For the sake of humanity, please never quit making these types of videos a few times a year. The tremendous effort you put into editing and production blows all other channels out of the water. Keep up the good work!
This was chicken soup for the soul, an enthusiast time-machine. It brought back this nostalgic feeling of driving in the 90's, and when things were simpler. Thank you Mark, Jack and the whole team at Savagegeese - know that all your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for continuing to pursue this creative outlet, for ~18mins today, I got to relive the golden age.
I agree completely. Wonderful video, guys. You are the best when it comes to the technical side of car analyses. We owned an '88 CRX and it was a GREAT car! Wish they still made them today--had to settle for a Cayman instead...
I learned manual on a '89 CRX and '91 civic... fun little cars with lawnmower engines that weighed nothing. Rode like shit but they were a blast to throw around.
It was the first "fast" car i was ever in as a kid. My uncle had a B20V swapped CRX Si. Made 172whp and that was SUPER FAST in a car that weighed 2,050 lbs.
91 CRX si was my first car, i would find excuse to drive it because it's that fun to drive. you just feel one with the road and you can see everything. unfortunately, an SUV backed up and drove over my car at a stop light. i was devastated.
Hit it right on the head. CRX was my taproot car, and I still have one sitting in my garage so that I could share that pure, visceral experience with my kids. Thank you for looking both forwards and backwards in our automotive landscape. Drive on…
My brother in law owned a CRX in the early 90’s. He raced it in SCCA and loved it. Sold it when he started a family. He won’t admit but he cried a little after watching this.
Mark is a legend on Reddit. Always get lots of thumb ups whenever I post remarks and reviews he makes. Got damn it, the Savagegeese listens to his audience! I will say this again, the quality he makes, the work he puts into his reviews are far better than all the major corporate car reviewers. Being short, bald, and having comedic sense is cool again. It's beyond cool it's the Savagegeese. I want retro and he's delivered.
The CRX was one of my grail cars in high school and college. Missed out on it, but managed to recapture some of the vibe with an NA Miata and my current CRZ. As always, appreciate the perspectives and stunning visuals you bring us. Your channel is a streaming museum, past and present!
I lived next to a honda dealer in the nineties and drooled on those every time i walked by to and from school. Now, I’m the lucky owner of an S2000 since 14 years 😊
Porsche Boxster 986 99 RWD mid engine puts the same smile on your face from driving! It was the first of its kind being water cooled and the last of its kind being a true 2Dr coupe w the mid engine design(brings back the feeling of a go cart but for adults)with high revving lively motor 2.5 liter 6cylinder with enough torque to move the coupe with endless power and perfect balance + handling all while making the driver feel super connected to the car and connected to the track/road. It’s a car that creates experiences and memories that live for ever. Not many cars do that do this day so shout out to all the 90’s cars that truly brought innovation and timeless driving experiences through their unique ingenuity and impeccable engineering and craftsmanship ⚙️👍 (Less computers/more RAW fun!)
You guys are totally in a league of your own when you make these special videos focusing on a retro car or a particular brand. There is nothing else on UA-cam that communicates the passion behind these cars quite like this.
I remember a friend in HS had this, and we were just getting into cars. We stripped it out, cut off the exhaust, and thought we were the coolest kids on the planet. Looking back, I hate myself HA, but the CRX was such an important car to me growing up. Modifying it, going to car meets, getting in trouble, making memories, etc, all a big part of me growing up.
As someone looking to relive the driving experience of cars like CR-X SiR someday, it’s hard not to donate to content like this. Appreciate all the efforts behind it.
I've said it before on here, I'll say it again; why this channel doesn't have 1M+ subscribers is beyond me! The cinematography alone, (NEVERMIND the FANTASTIC AUDIO production!) is worth it. This is a dream car of mine since I was 10 years old, thanks, Gran Turismo! To EXPERIENCE a tribute to this gem of a car warms the cockles of my soul. So.....Thank you. Now I need to find your Patreon since you DiDn'T LiNk iT!!!
The focus for a creator should never be subscribers. Not sure why anyone would even mention that. Focus on quality and don’t be a bean counter and worry about numbers
Some of my most cherished memories are of carving up the canyon roads of Colorado in my 89 CRX Si. That car was the only 4 wheeled vehicle that compared to my other favorite Honda, a VFR750R. Both were amazing machines engineered to put grins on driver's faces above all.
