Hoping to clarify. Thanks for the upload by the way. However, repentance is NOT asking forgiveness. It is simply seeing yr errors or faults , stopping and then reforming, changing yr ways. Maybe its a translation issue? But in the Buddha's teaching we don't speak of "sins", we speak of the unwholesome or harmful thoughts, words & actions. I would highly recommend anyone reading this or drawn to this repentance verse to study the Shurangama Sutra for further clarification. Amitofo.

repentance is not forgiveness tho. repentance is SEEING clearly yr errors or faults , finding the leak you could say, and patching it up, reforming, vowing never to make those mistakes again. Repentance & reform is the path of the mahayana buddhist.

In Sanskrit,
kshamā = forgiveness
kshamāpańa = asking for forgiveness
paścāttāpa = repentance
repentance is not forgiveness tho. repentance is SEEING clearly yr errors or faults , finding the leak you could say, and patching it up, reforming, vowing never to make those mistakes again. Repentance & reform is the path of the mahayana buddhist.
