- Avalokiteshvaraya, the Bodhisattva of great compassion, is the most well-known of all the Bodhisattvas in the Buddhist tradition. In Plum Village, her name is invoked as a prayer, continuously repeated for twenty minutes, in order to awaken the energy of compassion in us all and transmit it to all living beings.
When the monastics chant the name Avalokiteshvaraya, for the first time, they go back to themselves to touch the suffering inside of them. And when they chant the name for the second time they become aware of the suffering of the people around them. And when they chant it for the third time, they get in touch with the suffering of the whole world, embracing it tenderly with the energy of compassion.
Contemplations before chanting
The Sangha is invited to come back to our breathing, so that our collective energy of mindfulness will bring us together as an organism, going as a river, with no more separation.
Let the whole Sangha breathe as one body, chant as one body, listen as one body and transcend the boundaries of a delusive self, liberating from the superiority complex, the inferiority complex, and the equality complex.

La Sangha est invitée à retourner à sa respiration; ainsi notre énergie collective de pleine conscience nous rassemblera en un organisme, coulant comme une rivière sans plus aucune séparation.

🙏Thay, you are everywhere with me. In my cup of tea, in the clouds whenever i look up, in a flower blooming, in a smile of a child, in my heart, and on every path that i step on. Thank you for your teachings.
I am a newcomer to Buddhism. The Buddha found me or I found him during a life crisis. I am grateful. By the grace of Heavens, I met with the presence of Avalokiteshvara. It had a profound impact on me, it helped me to accept things which I struggled to come to terms with. I perceived Avalokiteshvara as rain, flow, an emanation of Compassion and acceptance, almost like a soothing ointment that touched the heart. It is tender, comforting, and brings an insight that things are as they are meant to be. May all be well, happy, and peaceful.
To see the dignified presence of the irreplaceable Thich Nhat Hanh followed by this indescribably beautiful chant is touching beyond words.

Last month of today 10 June， was my dear father‘s last night in this world ！ Fortunately I was with him .Tonight I miss him so much, so I come to feel him and express my sadness and seek peace .
In the past I come here to feel Dear Thay whenever missing him.
Now I am here once again as I miss and think of both dear Thay and my father.
I see Buddha as I see dear Thay.
Tonight I see my father when I see dear Thay.

I stayed in a different city during high school, like 2 hours from my home. On one of the holiday, I wanted to come home by bus. In the boarding house where I stayed, there was an altar of Avalokitesvara. I prayed before going. My friend even asked me why, I usually didn't do that. I had a bad feeling, my heart beat in fear. And that day, I had a bus accident. My friend broke her shoulder, and most of the passangers had been injured. Miraculously, I came out just fine. I had a speck of broken window glass on my palm, but it didn't bleed. I guess I was protected. Thank You ❤

Quelques années auparavant je chantais tous les jours avec joie, quand je conduisais, le Mantra Om Mani Padmé Hum et le Soutra du Cœur du Bodisattva Avalokiteshvara.
Un jour, vers minuit, en rentrant chez moi en voiture, sous une pluie battante, sur l'autoroute une voiture qui m'a dépassé sur un virage, a perdu le contrôle, a glissé et s'est arrêtée à 50 m devant, juste sur ma file !!!
Je me suis déporté sur la file de gauche pour l'éviter et la voiture avançait sur la même file que je suis entrain d arriver...!!!!
Paniqué, je me suis dit que le choqué était inévitable...!!!
Puis subitement, en une fraction de seconde, la voiture a reculé d'un seul traite et en douceur, jusqu'à la BAU sans se cogner dessus !!!
Comment cela était ce possible ?!!!
En marche arrière, sans visibilité, dans une autoroute toute sombre, sous une plus battante...?!!!
C'est seulement une fois que mon esprit s'est apaisé que j'ai compris que c'est le Bodisattva Avalokiteshvara, Kwan Yin Pusa, qui m'a sauvé !
C'était un miracle !