Loved that closing sentence! Always loved CRX's as I raced with them back in the day at Blackhawk in my 1st gen RX7 ITA car and then my NA Spec Miata. Thanks and happy New Year! PS - how much emotion from this CRX is captured by your new type r?
This video is perfection. I have been driving Hondas since just before I graduated college in 1990. I started driving Hondas because they were safe, dependable, FUN TO DRIVE, and financially accessible. Even the base 1991 Civic 4-speed coupe I drove through medical school, for which the passenger side door mirror was optional, was fun to drive. And the CRX SiR and NSX were dreams to me back then. Now I own a NSX and dream about owning at least a CRX Si. Thank you for a reminder of what Honda’s Golden Era was about.
Guys, this video gave me chills. I used to race a CRX in the Firestone Firehawk Endurance Championship back in 1991 / 92. You nailed this review and brought back so many memories from 30 years ago. Thank you! and Happy New Year. Keep up the great work!
What a blast of nostalgia, feels like a completely different world. It's hard to imagine now that there was a time where economy brand cars made practical, economical cars that were more fun to drive and just as fast as sports cars that were twice their price.
Owned a CRX Si for many years back in the 90s. Was absolutely the most fun car I ever owned. This brought back so many memories of pushing the car to its limits and smiling the whole time.
Another masterpiece. The CRX Si was the gateway drug to a ‘97 ITR for me. Scott Zellner sold parts to me along the way. Your coverage and understanding of the Golden Era of Honda is unmatched. I share these videos with my son, as they substantiate all the lore I’ve passed on to him in ways nothing else can. Thank you.
I also had a Jap import CRX SiR followed by a 97 ITR!! Those were the days. I never knew what had been done to the crx back in Japan, but it was stupid fast - when I got the Integra I realised it must have been something special because it wasn't quite as quick, I was gutted.
5 years ago I used to follow every single UA-cam car channel out there. Remember drive?! Today I only follow hour's. Everything else has become landscape. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you, and I would love to meet you person one day. Thanks for all the hard work you put on these. Your channel deserves far more recognition...
@@savagegeese i wonder if gordon murray is planning on making his own electric cars, hes doing contract work for now. id think he would do so, in light of gma t43 plan, maybe hed make a handling sporty version of 2023 prius sort of car for cheap cost of lviing and balance between combustion and battery, the every mans every day car, where pedals that push back to discourage over powering and over braking, steerind and chassis and seats that communicate how near grip limit car is, maybe a little gforce meter that shows up when near grip limit, light weight high speed momentum preserving geometries ,... all would help maximize longveity of fuels, tires, brakes, battery, and make car crash safe for people inside and outside car, by lightweighting and energy absorption and making driver pay attention to driving enviroment by making hypermiling perfection fun.
This nostalgic and thoughtful film is more personal as I marshalled at SCCA events when Jason Saini was racing Hondas for King. Great trackside memories.
It's great to see Scott in this video. I'm glad to see that he was able to pick up this little gem. I used to work for H&R, and in an industry that is full of questionable and unsavory characters, Scott is one of the most professional, yet down to earth guys you will meet. I'm glad to see that King Motorsports is still thriving.
As an 80's and 90's kid I loved these cars. I was fortunate enough to occasionally drive my buddies Mitsubishi GT 3000 VR4 and then I fell down the rabbit hole of JDM. Much love for the passion projects! I love when you make a video like this, it kinda seems like a mini documentary. w00t!
I love my 95 VR4. It’s not nearly as light and engaging as the Hondas and other sports cars of the era but the GT car weight and refinement make it less stressful for occasional commutes to work and road trips without the fear I’d be totally obliterated by a Tahoe that forgot to look when changing lanes.
Just like mark said it’s the era we grew up in the 90s we’re special for cars all the way from American to Japanese even german but it’s why I’m a huge jdm fan my dad has so many Hondas after being a muscle car era guy into his last 92 fox body mustang but since the 80s just Hondas
I owned an early model CRX HF followed by a CRX Si back in the 1980’s. They were both fantastic cars - the HF got 50+ mpg, up to the low 60’s on long highway trips. An interesting thing about the HF was that the wheels were made from magnesium - so true “mag” wheels. It wasn’t exactly fast, but in the ‘80’s very few cars were, and this thing was just so efficient. They both were exceptionally comfortable offering so much leg room I could actually get the seat back far enough that I was stretching to push the clutch in and I’m no small guy (6’ 2”). I remember one summer trip when I took the Si up to Canada and then ran it back through the UP of Michigan comfortably cruising at 100mph. It’s one of the vehicles I wish I had kept in storage for posterity sake.
