I'm finding out that not only did some customers never receive their guitars, some ended up getting 'Chibson' copies instead of what they custom ordered. That is wild! Please share any stories you might have!
I ordered the 10s red sparkle strat on Reverb. It came quickly and exceeded my expectations. Alder, Alnico HSS, roasted maple, stainless frets, bone nut, $400. It was delivered quickly and plays flawless. Great guitar
I ordered the 7-string burl top via Reverb, and it arrived quickly (about 2 weeks) and is amazing. Literally the nicest guitar I own. I plan to order the snow-camo sometime in the future.
I kinda love the color scheme on this. I just got one of my dream guitars. Esp Grass Roots lp-60 from Japan in Honeyburst. I am in love! Great video Raf!
I also ordered a 10s Buckethead guitar. The first lefty model they ever did in fact. 10s communicated at every stage, the guitar arrived quickly and I was blown away by the build quality. I changed to the guitar to my preference, it's now one of my best sounding guitars and I own Gibson, Ibanez, EVH and Strandberg. I think the hate came from early production problems that 10s had but that was a long time ago and they great now.
Heres my story with 10S I purchased the Buckethead "inspired." Ordered directly from their site to ship to US total was $699 and received it in 4 days. I love it, the quality is far more than I expected. The biggest problem I had, no sound from neck pickup. I contacted them asking for a wiring diagram and they responded with an apology and explained that they do everything by memory. Then offered a discount on another guitar if I'd like to buy one. I ended up figuring it out, the output wire solder broke off, soldered in and done. It's heavy, which I like, pickups sound great, fingerboard probably isn't real ebony, it came with incorrect machine heads, but I still like them. All in all, this would've been a horrible experience for someone unable to correct the mistake. Maybe $100 on top for labor. I still would deem this guitar worthy of that price. I've had it almost a year, and everyone else is blown away by it. I still love it to this day. However, I don't plan on purchasing another guitar from them.
@Unknownn_nx3 mine didn't need any set up except the string change. I did end up lowering the action just a bit, but that's all preference. I'm pretty sure it's rosewood or Pau ferro that's been dyed black. I love it still. Mine is a bit heavy. There's a young man that uploaded a video on his and he was able to have all "the correct spec" besides the body size on his by contacting 10S directly. Hope it works out for you 🤘🪣🐓
@Unknownn_nx3 I generally stay on Eb and E standard. It was a nice experience to play it in C standard or even drop B with barritone strings, but I got it for BH inspiration. I use ernie ball hybrid slinkys
@Unknownn_nx3 these pickups I like. Good sustain. I'm playing moderate gain. High gain is good. It's the cleans that need a bit of help. I measured the Ohms and I remember the bridge being a bit on the hotter side. That said, I have no idea how thick the wiring is or how big of a magnet is used. They don't sound thin or tinny, just good. Not bad at all. Coil split, you have to drop your mids for it to sound more like a single coil. I don't like how they sound split with high mids. THAT sounded tinny and thin. That being said. No idea how consistent they are with pickup winding.
i have to get my hands on that single cut. purple and gold is my favorite color scheme on guitars - i've got a chapman purple/gold tele style, an ibanez purple/gold, but no LP style!
Great review Raf. Thanks for that. First time I heard about that brand, just visited their page on Reverb, and they have really beautiful guitars. “Inspired" by ESP made me laugh a lot 😅 Keep up the good work, mate.
I ordered the Green Crackle, and when it arrived it didn't have any clear coat, and had other major cosmetic differences to the advertised item. It took me over 5 months of being ignored and lied to to eventually get my money back, and the whole time they were still listing this for sale on the website. The worst buying experience of my life
Ive got a Michael Kelley tele now. Love it. Good value for the money 😊. Purchased an used Esp guitar blacked out with active Emg pickups. Bought it to flip omg loved that one too. Should of kept it made a few dollars though. Been wanting to buy guitar kits to build my own someday. Lot of stuff is too expensive 😢. Cool guitar. Have a good one ✌️✌️💯🎸🎸
I mean.... it sounds like a guitar. Considering the high price point (yes $500-1000 is high considering what you can get for less), I could just get a Harley Benton and have a guitar that sounds like a guitar. You can get a HB Les Paul with a Floyd Rose 1000 for less than 10S' cheapest Les Paul. Also, much like the HB, this will have similar used market value to the cork bois out there, if "resale value" is important to you. So really, why not just save the money and get two guitars for the price of one of these?
Harley Bentons are great for the money. It just depends on how important to you that extra bit of 'build quality and playability' is to you. Transparently, this is better built and has much better fretwork than the HB guitars. I see these are about $600 shipped (based on the website). One of the nicer Harley Benton SC-Custom emgs are about $500 shipped. But you can also buy a HB SC Dlx Gotoh for about $330 shipped. Is it worth the extra $100 or $270? Depends on the player and how particular you are about the styling. Then again we can also make the exact argument comparing those $300-$500 HB's against the newer $200 Fireflys, which are fantastic for the price. In the end it's all dependant on the player and what their sweet spot is.
@@RafsGearReviews the problem with Firefly's is their inconsistent availability and routine scammers/bulk buyers who are just scalping the prices. HB at least has a great return policy and is generally readily available. I'm not a brand purist or anything, my point is just having played guitars across the price board, it really doesn't make sense to me to pay over $500 for any guitar, especially now. Any "build quality and playability" issues can be remedied with very little effort on the part of the buyer. With all the free resources on how to work on guitars now, it just makes no sense to me. Hell, I learned how to fret crown, solder, route, etc etc etc all from a handful of videos, a small amount of investment and practice. Then again, people will pay to get their guitar restrung, so maybe I am giving people too much credit.
@@riffsnoleads Yeah, the model inconsistency definitely holds Firefly back from reaching a larger audience. You can remedy playability and get any guitar playing great. Can't really do much on build quality but most guitars are well built to the point that most issues are only dver going to be aesthetical. On a side note, I've made so much money restring and cleaning guitars it's sad 🤣
And as much as I love my slew of high end guitars, I'm by no means a brand snob in any way either. I love my Earts, Fireflies, Bentons, etc just as well. They all play great and serve a different purpose.
Just a suggestion. pick up a boss katana head (MKII). they're stupid cheap... like $300 new, but can find them around 200 used. on the 1w setting, the built in 3" speaker is perfect for room level, and you can record the guitar directly into the pc. cheers!
I was actually going put in a custom order with 10s before all there drama started it was basically thier GF Baritone in blue but the week I had all the money for it was the week all their mishandling came to light.

Forgot to mention it's a regular Les Paul body size. Not over sized like the Gibson. Also, it was advertised as 24 fret, mine came in 22.
