In Turkey, most of them came with d16a9 dohc engine without a cat, they say it makes around 136hp, but its 142 engine hp on dyno. I love mine its still a fast car for today standards, 0-62mph in low 7s is still fine.
When I graduated high school, I got a yellow 88 CRX SI. I wanted to get rid of my mint 85 Monte Carlo SS, since I thought it would get stolen at college. It was a huge change going from a 5.0 to a 1.6l engine. I'm proud to say that I drove the CRX every day like I stole it. It could go about 120 mph on the highway, but it took a while to get up to speed. Had two 10" MTX subs in a bandpass box, and had the ports firing at the back hatch. The bass would hit you in the back of the head. You could fit 4 - 5 people in the car, but that wears out the clutch fast. The car was crazy light. Wish I had money and time, back then, to put wider wheels and coilovers on it. Unfortunately, I took a turn too fast, the car lost grip, and I slammed into a curb and ripped the front passenger wheel off. Luckily, I was able to drive it into a parking lot, while dragging the passenger tire. For the balance of the summer, I had to rollerblade to work, while the car was getting fixed. The yellow color and bumping bass was always a cop magnet (lived in a beach town). The car ended up getting broken into at college. They used a crowbar, to rip off the drivers door handle. Unfortunately, I wrecked the car for a second time in a bad lake effect snow storm. I had a brand new set of Yokohama tires, and tried to pass the car in front of me that was going 10 MPH. The other lane had a foot of snow, and I ended up hitting a large sign pole. That was the end of my beloved CRX SI. Was it the yellow curse, or my dumb young luck? My wife has a pristine 07 Civic SI, but that car doesn't compare to the CRX. Two different animals. Good times!
Very nice video! I’ll never get tired seeing more videos about my beloved CRX! One question though: how was a glass roof derived from engine development??? “All glass roof from Hondas VTEC technology”???
As the owner of two 1st gen CRXs an 85 DX with 75k original miles and an 86 SI with a K24a2 I am bias that the CRX is the best car Honda ever made! Del Sol was never a CRX, despite early badge attempts to make it one and the CRZ just fell short of the 1st and 2nd gen styling. Great video!
Nirvana's signed with Subpop records in 1989. Should've gone for The Police or Michael Jackson. 🙂 I remember when these hit the lots in my town. I was intrigued because it was a sporty new car priced really well. I wanted one, but it was just out of reach for a teenager's burger flippin' paycheck... just barely.
Lots of mixed up pictures, & early Prelude surprisingly pertinent since it was also based upon its contemporary Civic before the smaller CR-X was conceived. Both DOHC & DOHC VTEC engines introduced at mid-life updates with Integra justifying the engine development & making them more expensive & rarer than N.American CRX. Late CRX competed with Miata showing logic of Del-sol -CRX in Japan. VTEC inspired? Glass-roof was offered before Vtec with D15 engines.
I still have my 88 Si and never selling it.......
Same
Kings
Hold on to that Gem
@@captivecombustion my goal is to get myself a gem of my own 🫶🏼
Nice
In Europe and Japan crx came with ZC engine and made about 130hp it was very fast back in time
I remember that was a popular swap this side of the water!

The uk mk2 came with a 1.6 vtec and the d16a9
@@kaan5249 I had a d16a9 with a light tune. Definitely more torque than the B16. Enjoy your CRX, I sold mine years ago😢
@@cameronhall6733regret it ?😢

Sounds like a blast!
Uhhhhmmmm, Nirvana didn't hit the Mainstream Airwaves Until 1991. they had limited exposure on college Radio before that.
You are correct. We were talking about an era not exactly 1984. We will try and make newer videos more clear.
Very nice video! I’ll never get tired seeing more videos about my beloved CRX!

Sounds like we need to do some editing!
I had the 1984 model - my first car. It was such fun!
I rolled my 84 :( loved that car.
@@captivecombustion I hit a tree after spinning off the road... it was a write off :(

Super cool! Thanks for watching. Nothing even comes close to feeling of a crx. All these new cars don’t even compare.
3:14 COOL DIGITAL DASH!

I currently own a 91 dx, the interior is gutted and needs a lot of work but I don’t think I’m ganna get rid of it
Don’t! Keep working on it. Make a channel about it and post it here. We will follow and watch!

We’ll try and get our accuracy down better as we grow. It’s hours of scouring.
Thanks for making this I think it was this car (CRX EF) that lent its suspension to the EJ1 Civic thank you last gen CRX🔰🏎️
Thanks for watching. I appreciate you!
I regret selling mine but although it would probably be a rust bucket right about now
Yah they def rust apart. Maybe time to find another one?!
i have a crx as53 Zc1 in 1996 it was a demon, now i still have a crx vtec EE8 it was very good but not a demon
The yellow curse (Y-49 curse)
I’m currently cursed with 3 of them 😂
5:30 not exactly what I pictured when thinking of Honda.
Just a heads up…DX was never a version of the 2nd generation CRX’s.
Hf dx si.
@@captivecombustion no DX on the 2nd generation CRX’s. There was HF, a base model & Si.
@@crxk20r59 correct. Base was badgeless
@@captivecombustion yup, no DX emblems, stickers, etc. anywhere on the car or on the paperwork. 👍
A shame they can not build a car like that anymore because of climate crazy's and safety rules...
