Now we just need to wait for a mail from 3D Bee, where he writes:
"Harstem, I played a game against protoss this week and it was terrible. First he harass me with Tempests, which are too OP and oneshot my drones. Spores do NOTHING against this kind of harass and Queens are just too slow to catch even Tempests. Then he proceeds to dismantle my army with his F2 attack move. Even though he teched into Tempests, it was too easy for toss just to transition into regular deathball army, that just is unbeatable. It was absolute clown fiesta. Protoss is totally IMBA...
Cheers, 3D Bee"
I totally red this in the captains voice

Proposal for Beating Grandmaster with stupid stuff:
Guerrilla warfare
“Guerrilla warfare is a form of irregular warfare in which small groups of combatants, such as paramilitary personnel, armed civilians, or irregulars, use military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids, petty warfare, hit-and-run tactics, and mobility, to fight a larger and less-mobile traditional military.”
This means, you are not allowed to have a main army. Always split up your army in small mobile forces worth 10 to 15 supply and constantly try to harass or to bait the opponents army and then ambush it. A guerilla squad could consist of blink stalker, oracles to trap units, and disrupter and warp prism for hit and run tactics. Dark Templar are also an obvious choice. But, no Archons, Immortals, or heavy air units. At all times, no more than 2 guerrilla squads may attack the same location as organized attacks are not part of guerrilla warfare. To win, you have to bleed out the opponent.
Hard mode: you are not allowed to have a main base with all the tech and production: spread your bases, production, and tech buildings across the map as a real paramilitary group of protoss!
Insane mode would be to build all tech structures around the map. (not within any base at all)
However, i feel that to be realistic it should allow (even in the insane mode) to build a real base, as long as at one point of the game this was the base of the opponent. In other words you are allowed to capture the city and turn it into your own.
This is not stupid stuff, these are legit tactics. I hope he plays this one.
This may work early game but a grandmaster is going to eventually send a bigger army than what you can stop with two 15 supply armies. I'd drop that one requirement after the ten minute mark, or change it somehow so his army must always be split into thirds or each attack must always start with dark templar.
So basically place original Starcraft 🤪
He should be allowed to unite the army defensively or against the main. Guerrilla insurgencies irl can be really well organized and coordinated and theres tons of examples in modern history where they decide to stand and fight for a big offensive. Just no air or heavily armored units so he realistically cant fight a sophisticated high tech army that has colossus/thors/tanks/vipers/etc
How soothing is it when the video loads and you hear the first "clk clk clk" of his keyboard.
Actual ASMR
Haha nothing like the clik-clik-clik of high quality switchies on mechanical keybois.

@Harstem Proposal for Beating Grandmaster with stupid stuff:
The floor is lava! no units which have feet that touch the ground (Stalkers, Zealots, Adepts, Dark Templar, Immortals, Colossi). Sentries, High Templar, Archons, and Probes are okay since they hover.
This is great! I hope he does this.
Sentries and HT floats
Disruptors are another ground unit that's available, they hover!
Also, I assume all air-units are fair play too, of course.
Sounds cool in theory, but it probably means that the best strategy is just rushing into skytoss.

Proposal for Beating GrandMaster With Stupid Stuff: "The Infection"
There is a virus going on in StarCraft II. Luckily, Protoss units have shield, so they are partly immune. Unfortunately, in battle, you can lose your shield. This is the challenge:
You can do any build, any units, anything. BUT there is a catch: when out of battle (meaning you are not being attacked), if ANY buildling or unit's health bar (so not shield) gets damaged, you have to kill it to stop the infection from spreading.
soo mass archon?
Yeah, I think banning Archons for this challenge would make it less easy to be cheesed. I'm sure the captain would take it upon himself to not go mass Archon anyway, but just to make it more clear.
you're playing vs zerg way too much

EMP Upgrade: I'm about to ruin this man's entire army
Hi harstem. I had a idea with all of the new void ray game play coming out for bgwss.
I call it old school: its where you dig up a build order or tech path; as with all the changes using the
mothership core is impossible i know. But you try to replicate as closely as possible a build you like from WOL or HOS and try to win using that build.