The rush of nostalgia was a smack in the face. I had CRX si for a short time and I miss that car dearly. The experience and joy of driving was unmatched. You have a cinematic gift which we all love watching! Never stop.
Same, one of my favorite cars I ever owned was a '90 CRX with a B16 and I changed out the trailing arm and front lower suspension arm bushings for Mugen units, what a response machine! Too bad the car just rusted out and I ended up with a DC2 next.
@KeitheR81 He starts the video by saying this car was fun, light etc etc and mentions affordable and attainable……🙂 I remember these very well when I was a teen and began driving in 91 in South Africa . These were definitely not affordable to the average South African as Honda was pitched at the high end of the Japanese market in SA. Honda was sold through Mercedes Benz SA and they had price tags to match the premium Merc brand ….by that I mean much higher than Toyota, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan, whom they were competing with. Honda specs in SA were premium so I guess you were paying for what you got. I never did get to own a CRX but I did manage get myself a Honda Ballade 160i Luxline 94 model which was a lovely car.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have an old 1990 crx si. I dream of building a b20 vtec and installing it as a perfect daily driver and get all the eccessories working again such as air conditioning and make the sunroof work again. That being said after fighting like hell to save and find and work hard a couple winters ago to install a replacement d16a6. It now runs and drives again. I just got home from a trip to home depot and it's the most fun car hands down I have ever owned. to make this car even more special it was my first car I owned since 16 years old Now 32. My uncle who died of cancer used to have fun working on this with me in his garage and we drove this car together. this car has so much sentimental value to me it's unlike anything I've ever owed. It's so inexpensive to insure, cheap on gas. hard to believe its "just a civic". feels like so much more. I hope someday I can fix it up and truly make it great. I've painted it several times. rebuild engines and swapped transaxles. I hope to strip it down and custom build it and restore it from the ground up someday. Im so lucky to have it. This video was awesome!
The intro was spot on. I rode in a 6th gen Accord from the time I was a baby till I could drive. I have no doubt that's why I love Hondas. Thank you guys for the videos you make, they are incredible and unmatched by any other UA-cam channel.
I love the retro reviews. I'd love to hear peoples preferences as to why they went VW GTI over Honda or Honda over VW. Would also love to know how this guy prevented this from getting stolen..
Love it. Took me way back. It was always a Prelude for me, but the CRX was always one of the specials to me. I'd love to see you do something similar on a 3rd, 4th, and/or 5th gen Prelude. They need to be remembered.
I love the passion in Scott's voice when he talks about the possibilities he witnessed 1st hand. I've been asleep at the wheel but I'm starting to get why people are such fans of legacy Honda. Loving the sound at the redline.
I'm 48 and my first car back in 93 was a used 89 Civic Si Hatch. My best friend(and still so to this day after my wife) also bought a used 90 CRX Si. To say as guys in our early 20's that we loved these practical yet a hoot to drive hard cars that were reliable beyond anything else fun available at the time, and still wouldn't cost a fortune to fuel up, would be an understatement!. I still judge every other car I've owned and driven, many much more powerful, against those cars. Sure it may very well be nostalgia that clouds my opinion, but very few measure up in sheer fun. Hell the reason my daily driver commuter car is a 2012 Fit Sport, is because as much as I thought I wanted a Civic Si in 2013 when I bought my Fit, as soon as I drove the Fit Sport, it was the closest thing overall feel to my 89 Civic Si; I could ring out and have a blast in the corners, without getting myself in trouble like I did with my short lived MKV GTI.
I felt the same level of passion for my 1991 Suzuki Swift GTi. Weighs nothing, tiny but practical and revs to the moon. I now drive 1500cc ND Miata for feels. Bravo gentlemen!
My first new car was a 1988 CRX Si and man did I love that car. Unfortunately, five years or so into ownership the car was hit from behind and totaled. Thank you for making this video- you brought back some great memories!
Love seeing these older cars given the same high quality treatment as the new ones you review. I was too late to the game of lightweight Hondas but I still lusted after them. It’s such a shame this period has passed and cars like these aren’t made anymore, but it begs the question of whether Honda even fully knew why these are so beloved.
