Thinking of picking up this guitar, this was a really good user review and it definitely helped so thank you. One suggestion I would make is to show the back of the guitar, heel joint especially. Great video though and good playing too
:D Thanks for the kind words man and for your ibby review, it helped me in making my decision. I do hope more people share their vids on this axe, it's pretty solid and deserves some more YT love.
Aww man.I was almost set on the s520 as my first Ibanez but this one looks great.Any thoughts on which one I should go with?Any major quality differences that you know off?
Stefan Jankovic Yes sir, while the S520 is a great thinbody s series ibanez for the price, for just a bit more, the rgat62 offers better electronics and a neck through construction would bring you more sustain, the body type might feel more familiar as well since it is a thin double cutaway but not as thin as an S. Both guitars are great, I really dig the S seroes overall but if it were me, I'd take this one given the price point and better electronics. Plus coil tap/out of phase sounds. Hope this helps.
Nice tone! Questions; 1) does it have a good tuning stability? 2) in case i wanna Change to active pickups, is the wood thick enough to fit in a battery Box?
Thanks for the kind words. That's a great question, it really depends on your budget and your preference. The best thing is to try both if possible and go with your gut. Both guitars have some similarities but a few differences as well. Both guitars are satin finished, have a 5 pc Wizard Maple Walnut necks, but the 721, I believe, has a basswood body that's bolt on construction where the Rgat62 has a neck through construction on a light mahogany body. 2 factors that affect tone, not necessarily one being better than the other but bolt on's tend to be 'snappier' (if that's the word) and more percussive sounding, where neck through guitars might sustain a bit more and are better suited for lead work. The 721 is a tad bit more expensive but includes a case and offers incredible fretwork, better electronics (pots and wiring I mean) with Cap pickups (consider these, really really good pickups but not quite branded aftermarket pickups). The Rgat62 has Dimarzio pickups and although the fretwork is not as solid as the premium's it's still pretty good. Both could use better tuning machines but the 721's bridge is superior. Still. If I take the rgat and add locking tuners, better wiring, tusq saddles and a case that still leaves me just a bit less than what the 721 where in the 721's case, a set of aftermarket pickups and tuners will cost me at least an extra $200. One last thing, the RG body would be more comfortable than the RGA if you're playing sitting down as the rga has no arm contour on the body and feels a bit odd at first. Tbh both guitars are great. Sorry for rambling but if I had to choose I'd pick the 721 if I was looking for an 80s rock/metal guitar and if I wanted something a bit more different, and maybe a tad more versatile to focus on lead playing I'd take the RGAT62. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the answer! I'm not really deep into guitars as I just want an upgrade to my first guitar (Ibanez GRG170). Im suprised that you say the RGAT62 is more versatile as I thought the Ibanez RGA-Series is more directed to Metal than the RG-Models. For now I think Im gonna go with the RGAT62 just because its 200€ cheaper which is pretty much for a student. Hope the guitar won't be to uncomfortable for me! Have a nice day!
I agree! This axe definitely excels in dirty tones but it can produce some sweet cleans as well, especially in the 2nd and 4th positions! I think the amp I used in the video (Yamaha THR 10X) did not provide a proper representation of what it can do clean. Thanks for watching :)
@Rafael Bernal haha thanks a lot! So this guitar went out of stock in the entire country by the time I was gonna get one. Ended up increasing my budget slightly more and got a schecter. But this ibby does seem like a very fine instrument. Was definitely gonna get it, had it not been gone
@Rafael Bernal I got the C6 pro! It's been amazing. Great QC and build. Looks really cool, got the Aurora burst. I just had a hard time getting used to the extremely high output pickups. But eventually I figured that theres a volume knob on the guitar and I should try using it. That helped.

Great review!
Friendly suggestion: please aim the camera a bit lower so the viewer gets a better view of the guitar. Thanks!
fearisyuronlygod Thanks for watching and for the suggestion! I'll be sure to do that for my next vid.
Nice playing! You're far beyond decent, man give yourself some credit! 👌

Great review!
I'm currently thinking about getting the Ibanez RG 721 or this one.
Which one would you pick?

I thought the clean tones were great too, I was just struck by the dirty sounds!! I Had a THR10X ... I loved that thing!!
I love mine. It packs quite a punch and is great for both travel and recording! Gain to spare as well \m/
Yay for 3k views lol
Add a 10 to that! ;)
Great review man. How’s it holding up a year later? I’m planning to get this in a few weeks.