If anyone can do it I know you can.
Request: A cinematic! A small detachment moves to the other side of the map, clears a small area, builds a pylon, and then attacks only with the units that are warped from that pylon. Yes you are allowed (and encouraged) to build 100 gates. You can defend in any way that you want. Non-warpable units may harass, but should not be those that win the game.
Image if one of these replays ended up on "Is it imba or do i suck?"
That last game. So good! Love the content man!

BGMWSS ideas: Find a way to make halluc useful in combat - snipe detection, mix hallucinations into your army and even your harass.
And another idea... disruptor drops! I am not quite sure how stupid that is but I never see them (admittedly I have only been watching starcraft again for a little bit since I stopped in early hots), so let's see it.

BGWSS - One Gas is enough/Resource preservation
Everyone hates it when you deplete a base and are forced to take a new one, especially if you aren't prepared to take it. So, as to make what little you have a last longer, you are only allowed to take one gas per base until it runs out, as to preserve the gas from the other geyser later. If you want to take another gas, you have to take another base, or deplete your geysers. If you wish, you can also play that you can only have one probe per mineral, so make it last twice as long.
What about performing "Soul train" against terran?
2 years ago Nathanias died to pure mass sentries play on stream, that was so hilarious you definitely should try that
sentry-only will be too hard, so, any units allowed but sentries must be core unit
How about a sentry+archon drop? You drop the archon, workers start to run, sentry uses forcefield to stop them in a tight spot and then archon just blows up stacked workers? Maybe an HT with a storm instead? I don't actually play the game, so not sure about the timings and cost of all that, just throwing this out there
Harstem,
I would love to see you opening vs P and Z with a proxy double gate into 2 and then 3rd and 4th zealot for dat early game harrass, with macro out of it. Keep the vids coming!
@Harstem, what is the most Disruptors you can build while still beating a GM? Can you do it with a pure Disruptor/Phoenix army (for the attacking part, other Units are allowed to be used as defense)?
You asked for another strategy that might work.
I think that can be just playable and stupid enough:
Build Oracles, make Oracle hallucinations. Build a proxy shield battery. Then attack early with mass, partly real Oracles. After recharging the shields quickly, send more waves. The hallucinations will prevent the real ones to shot too quickly.
The whole thing should be quite cheap, but needs fine micro. Can you make it?
You are right my man, keep it strat based. Mechanical changes might be nice for a Harstem Vs the fans type fair where it is used to 'even' out a match up against a lower MMR player. On that note, you are right that a zoomed in video would be annoying to watch, but if you had your editor do up something with the replay and possible a 'Harstem POV cam' to the side or to highlight attempts at engagement it could be pretty interesting to see.
This is the content i wake up every day hoping to see
Hahah another one bites the dust! Thanks for the episode~
Proposal for Beating GrandMaster With Stupid Stuff:
Unit roulette - you can't build 2 of the same unit in a row (except probes). You want to play 2 adept, 2 stalker opener? Well you need to get adept stalker + adept stalker.
Need an observer, but you just built and lost one? Well, tough luck, will need to chrono boost an immortal or disruptor or colossus out first.
Getting DT's? Well, you need to warp zealot/stalker/adept/sentry between each 2 DT's.
Want to get an archon? Warp in a single high templar, then any other gateway unit, then get the 2nd high templar etc. etc. etc.
micro god challeng
Love your vids, Harstem! Do you think you’ll be able to beat Seral at WCS this year?
yes, i will 3-0 him next time i see him
Harstem hell yah! Counting on you to bring Protoss to the finals :D
Suggestion for BGMWSS:
You need have a hallucination of every copy of every unit in your army, other than the sentries.
E.g. You move out with 3 lots, 1 archon --> you need 3 zealot hallucinations and 1 archon hallucination.
You need to try to hallucinate outside of his line of sight, and the hallucinations need to be there while fighting.
Applies for warping in: warp in 2 zealots, you need to warp in 2 sentries with them.