My first two cars were CRX Si's and I was too young to appreciate what they were. Now, looking back, especially after watching this video it brings back all the fun and nostalgia of those days. Thanks for making a great video Mark!
This channel is amongst the best not just because you review cars so thoroughly and passionately, it's because of who you both are and your mix together. You're true car nerds like many of us here and listening to you share your passion on cars is something we will never get tired of!!!! Today's episode especially. I remember being envious of people who had them in highschool and I am still envious today. Having this personal and high production visit into the world I could never obtain is a gift. Thanks to you both so much, I appreciate you!
This has been my dream car since I was 15, it came out the year I was born, I would've loved one but they're very rare where I live and only getting more expensive
15:28 You do this because you love it. You love cars you have that passion as most of your loyal viewers do. We in turn respect you for it. Your doing what many of us would but don't want to. Hell I've thought of this as well years back but didn't want to suck the passion out with what your doing. I can tell its WORK. I know its work. Thank you for being the person we cant. Seriously man. *stands up* 👏👏
First UA-cam video I've ever paid for. Honestly top tier production value every single time, thank you for your continued efforts! Was floored by the CRZ comment. I get that it doesn't make a lot of sense on paper, but after driving one for 6 months it always makes me smile, which is great considering its only job is for the daily gridlocked commute. Also I can't think of a suitable replacement that is also small, manual, economical (avg of 6L per 100kms/39mpg), has 4 seats, modern, somewhat sporty and is enjoyable to drive.
They weren't affordable here in New Zealand, the 91 SiR was over $60,000! My Si 89 was $16,000 2nd hand with 30k on it,one of best vehicles I've owned. Went from Series1 12a Rx7. Had Tokico adjustable, Nu Speed race springs, braided brake lines with comp pads, stripped out was 825kg.. ran on race gas with a 5° Advance...straight piped, cat delete with 12" coby at back. Back in early 90's shocks were$3k!Was my daily for 5yrs, tracked at Taupo, Manfield and Pukekohe ❤
You brought back a lot of great memories. When I was a teen and through my twenties i owned over a dozen Hondas many of which were CRX's. I'm now 40 and can say the love for these cars really shaped a large part of my future, including my career. Thank you 👍
Thanks so much for this! Talk about memory lane. As a guy who graduated high school in 1991, I grew up with a love of this car (and pretty much all Honda's in the late 80s/early 90s)!
This makes me want to get an old Honda just to experience raw FWD. I never understood the passion for the platform but everyone I know loves it. This video is a total gem.
Back in the early 90s, JDM SiR CRXs ruled the small capacity class in amateur motorsport in my neck of the woods (Sydney Australia). They were so far ahead of any other hot hatch or oldschool small rwd car, I had a Corolla FX GT and later an AE86, and I just couldn’t catch these guys. IIRC B16A CRXs won their class in the state runoffs for all of the early 90s. I love these things and would love to have one: but everyone who owned one in period loved them too, and they were all used up a long time ago. Awesome vid, awesome car.
Here in the states nothing could handle a second gen CRX on an autocross course until the Mazda Miata arrived. If you've never done autocross it's all second and third gear driving, hair pen turns and lower than track speed. The Miata had the edge because it was rear wheel drive but nothing else came close to a well handled CRX. We never got the Si-R here but that didn't stop a lot of enthusiasts from pulling B16s and B18s out of other Hondas and bolting them into this little demon. I didn't have the money for that swap for mine so I settled for a JDM ZC DOHC engine. It was plenty fast enough for me but I always dreamed about getting a B series engine for my car.
Thanks guys. I've been watching you guys since your FRS build videos. The production quality and presentation of knowledge has grown so much. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your new videos in 2023. Happy new year.
Thank you savagegeese for making these amazing films and being very honest, You have developed trust with viewers like no other channel, the video quality is amazing(The Integra Type R video is an unforgettable experience for me personally), and You make the most entertaining as well as actually useful real-world experience information on even the most boring cars which most people actually buy and can afford.
Oh boy. That comment about the "car makes you happy" really took me back to my feeling about my 2001 S2000. Crappy day at work... drop the top and take the long, scenic way home. Mood instantly better. To a lesser extent, I felt the same way about my bugeye WRX. I feel bad for people who'll never get to experience what this is like. They'll never know the pure joy that these cars were. Lean, tight, no computer nagging you. Just driving experience. Like my Ninja 600 in college. Not a computer in sight. I miss these so much. Great video and thank you for all these. I'm subscribing today because I've probably watched 50 of your videos over the past 2 years. No one else is doing this kind of stuff.
