I have recited and held this mantra 5 times per night with all my compassion, sincere in front of Avalokiteshvara and then I pray for all people, all animals, all objects in the universe... First of all, I found that my thinking & feeling were changing one by one... I started to feel the inner peace... then There were things in life that I tried my best to change but useless! useless!... was changing too, I was very surprising! And then Those are my family, my friends and my job one by one... I hope that everyone can know, recite and hold this mantra for peace of all people, animals, objects in the universe! I bought the album last month while holidaying in Hong Kong. We went to see the big buddah and popped into one of the shops when heading towards to see the buddah. We were told by the shop assistant that the album is very popular hence we bought it and I can see why. Its beautiful. I play it over n over n over again and it never gets old. Soothes the mind and the heart. Peaceful, tranquil and divine. Stressful day? put this on and it simply puts you in a peaceful state of mind. What more can I say? its beautiful.

That's the Dharani in Sanskrit. The 'bhyah' parts are somehow pronounced as 'beh' as how the Tibetans do it.
The Great Compassion Dharani, sourced from Mahakarunicitta Dharani Sutra or ong title: 'The Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's Vast, Perfect, Unimpeded, Great-Compassionate Heart Dharani Sutra' by Sramana Bhagavat-Dharma, Tang China, ref: Taisho Tripitaka T20, #1060. There are 9 versions of this Dharani & Nilakantha Dharani by Acarya Vajrabodhi is made famous by the same artist as the video. Acarya Amoghavajra's is another popular one used in the Chinese tradition.
as for great compassionate mantra said to help one obtain 15 good birth and not suffer 15 bad death: 15 bad deaths: 1. they will not die of starvation or poverty. 2. not die from beeen yoked, imprisoned, caned or otherwise beaten. 3. not die at the hand of hostile enemies 4. not kill in milatry battles 5. not kill by tiger, wolves or other fierce beast. 6. not die from venom of poisonous snakes, black serpents or scorpions. 7. not drown or burned to death. 8. not poisoned to death. 9. not kill by mediumistic insects. 10. not die of madness or insanity. 11. not kill by landslides or falling trees. 12. not die of nightmare send by evil people. 13. not kill by deviant spirits or evil ghosts. 14. not die of evil illness that bind the body. 15 they will not commit suicide. (probably due to black magic) 15 good birth: 1. their place of birth will always have a good king. 2. they will always be born in a good country. 3. they will always be born at a good time. 4. always meet virtuous friends. 5. the organs of their body will always be complete. 6. their heart of way will be pure and nature. 7. they will not violate the prohibitive precepts. 8. all their relatives will be kind and harmonius. 9. they will always have the neccessary wealth and good in abundance. 10. they will always obtain the respect and help of others. 11. their possession will not be plunder. 12. they will obtain everything they seek. 13. dragon, gods and good spirits will always protect them. 14. in the place where there are born, they will see the buddha and hear the dharma. 15. they will awaken to the profound meaning of that proper dharma which they hear. as for me, i do treat both of these mantras as separately (so as not to miss out either one in case both mantra is for different purpose).
This is very nice Sanskrit version and tempo is slower as compared to another version ( with lyrics). Can the publisher please edit and provide with lyrics so that we can follow to sing along. Many thanks.
You do never translate Sanskrit Darhani and Mantra such as this Avalokite Svara Mantra into your language. The reason is that the meaning of this Darhani will be broken by the translation. For example, Namo Ratna Triya Namo Avalokite Svaraya Bodhi Sattva, Maha kalonikkaya is meaning; I pray to Trinity, Avalokite Svara who is the Bodhi sattva, the greatest Kalonikkaya. It has already broken the real meaning of this translation beacause english is limited and not have any words to express various meaning of Sanskrit words. If I translate "Namo..." extremely close to the origin meaning of that in sanskrit, it would be... With my heart sincerely, I pray to the most precious Trinity, the gracious and merciful and the god who is willing to be praised by my true heart, ... Still not enough to mean the one word "Namo" into English translation...