Idea: Manpower Shortage
Your main units are zealots and phoenix. All other unit types are each limited to 8 supply.
Hard mode: T3 units must be rescued. Their tech buildings must be proxied in hidden parts of the map. Each T3 tech structure must be placed in a different location.
@Harstem Proposal for beating GMs with stupid stuff:
Short and simple, but can be quite interesting.
Act like your every unit are Adepts.
Every unit you have can have the same attack style or special attacks, BUT in order to harass/go in you need to Shade your units towards enemy. (I imagine that you have duplicate for every unit and you send half your army in, that can also be hard mode)
If you want to cancel your shades, you need to recall your units.
I loved proxy battery tempest on golden wall, especially if the enemy didnt mine the bottom mineral thingy. So fun
I wonder if Maxpax used this as a guide for his Tempest build .... big brain
Offensive mothership recall all in sounds fun as a subpar strategy! :)
The goat man does it again.
Suggestion: King Me Challenge.
You can only build tier 3 units once you've successfully walked a probe into the mineral line of your opponents main base. Each time your probe reaches the "back row" you earn one round of warp ins/one round of unit production that require tech from the Templar Archives, Dark Shrine, Fleet Beacon or Robo Bay. The initial probe scout doesn't count as getting the back row. No all ins you must try to play a macro game. Dropping probes with a warp prism is allowed gets you a "king" and counts as a "back row." Uprades don't require you to get a "king" you can research them at any time.
This is lowkey good.
I love that Harstem includes losses of his strategy and doesn't release videos making it look like a surefire win cheese
Totally true unlike some other content creators
Request 2: What race am i playing? You have already done wrong race strategy, when you refused to see the actual race of your opponent, that was wonderful. This time you must be confused about your race. For example, if you play terran, you can chose to see yourself a protos (we'll call that terran-protos): You can only build your structures next to supply depots, you can drop mules to fix your units on the other side of the map while they are going home (that is akin to recall)... etc. On another hand you can play protos-terran: Your probes must stay next to any building that is warping in until it is finished, because they are "building it", obviously no warp gate, and immortals attack by "standing ground" as if they were tanks, a few upgrade structures should be built to the right of the gates (since obviously they are addons)... etc.
"I'm not gonna scout" gets ling flooded
BGMWSS idea: Florencio style mass air. Get 1 stargate per base. All stargates have to be building the same unit. You can spend the rest of your money on whatever you want. You are trying to predict your opponents tech switches and have the counter already massed.
Idea: Protoss zerg rush
Like a ling flood, but zealots (with or without charge)
so like max pax but instead of transitioning to macro you just plot like 5 gates down and spam zealots?
i think its best without charge cuz if your getting charge you might aswell have archons with it also
@@lolmanmagee2785 I don't get the idea of your charge archon logic. But I like the zealot overpower idea. Hard on gm level but still possible with early hard pressure I think.
@@bedolschnutzler2604 well. the reason almost all my mid game zealot pushs include archons is simple zealots cost only minerals and archons essentially cost only gas meaning your 2 base production can have the size of a 3 base attack
the only reason archons would not be included is if its a very early push before i would get a twilight council
(if i already have a twilight i usually wait for the templar archives as the 40s wait can equal about 3-7 archons totally worth)
@@lolmanmagee2785 lol I do know that but we are talking about bgmwss so I don't know why u should add archons I like the zealot only idea
Haha this is really great content!
If you'd beat Serral with Tempest harras you'd be the maddest lad
What are you going to do when your BGMWSS account has more MMR than your RTR1 account?
Maybe all along...the meta was the stupid one
RTR1wSS
I said this before but ill do it again. Try doing protoss creep challenge. Your units can only move around pylon range or warp prism power field. So like zerg with their creep you spread out your pylon powerfields around the map. Good luck.
Oh i have an other one, but it might just force you to play air only..anyway the challenge is that you go robo as fast as you can and when you attack you have to pickup mirco your units after they've dealt damage. You know they're full of adrenaline you need to let them calm down, up in the skies the pilot gives them a pep talk then you send them back in there.
