From the beginning of our knowledge of this game, I thought it looked limited, boring, and unimaginative. But, as we learned more about it, I started to love it. It looks so interesting, and there's so much to do with it. It's so odd for a fighting game, but it looks fantastic.

TupperwareCares yeah, I thought the same. Also, and I know this is easy to say, but it looks like you'd enjoy it more by actually playing it; you can't appreciate how engaging it is by watching a video like this, it's constant moving, constant action.
I can't wait for it to come out so Nintendo will focus their marketing on something else. This game looks boring and I'm ready for everyone to forget about it in a few months.

Nintendo really needs to work on the ARMS lore, because each character is bursting with personality and style, but little to no story

i love the character designs so much with this game. the team spared no expense in their creativity.
the fighting style is like punch out online with aerial smash bros controls but in a 3rd person lock perspective.
i just plain love nintendo's creative teams. great work ARMS team!

@@BeeLy1011 I don't watch TV. I'm an adult college student who plays very few video games. Only got a switch when I heard about the new smash game because I remember playing smash 64 and Melee growing up and wanted to play again and see how the game has evolved. It's surprising I didn't hear about it but actually not surprising when you look at my life. Lol.

Do people actually still think that they'll announce Smash for Switch? At this point? They're not going to announce something as big as Super Smash Bros during a Nintendo Treehouse, that's for sure.
MehSplosion who said that it would be anytime soon? It can be 5 years, but it will most likely happen eventually. If anything, we might just get a port with added content, but even that would happen sometime in the future.
wasnt impressed with this game during the very first showcase but looking over it now there are so things that have been added too it! it looks awesome and only seems to be getting better

Ok, I already have a headcannon for the entire "ARMS" concept..... It might not be appropriate for the game's lore, but at least I tried:
Ok, so ARMS takes place in a utopia called Generax, which is a world specifically built for the successors of successful fighters, and genetically "advanced" individuals who accepted to agree to the obligatory "Trust Contract" that implies that they have to go through numerous experimentations, genetic mutations and procedures to be "pure" enough to access Generax properly.
For that reason, almost all of the citizens are either upgraded in a way, with expandable arms, a change in skin color (which is highly irregular), or downgraded, with a decrease in bone structure or weakness further from the ribs (depending on the strength capacity your human form had). The government behind the development of Generax called "The G.F. A." (Generator's Futuristic Association) are the ones that created "The Generactor" which is an otherwordly machine found in the depths of the Amazonas (supposedly brought in by aliens) decomposed hundreds of years ago, but recreated by them. This "Generactor" is responsible for all the mutations in the human body, and the semi-permanent cleaning that all citizens possess for a lifetime of 10 years. Now, there are the "Armers", which are the fighters shown in-game.
Why? Because there is an uncommon mutation in the human body called the A-2 Disorder, which consists of the disintegration of the human's arms in exchange for an increase in muscle power in the rest of the body. This happened to the contestants in arms, and therefore, led them to purchase special arm extensions that only fighters on the "Armer Arts Championship" can get upon joining. For that reason, these characters are here, fighting to death in exchange for the ability that they lack off-screen: to work with actual arms.
Meanwhile, those that live in Generax are required to go through a "re-cleansing process" every 10 years, as the government is attempting to make Generax the CLEANEST and purest place on Earth; a dystopian future for fortunate humans, basically.
So there, that's my take on the background lore for ARMS. Sure, this might not be the best piece of lore, but I can guarantee that it could work somehow. Of course, that's not what's gonna happen, is it? :T

Woomy 06 WELP..... like I said, I was just like: "Hey, since there's no storyline to this, LETS MAKE ONE! :D" so technically this isn't something like a theory, it's just a headcannon.
Also, there could be exceptions to the A-2 Syndrome, much like how only few people have red hair in certain circumstances as opposed to the other family members. Thus, the headcannon still stands with exception of them.