The late 80s through early 00s was indeed peak honda design on many many fronts. I mean the Acura Legend (gen II) came out in 1989 and that car looks great today! Same goes for many Hondas of that era.
Might be my fave video yet from you guys; owning an EG6, it’s so hard to understand how amazing these “commuter” 90s Hondas were. And you guys were able to show it.
I bought my 92 VW GTI 16v in 1998. It was ,and continues after all these years, my favorite car. It was before bulbous styling, electric power steering, traction control, cameras everywhere, silly CVTs and paddles, giant pillars blocking your view.. you were a bigger part of the driving experience. No one bought sports cars with an automatic, sac religious. Over the years I’ve enhanced the handling with Neuspeed sway bars, KW coil overs, and kept the engine Stock. appreciate my 2015 Scion (only recently purchased with 31k in 2020.. now splits time with bicycles and the GTI) for its airbags, operating AC, power locks/windows, timing chains, and quiet ride in comparison on a long trip.. but I get caught up in the fun so much with my GTI still. Those comfy grippy seats, simple rolling sunroof, classic timeless looks.. It’s forever for me!
You cannot find these cars anywhere today. in the Toronto area I've not seen an 80s civic CRX or early 2000 CRX/SI in probably 20 years. I would love to have even just be able to drive my old 85 5 speed DX hatchback again. The engine is bulletproof, the sound, the transmission i could shift by just rev matching with 2 fingers on the stick. The car loved to be driven in the high RPMs. I wish i had a the last of the first gen CRX SI or the Civic hatchback SI. but in this area most have rusted out and been scrapped long long ago. Never driven that version of the SiR. If i could pay $$$ to drive one again even just for a few hours i would.
These videos are honestly so well done every time. The passion, the sound, the lengths you go to get engineers involved. You should be getting an Oscar nomination for some of these documentaries, for real
A sincere thanks for both this amazing video on a car I forgot how much I missed, and because I just started my own channel and can now appreciate every thing you said, including how great a job this is! Thank you for your incredible work over the years!
Came for the CRX, the tech bit at the end was icing on the cake! Those Dell Precision laptops are my go-to when a customer needs something powerful and portable, and I'm not getting paid to say that. Even the used ones from like 2015 match or exceed modern consumer desktops in terms of power. It's nuts. Great video.
I had a 1987 Si.. swapped D16A1 Integra mortor in it.. Most fun car I ever owned.. more fun than my S2000... Sad cars like these will never come back..
That car actually sounds SO good. I've never been a fan of the B-series drone, but that engine specifically sounds great. Whatever they did with it really worked.
if a be series has drone, it's not done right. Lots of raspy cans out there. a decent exhaust and an intake and b's h's f's k's hell even d series sound good
@@spencersgarage the thing about Hondas is that all exhaust sound range from shit to meh...... They have great intake sound but I never heard a Honda exhaust sound good....... Funny enough Honda fanboys think they're car exhaust sound like a McLaren MP4 or a Quattro S1.........
Mark, I know you produce much (if not all?) of the music for your videos, but is there anywhere I’d be able to listen to the song used at the end? It’s very beautiful, just like the rest of the content you and Jack create. I can’t imagine the workload it takes for a small team to create something like this, but they really are therapy for many of us. Thank you
The song you're referencing is by a band named 'Men I Trust'. This exact song's name escapes my memory at he moment, but their entire catalog has this vibe. Hope this helps!
This channel is really something man. I found it when I was shopping cars, after buying I kept watching because of the quality and chemistry of Mark and Jack, and yet these classics documentaries add a whole other element. Truly one of a kind content.
This video brought a tear to my eye. Just beautiful work. I grew up in a “Honda family”, uncle was a longtime Honda fan and specialist mechanic. There is some magic in those 80s and 90s Honda products that I’ll forever wish I was old enough to experience as a driver. Also the Dell partnership bit at the end - as a current IT guy I appreciated that, they’re really doing great things in their space.
You guys have so much passion for these videos and the shear production quality. You're on the level of Clarkson, May, and Hammond for my car enthusiast entertainment (Collab???) Thank you for the years of entertainment and hopefully many more to come.