He did this already. ua-cam.com/video/cDo9Dfam3VI/v-deo.html
I smashed the like button sooo hard this time!
finally i know where the minecraft villagersound comes from thanks! 12:03 @Harstem how much money did they pay u?
What's the most all in build protoss has? Probes getting pulled and everything. That would be fun to watch if it's viable.
Great video Harstem! You mentioned your discord link but I don't see it. Would be great to submit ideas there. Cheers!
Proposal for Beating GrandMaster With Stupid Stuff:
Hi Harstem,
I have a challenge for you that might challenge your magnificent StarCraft 2 mechanics and your 3rd Grade Math skills.
In this challenge, you are not allowed to have more Gateway units than your Robo and Stargate units combined, which might work well in the early game, but might be hard in the mid- or late game.
If this turns out to be to easy for a SC2 god like you, try to have your supply evenly split between Robo,Stargate and Gateway units, as a harder version of the challenge.
the beginning of a new era the tempest meta XD
BGMWSS suggestion: Any interest in revisiting "gateway units only, no warp gate" now that you're almost GM w/ terran?
Try a mechanic where you buiuld 8 Orbital command centers and limit your cv count to 24 so your army size can be much bigger than your oppnenet by dropping Mules as often as possible.
Bust out the Zoun void/adept all in!
Proposal for Beating Grandmaster with stupid stuff:
Proxy every single one of your tech buildings, but all your unit production needs to be inside your base. No warp ins to outer pylons.
Do The Need for Speed challenge, only make units with movement speed upgrades and you once you start getting the speed upgrades, you must get them all as quickly as possible
Soooo
Zealots and void rays only?
(Observers can’t attack...)
Firebal612 prism as well, I honestly don’t think it’s the hardest one he’s done
Do good old storm drops.
Maybe proxy it
p.s. I absolutely love your videos. I watch every single one of them. gj
@Harstem - love your content but as someone who hasn't ever played a lot of SC2 can you try to describe why these challenges are 'stupid stuff' and what you are worried about as a counter?
I can offer you one-third of a genuine Australian kangaroo for each description (conditions apply).
It would be really hard to explain. For example, tempest are a late game unit that costs a lot of gas and minerals that could be used on not dying. Tempests are also only good against spores and capital ships and people dont rush captial ships and tempests are bad in low number and expensive it requires a lot of eco basically, its a late game unit. Still doesnt explain why its stupid, you basically have to play the game yourself or else you wont be able to understand. There are wayy too many reasons, it would just require a lot of time to explain, for very few people. Just not really worth spending 5-10 minutes of video to explain about half of the reason why something isnt smart for like 5% of the viewers who dont play the game at all
Long story short. It is super inefficient. The other harrass options have higher chance of working and because u spend less, it is easier to transition out of, if not too much damage was achieved.
@@snowdrop9810 I kinda disagree. I don't need him to split atoms talking about game theory but a general weakness or mentioning how it could be countered would be nice. In this case Babyflubber said it in about 10 seconds and that's probably good enough. Would just help add some educational content to his entertainment videos.
Tempests are basically only useful as long-range bombardment against things you can't fight directly, like brood lords with support from spores and stuff like vipers, corruptors and infestors. Their damage per hit is high but they take so long to attack that their dps is completely atrocious for the cost and especially the supply - literally less than a zealot against non-massive targets. So it's a big investment into a unit that sucks in the vast majority of situations. The idea here is to harass with them, but a tempest costs 250/175 and a fleet beacon costs 150/150, and it still comes out slowly (the earlier you kill a worker, the more impactful it is). He doesn't kill nearly enough workers to make the investment in the tempest worthwhile - most of the time, a single oracle could have done as much or more for far less cost, and is probably more useful later in the game.
Thanks for the replies lads - you Harstem subs are a friendly bunch. I am just stoaked you didn't flame up a noob like any Dota 2 community would've.
proposal- putting a nexus in the middle of the map, or outside of opponents natural, use it with shield batteries, and defend the position in a macro game. keep trying to use it earlier and earlier as a defensive position for your units.