I played this chant to my beloved sister days before she passed away from cancer 5 months ago. Now every time I hear this I instantly start to cry but I also feel joy that she passed away at home, surrounded with people who love her and in peace whit this chant and other music that helped her to calm. Thank you so much to teacher Thay and the whole Plum village community for everything you do.🙏
Thank you for your sharing. Hope you and your family are doing well. I believe that your sister's spirit is always with you. I feel some grief at times about Thay's body changing, my grandparents' transitioning, and loved ones' transitioning, incl lovely cat and dogs. The truth is that Thay's and all spirits have never left. We are all connected, coming from the same source of consciousness. I find the teachings of Thay, Plum Village, Deepak Chopra, Rupert Spira very helpful. Neale Donald Walsh's YT video on death is helpful. Sending love and hugs! :)

Namo Averlokitesvara. In chinese we chant namo Kwan Tsi Yin pusat. 'Pusat' means Bodhisattva.
Averlokitesvara Buddha had ever saved me from a deadly fall, when I was around 5 yrs old. I was standing on a tall wooden stool, clesning the altar. I lost balsnce and was falling backwards. A soft power held me and gently steadied my footing. Though young but immediately I knew that was Buddha Averlokitesvara ( also known as Kwan Yin Bodhisatta to me) had saved me.
A miraculous happening so unforgettable.

this happened to me when my daughter was 5 - 2 cars had crashed and mounted the pavement. A soft power let me put my daughter quickly over a wall into an adjoining garden, and I was able to jump on the bonnet of one of the cars. Thank you so much for showin'g us this chant, which I didn't know then.

The Buddhist monks come to Unity Spiritual Center of Phx annually and I have the opportunity to share lunch with them, it’s such a blessing to learn from them that we all came from the same Source, Namaste 🙏

Ahhhhh How Blissful!! Religion has divided us for centuries, and yet there are religions that practice PEACE, KINDNESS & LOVE - PURE GOODNESS & GOD - such as this. As a Non Buddhist, Hindu, Christian or Muslim - I ask: Shouldn't PEACE be what religion is all about? With all due respect to religious Christians & Muslims, could learn from this kind of peace. Instead of mocking or humoring it, EMBRACE IT! You won't be converted, you'll simply be transformed into a better being. Those who do, Ushta-te, PEACE!!

A few years ago I sang with joy every day, when I was driving, the Mantra Om Mani Padmé Hum and the Heart Sutra of the Bodisattva Avalokiteshvara. One day, around midnight, when I got home by car, in the pouring rain, on the highway a car which overtook me on a bend, lost control, slipped and stopped 50m ahead, right on my line !!! I moved to the left lane to avoid it and the car was advancing in the same lane that I am about to arrive ... !!!! Panicked, I told myself that the shock was inevitable ... !!! Then suddenly, in a fraction of a second, the car backed up in one go and smoothly, to the BAU without bumping into it !!! How was that possible? !!! In reverse, without visibility, in a dark highway, under a more swinging ...? !!! It was only after my mind calmed down that I realized that it was the Bodisattva Avalokiteshvara, Kwan Yin Pusa, who saved me! It was a miracle! Thank you Kwan Yin Pusa! 🙏🙏🙏💐🌸💮🌹
If you realize deeply, is not just "the music" that brings such a peaceful and joyful feelings. But the peaceful presence of the monks and master Thich Nhat Hanh 🙏🏻

I find this beautiful chant so comforting and I use it to calm myself in times of fear, and when I fall into overwhelming sadness. It takes me home to who I truly am. It helps me not feel so alone in these tough times. Thank you and deep blessings. 🙏💚🌈
With this chant I understood that compassion is a feeling needed to be practiced in ourselves to be well practiced in others. Embrace the fear to be lonely in order of stop blaming other for letting me alone. Hope peace, joy and love remains in us.

If some didn't know.. Religion by division separates us. It is ONE-ness that unites us. That is called LOVE. When you stop reading newspapers and history books of war among nations.. May ONE day all hearts SEE the TRUTH here on Gaia.
So, to say that Religion goes well with that Religion is not the greatest campaign of true compassion that the sole creator wants ONE to KNOW. The Universe desires us all to LOVE all creations inside and outside of ourselves. ONE should walk out of their house start acknowledging and talking to their neighbors, their fellow strangers, plants of green and animals of mother earth's land. We've forgotten how to LOVE blindly every second instead of discriminating others due to modern society's conditioning of fear.
I pray for the day that only such LOVE from all ascended masters (Examples: Buddha and Jesus) who has come before on our earthly plane in existence teaching ways of loving one another come again.. Soon to restore faith and equilibrium on our human 3D realm. All worshippers of love and light are what is needed. Basic decency. Good. Something many have learned to eliminate in their spiritual DNA. Bless us all. Amen. 🙏🕊🌬✨💖

I'm from Cambodia. Actually I was born from Theravada Buddhism. But I really love the way the Mahayana Buddhism teaches us. I love and practice the all sects of Buddhism. All kinds of Buddhism deal with human lives, especially to leach people to get rid of suffering and attain Nirvana.
I met Thich Nhat Hanh many years ago and his Presence and Love was breathtaking.
