And "My fossil fuel donors will be upset if I do anything to make their profits smaller". Even with gerrymandering, the GOP wouldn't have the cash to televise their dubious talking points without the massive cash donations made by corporations that are responsible for climate change. Big Oil is just like the tobacco companies thirty or forty years ago. It is not only bad for the environment and our future on this planet, but it is bad for corporations, their employees, and the long-term interests of stockholders. Starting with the rise of corporate raiders in the 1970s who focused on boosting short-term profits, regardless of the after-effects of divestitures, outsourcing, etc., this short-sighted approach is the main cause of why US companies have fallen off the charts as global innovators and competitors. Business schools actually began teaching this destructive tactic, and it began to infiltrate government during the 1980s, leading to travesties such as a military that cannot move of cook its own food without lining the pockets of companies like Halliburton, a Postal System that outsources at increased costs (once the short-term benefit disappeared) things that it had done in-house, a health system that struggles to deal with disease outbreaks, food and drug safety inspection systems that rely on the companies that they are supposed to oversee, and on and on. How did this country so quickly elevate nasty _après_ _moi_ _le_ _déluge_ narcissism to being a virtue?

Pete Buttigieg is so cool, as in rock star cool!! He is brilliant and controlled and informed. The Republicans that don't understand who they're trying to talk over eventually just get owned. It happens every time but I get it, it's their job so they keep trying. It's entertaining. Lucy, the football, Charlie Brown.