This is incredible. I used to see these on the road when I was a little kid, and thought they looked so cool. And when I got old enough to learn more about them, I didn't see them anymore and thought I might have hallucinated the whole thing. Learning what they're called and their history is some great closure, and I really hope this kind of thing comes back. And Dell really knows how to make a solid work laptop lol it's a good thing you specified one of those instead of their desktops!
As an 18 year old in 1990 I test drove one of these and oh my, what an epic car. Finances at the time would not allow me to own one but nothing I’ve owned since has come close. Still searching for the time capsule unicorn, in the hope that one day I will own one. Thanks for allowing us to hear that screaming VTEC again, brought a big smile to my 50 year old face.
Seeing another collaboration with Scott Zellner always brings a smile to my face. The knowledge and passion speaks volumes. Awesome video, guys. This car was always my dream car. It was what started it all for me.
Love this! My friend had a lowered CRX Si in maybe '87 that cornered on rails and was just that thrilling, I can still feel it. So much fun... Love the direction you are going..
Excellent video Mark! This is exactly how I feel about the best years for Acura 90's into the early 2000's. Timeless classics which were truly ahead of their time and highly sought after by enthusiast. Wish I was closer to you guys. Would love for guys to do a video on my Acura (3rd gen TL, 6MT with comptech goodies). Happy new year to you, your family and crew!
Wish they still made them today--had to settle for a Cayman instead...
well said. well said
It was certainly something special that just is simply gone with today’s models.
REAL CHICKEN 🐔 .
Well said but I could be wrong I think jack and mark are the whole team?!
I’ve had two last gen CRX Si’s. It’s very hard to explain to people just how awesome these cars are. Great video, Mark.
Same here, almost. I had an early CRX and then stepped up to an Si. What a fantastic momentum machine.
If you could completely overhaul and uprade/update them, what would you do? Sound deadening etc.
It just sucks its so hard to find parts for now. I felt scared driving it on the street.
I can't get enough of HOW GOOD this car sounds like. Like, for real, it's legit one of the best in-cabin sound I've ever heard on a road car
here is my dream dc2 with spoon exhaust ua-cam.com/video/sVexnLApTdU/v-deo.html was so addictive
For real, it's even better in person.
and the cable based gear shifts...unmatched to this day. Never have I driven a car - even from Honda - which had a comparable feel to it.
91 CRX si was my first car, i would find excuse to drive it because it's that fun to drive. you just feel one with the road and you can see everything. unfortunately, an SUV backed up and drove over my car at a stop light. i was devastated.
We sometimes take these content for granted. Thanks for reminding us we can’t. Look forward to another year of honest and engaging content!
Thank you for the currency! Its the magic of media, music, videos etc. If you can forget things for a bit, then the "video" in this case did its job.
Hit it right on the head. CRX was my taproot car, and I still have one sitting in my garage so that I could share that pure, visceral experience with my kids. Thank you for looking both forwards and backwards in our automotive landscape. Drive on…
This may not turn out to be your most viewed videos, but I do so appreciate you making these.
I absolutely love the way this car sounds. Perfectly balanced induction and exhaust note. I would never get tired of hearing that little Honda sing.
My brother in law owned a CRX in the early 90’s. He raced it in SCCA and loved it. Sold it when he started a family. He won’t admit but he cried a little after watching this.
Thanks for all the effort put into the CRX project! Very excited for the NSX project!
You and me both!
Your channel is a streaming museum, past and present!
cool; you have a CRZ? I've always appreciated how small that car was and despite the funky looks, I kinda liked it. Is your a manual?
I lived next to a honda dealer in the nineties and drooled on those every time i walked by to and from school. Now, I’m the lucky owner of an S2000 since 14 years 😊

My 1st car was an 88 crx si. I learned to drive through autocrossing it. still love this car.
That B-series VTEC crossover! Will never get old.
You guys are totally in a league of your own when you make these special videos focusing on a retro car or a particular brand. There is nothing else on UA-cam that communicates the passion behind these cars quite like this.
Yes they're amazing
Jason Cammisa with Hagerty is on a similar level imo.
@@spaceoner1 That’s true. But he does have a huge team behind him
I remember a friend in HS had this, and we were just getting into cars. We stripped it out, cut off the exhaust, and thought we were the coolest kids on the planet. Looking back, I hate myself HA, but the CRX was such an important car to me growing up. Modifying it, going to car meets, getting in trouble, making memories, etc, all a big part of me growing up.