Do you have the artist's album? I do. Even the artist has the album entitled, 'Arya Ekadasa Mukha Dharani', Code IMM1021 2006. That's how I know the lyrics are in Sanskrit and not Nepalese nor Tibetan. I go by what is found in the Sutras and not what recording companies put on their labels. The Great Compassion part is the nature of the Bodhisattva & its practice but this Dharani's purpose has other functions. It pays to have an informed opinion before posting on others' comments...

hi. i'm interested to know what does this 11 face avalokiteshvara dharani function has. all i manage to find is all the sutra label 11 face avalokiteshvara dharani and nilakantha dharani is the same function. but i do believe each word sang bring different blessing.

The Great Compassion Dharani, sourced from Mahakarunicitta Dharani Sutra or ong title: 'The Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's Vast, Perfect, Unimpeded, Great-Compassionate Heart Dharani Sutra' by Sramana Bhagavat-Dharma, Tang China, ref: Taisho Tripitaka T20, #1060. There are 9 versions of this Dharani & Nilakantha Dharani by Acarya Vajrabodhi is made famous by the same artist as the video. Acarya Amoghavajra's is another popular one used in the Chinese tradition.

as for great compassionate mantra said to help one obtain 15 good birth and not suffer 15 bad death:
15 bad deaths:
1. they will not die of starvation or poverty.
2. not die from beeen yoked, imprisoned, caned or otherwise beaten.
3. not die at the hand of hostile enemies
4. not kill in milatry battles
5. not kill by tiger, wolves or other fierce beast.
6. not die from venom of poisonous snakes, black serpents or scorpions.
7. not drown or burned to death.
8. not poisoned to death.
9. not kill by mediumistic insects.
10. not die of madness or insanity.
11. not kill by landslides or falling trees.
12. not die of nightmare send by evil people.
13. not kill by deviant spirits or evil ghosts.
14. not die of evil illness that bind the body.
15 they will not commit suicide. (probably due to black magic)
15 good birth:
1. their place of birth will always have a good king.
2. they will always be born in a good country.
3. they will always be born at a good time.
4. always meet virtuous friends.
5. the organs of their body will always be complete.
6. their heart of way will be pure and nature.
7. they will not violate the prohibitive precepts.
8. all their relatives will be kind and harmonius.
9. they will always have the neccessary wealth and good in abundance.
10. they will always obtain the respect and help of others.
11. their possession will not be plunder.
12. they will obtain everything they seek.
13. dragon, gods and good spirits will always protect them.
14. in the place where there are born, they will see the buddha and hear the dharma.
15. they will awaken to the profound meaning of that proper dharma which they hear.
as for me, i do treat both of these mantras as separately (so as not to miss out either one in case both mantra is for different purpose).

You do never translate Sanskrit Darhani and Mantra such as this Avalokite Svara Mantra into your language. The reason is that the meaning of this Darhani will be broken by the translation. For example, Namo Ratna Triya Namo Avalokite Svaraya Bodhi Sattva, Maha kalonikkaya is meaning; I pray to Trinity, Avalokite Svara who is the Bodhi sattva, the greatest Kalonikkaya. It has already broken the real meaning of this translation beacause english is limited and not have any words to express various meaning of Sanskrit words.
If I translate "Namo..." extremely close to the origin meaning of that in sanskrit, it would be...

Still not enough to mean the one word "Namo" into English translation...

Do you have the artist's album? I do. Even the artist has the album entitled, 'Arya Ekadasa Mukha Dharani', Code IMM1021 2006. That's how I know the lyrics are in Sanskrit and not Nepalese nor Tibetan. I go by what is found in the Sutras and not what recording companies put on their labels. The Great Compassion part is the nature of the Bodhisattva & its practice but this Dharani's purpose has other functions. It pays to have an informed opinion before posting on others' comments...

hi. i'm interested to know what does this 11 face avalokiteshvara dharani function has. all i manage to find is all the sutra label 11 face avalokiteshvara dharani and nilakantha dharani is the same function. but i do believe each word sang bring different blessing.