12:04 harstem is a minecraft villager
BGMWSS: Only AOE units. Make any early game units you need to survive but move to doing only splash damage as quickly as possible. Bonus points if you have every type of AOE damage in your army and you stack all of them into a AOE death zone that just obliterates a wide area of enemies. Unusual AOE harass is highly encouraged.
The Spike looks different when the Roaches have burrow? Or you mean the shadow from the burrow roaches on creep ?
No the graphics for the roaches change. They gain an extra pair of legs or something. Very subtle but definitely something you can see above ground if you know what to look for.
I made this suggestion previously. I wonder if he saw it or thought of it himself. Hmmm
i am sorry but i have to ask, is really needed to play in low settings on the ladder? it looks pretty bad after coming form GSL,winter, lowko, or casted games. i love watching you play as i learn a lot but it looks awful
Im not 100% sure about this but one of the reasons is spotting invisible units is easier with low settings
I propose a challenge where only tier 2 units are allowed. No zealots or adepts, no colossi or carriers, stalkers and sentries are up to you (they’re like 1.5 tier) but I would suggest avoiding stalkers for a better challenge
i was screaming when the 1. tempest got in ^^
imagine this.. a world where tempest openers become part of the meta, and people start rushing out +armor as their first upgrade so that their miners don't die to tempest 1-shots
And then people rush out +1 air weapons to make them one shot workers again
If it quacks like a duck...
I am more interested in adding in constant scouting to the strat, so u as well may be water
GAME IDEA:
How about you Have to build every unit in multiple's of 2. It would lead to a very interesting change in the amount and type of units you build for the early game
Challenge: Take your opponents natural or build an outpost in their base but not at the start, like a delayed cannon rush, using cannons like units.
i have a great idea, how about a video where you play Zoomed in and you play onehanded?
Mass archon strat!!!
maybe do a strategy similir to this, but also employ an early mothership
Good video. You cough like Gollum.
Challenge:
Only immortal, Zealot, Phoenix. If the enemy builds a mothership/broodlords/battlecruisers you can then make void rays
you can always proxy a nexus and recall the tempest to there
A classic indeed! LOL!
Proxy a Base at the side of you enemy, (to make it hard --> that is not alowed to die)
Only zealot + archon. Proxies early maybe? Late game add templars?
If you do this with terran... what about immobile attacks only, Nuke, tanks, auto turrets, libs?
Proposal for Beating Grandmaster with stupid stuff:
auxiliary troops
You can only produce 1 type of unit from each nexus location. for example, you can only make stalkers in the main, only oracles in the natural and DTs in the third.
The protoss are a culturally diverse race and different parts of the empire have different cultures and specialties.
how'd you stack the probes at 31:17
No gas units, only zealots, war prisms and cannons for base defence. Just shitloads ofnzoalots
Proposal for beating Grandmaaster with stupid stuff:
Enemy spies are too good.
Every probe that builds the first building (with exception of pylons) of its type (first gateway, first cyber etc) must be sent to opponents base and when it reaches an enemy, type what it built. All tech buildings must be built before you attack the enemy with your main force. Harass units are fine, but they can never return home or join the main army again.
Suggestion: brood war builds
I love Harstem
I think you should try a game with 1 hand where you are zoomed in
Proposal: How about an episode where you have to focus on taking bases - you are only allowed to go on the offensive aslong as you have every base on your half of the map. There has to be at least one probe mining in every base so you have to check all the bases before moving out with our army :D Or is that stupid?
15 observers into mass disruptor
zoomed in inc
I wonder if Zealots only could be played. basically Probes, Zealots and Cannons.
Not exactly the same but beastyqt did an awesome series with zealot phoenix only
@08:06 casual 1700 float

Challenge: Play any way you like. Your new goal is to get the opponent to ask if you are Harstem and/ or BGWSS. You can chat them up, but dont give anything away. gl hf gg
31:26 wtf why is he surrendering?! Couldn't he defend with Queens and transfusion or something? The next game in 5 minutes the Zerg has 3 queens ready to defend from a tempest!
