- Part 2 of my disappointing observations series. This is a compilation of the many disappointing observations we've encountered over time. Because each of these things failed or required too many hacks to work, I didn't consider any of them worthy of a video. But since they accumulated, I decided to combine them all into one video.

The JRB ship is just the weirdest object in the game imo
I know! Back when I was a kid, and I first tried to C^ on the ship and realized I couldn't gain speed, I was dumbstruck.
There isn't a single useful HSP spot either, since the geometry rotates in and out of the water.
Nintendo, why no ship speed? Must the player be locked in place, bobbing forever just as the ship is? Is this a metaphor for life, or just a cruel joke? You disappoint me.

That box that slides around on the ship is funky. The way that Mario can get squished by it if you move just right still confuses me.
There's apparently a duplicate of it floating above JRB if you use Toad's Tool to view JRB, if I recall correctly.
To note that it's also bigger on the inside.
It's weird. This ship is cursed. The entire bay is cursed.
Seeing that many impossible 0x strats at once leads me to a bold hypothesis:
The game could be designed around frequent usage of the *A* button.
Maybe Mario is secretly Jumpman.

All of this is literally nothing compared to the Remote Interaction Glitch, which Super Mario 64 DS ABC has to frequently use. That glitch takes about a MILLENNIUM to execute.

To summarize the video segment I'm linking: The Remote Interaction Glitch works by giving an object the same ID as another object, which tricks the game into thinking that Yoshi's eating the original object instead of the newly spawned one no matter how far Yoshi is from the original object. However, to get two objects with the same ID, you need to spawn ~4,294,967,000 objects to overflow the counter that gives new objects their ID. Doing that takes about a millennium.
Fortunately, taking a millennium is only the worst case. You can save a few centuries if you find a way to spawn more than one item at once, as the first linked video did. But there are legitimate cases where using RIG will take more than a millennium: ua-cam.com/video/qEEiSuJdRmg/v-deo.html

We can only hope exploits and bugs are found, but for a couple of these A-presses it's highly unlikely since there would need to be a MAJOR glitch found :/

Of all the single-frame exploits, you'd think talking to someone while taking fatal fall damage would be possible, but of course that's the one thing that doesn't work.
Also, I forgot about the prequel to this video and got a good chuckle when I saw the title in my subscriptions.

I found him through the meme but stayed for the content. Many other people also did that. That's why being a meme has benefited him in the long run. And the meme was born out of admiration, not derision.

A press save idea/ question:
I was watching some of your old videos and noticed that at 8:12 in "BitFS 0x Ideas" the platform lowers beyond the wooden hexagons. In the remote lava boost video you said if you could find a Pedro spot you could beat the pole 0x but could not find one on the edge of the platform because the distance between ceiling and floor is never more than 1 unit. Is it possible to find a Pedro spot between the platform and the hexagon? It looks like you can get far past the minimum of two units distance.

A disappointing observation is SimpleFlips not doing the IRL BLJ.
It's actually not. Performing a BLJ requires a lot of A presses, so it would be pretty disappointing to see a great guy like him being so disrespectful to ABC by pressing A so many times in a row.
BLJ's don't need A Presses in real life, you gay baby.

It's impossible to perform hat in hand in LLL, because the only wing cap block doesn't have any walls nearby to stop the cap before it moves too far away.
Do we know if entering the volcano resets it though? Because that seems like it might be plausible to work around

While it is indeed a shame that the 2^30-1 counter doesn't cause the cannon to fire I'm not sure it would be practical anyway. Assuming it starts at 0 and increments by 1, once per frame, and the game runs at 30 frames per second doesn't that mean it would have taken just over 68 years?
Edit: as pointed out in the replies I forgot to devide by 60 minutes in an hour. It's actually 414 days.

Where did you get 68 *years*? (2^30)-1 frames/30 frames per second/60 seconds per minute/60 minutes per hour/24 hours per day = 414.25 days, or just under a year and two months.
68 years is about 2^31 seconds, probably must have confused it with the year 2038 problem.
You think that's high? SM64DS BBC takes 1368 years, and that's just for one star. There are others that take from 100 to 1000

I find it very funny just how outdated this video is. There are still some A presses here we've never saved like Shifting Sand Land and Winged Mario Over the Rainbow, but seeing a video where Cool Cool Mountain and Lethal Lava Land most recently needed an A press saved and we didn't know how to do it shows just how far we've come. Well, how far the ABC team has come. I've done jack shit.

Ah, my daily dose of disappointment, lovely. Nice collection, even though they don't get us anywhere. It would have been funny if the cannons shot at that insanely large number.
