avs, and 2 very close games away from actually winning… the binner hit changed that series and for the blues to take it from 3-1 to 5 seconds from ot and possibly forcing a g7 and not get any respect is horrendous… nobody can physically tell me that putting the blues 7th on their lists and then having the oilers get swept by the team they got 2 games off of, and the eastern conference being a cake walk, u can’t tell me the blues should be 7th… if I were to have an unbiased list it’d be this: COL/TAM/FLA/STL/CAR/NYR/EDM/CAL… horrible from the team for not taking more time to discuss the fact that the blues were the second best team in the west this year… and also, for everyone that picked the wild, what a joke, we swept reg season no way we were gonna lose to those bums… I rest my case

Carolina has more good players than anybody....but no great players basically. And I have no dog in the fight with them,I'm Colorado fan. Laline would be a great idea for them though. Or even Scheflie...as him,& the Jets both need a fresh start. He's become to comfortable there,& nobody can dare challenge him,& his often apathetic defense. On a new team he won't run shit,& will have to confirm to fit into the room. He's kinda become poisonous in WPG.
BTW-my team had 119 points,& was in a season where regular season results literally meant nothing. Only making the WCFs,& really the Finals...meant anything even before the season. But I still watch every game & love every regular season game. I get what you are saying,& I agree totally on the stats. Nobody cares if Jokic scored 2,008 points...it's all about averages. Exact opposite in hockey,Kadri would've been right around 100 points if he played 82 games. But nobody says what pace you are on...you are lucky if they even mention his 87 points(think it was)-came in only 70 games. But I understand most fans arent fanatics like me. But I get excited to watch every game-though half the games down the stretch-even the Avs didn't care about-lol. But that's why this run is so special-whatever happens from here.