If I had a time machine I'd go back in time and slap you guys in the face for making such an annoyingly loud car
Sorry I just hate that bs
@@Highlander1432 I’d have to slap you back for telling me that though.

I drive a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
You probably remember the Olds Achieva SCX then from racing, I had one, I miss it.
@@BreakStuffClub absolutely!
Thanks, maybe we will run into each other at some point.
Thanks for the awesome content!!
He tends to cycle his 'gems' thru the show room, I enjoy them when I stop by on occasion.
As an 80's and 90's kid I loved these cars. I was fortunate enough to occasionally drive my buddies Mitsubishi GT 3000 VR4 and then I fell down the rabbit hole of JDM. Much love for the passion projects! I love when you make a video like this, it kinda seems like a mini documentary. w00t!
Dang man, you dropped $25 on this comment?
@@wccrispy Yus. Supprt the channel my dude.
@KeitheR81 He starts the video by saying this car was fun, light etc etc and mentions affordable and attainable……🙂
I remember these very well when I was a teen and began driving in 91 in South Africa .
Did you rice it out, crash it, turn it into an endless project and sell it to the scrapyard?
Honda CRX SiR
The Honda so cool it's not only an Si, but also a type R
The sound was amazing. The feeling of the sound was even better in the experience. That was the gold
Reliability.
This is an imported JDM model that gets kept in a warehouse lol
@@TermlessHGW My buddy had a 99 Civic Si. He drove it like he stole it all the time and it took the daily beatings like a champ.

That's great man, what a great first car to have! I remember seeing a lot of CRX cars on the road back in the day, always liked them.
@Alice You are so right. I look at modern Honda and despair.
My first two cars were CRX Si's and I was too young to appreciate what they were. Now, looking back, especially after watching this video it brings back all the fun and nostalgia of those days. Thanks for making a great video Mark!
Are you one of the reasons a small amount of these still exists?

Perfection. Thank you Mark and Jack, and Scott for this one!
I got 2 crx , I daily till this day love these car so fun and reliable , had 1 for 10 years and other for 5 years 🔥
This makes me want to get an old Honda just to experience raw FWD.
Awesome video as always. Keep it up!

You and Jack do a great job Mark, thank you, much appreciated❗️👍😎
Crushing it this year, as always, thanks for all the great content.
The late 80s through early 00s was indeed peak honda design on many many fronts. I mean the Acura Legend (gen II) came out in 1989 and that car looks great today! Same goes for many Hondas of that era.
watching this video while owning a CRX is so motivating lol
My friend had the last CRX SI. Such a fun car!
Never thought I'd see an EF on my favorite car channel! I had a 91 with a swapped B16, everything about this was pure nostalgia. You guys rock.
EF is a Civic….
@@spencersgarage they used it for the CRX as well. Actually if you go to @7:40 you can actually see the VIN plate with "EF8"
Might be my fave video yet from you guys; owning an EG6, it’s so hard to understand how amazing these “commuter” 90s Hondas were. And you guys were able to show it.
Your passion for what you do definitely shows in the final product. We all appreciate your efforts more than you know.
Just hearing the CRX's engine being rung out without watching the video just brings back a flood of memories!
That car actually sounds SO good. I've never been a fan of the B-series drone, but that engine specifically sounds great. Whatever they did with it really worked.
With a good cat back, b series sound great imo. Especially when you open it up.
i think it's just valve springs and a replica mugen exhaust setup.
You have never been a fan of the B series? How can you NOT be a fan of the B series??? It’s a nirvana of a engine.
if a be series has drone, it's not done right.
@@nasajeep thank you!

Great video! Thank you for the throwback. I hope he keeps that thing in a garage, this car probably gets stolen more than a bicycle would 😂
You guys have so much passion for these videos and the shear production quality.

Owning an EF Civic myself, I can relate to many things you mentioned.
Love this! My friend had a lowered CRX Si in maybe '87 that cornered on rails and was just that thrilling, I can still feel it. So much fun... Love the direction you are going..
The CRX in any trim was also somewhat of a holy grail for dB drags. Many were stuffed full of huge subwoofers and amps for car stereo competitions.
A guy down the street from me had a beautiful black one when I was in my early teens.I desperately wanted it.
Excellent video Mark! This is exactly how I feel about the best years for Acura 90's into the early 2000's. Timeless classics which were truly ahead of their time and highly sought after by enthusiast. Wish I was closer to you guys.
