Hondas seem to always make very emotional and enthusiastic videos when Misha is driving... So much fun bashing these little motors all the way around the track. And they truly eat it up like nothing... I'm really enjoying all the love that Misha is giving Hondas recently. Awesome content. 👌
@@ghomerhust Adding to what you said. They are very reliable even when modded B & K series will make 400-500whp on the stock bottom end and run for years. 2:07 This is the pre-facelift version and those were hella fast. They keep up or sometimes are even quicker then the CRX VTEC. But the CRX VTEC came on the market in 1990 and the DOHC version got a facelift. With that facelift Honda did a downtune on the DOHC non-VTEC's because otherwise it would too competitive in it's own market. The 88-89 prefacelifts had 130bhp 144nm. Facelift 90-91 124bhp 140nm
Anyone remember the the one make CRX series racing back in the day? These used swap ends trail braking into corners faster than an old 911. Loved this lap. Loved the car. Loved the enthusiasm of Misha and Rory.
Yes! Absolutely loved that. On TV but also deliberately chose days to spectate when they were on the bill. Lusted after one (though my ‘plastic’ bodied 130HP MR2 on shitty Yokohama A539s - who recommended them to me! - was just a bit quicker round Donington Park than a slick shod CRX race car the same team looked after. No power but just perfect handling. Sublime. I wish 13:31 I’d have got that to the ‘Ring
My first car was an 88 Mustang GT Manual in all White.. It was a T-Top car and had a cam and 3.73 gears, headers, & 2chamber Flowmasters, was so much fun back in the late 90's as I graduated in 99.. Since I live in Indiana, the car wouldn't get me around in winter, so I got an 89 CRX just like this one but White to match the Mustang.. It was sooo much fun, and the complete opposite of the Mustang, the 5.0 was all torque, and muscle and sound.. The crx was RPM & Momentum.. I lowered a couple inches, and tinted it out and had a sweet set of 10" subs in the back.. I felt like I ruled my small town of about 15k people.. I wish I held on to both of them as they are both very sought after cars today, yet were both super cheap to buy, by just working after school, and during summers.. The Mustang was %5900 & CRX was $2800.. Under $10k for 2 bad ass cars, what happened to the good ol days..
His enthusiasm is contagious, what a great guy ,rev it like on my way to work lol. Hope he comes back after a rebuild and a turbo upgrade ,maybe some brakes ? Man those Hondas love the rpms ,love these lower hp cars ,it really show your skill as a driver at the speed you carry through all the corners
I’ve watched so many of your videos, have to say I really enjoyed this one. The owner was loving every second of the drive and looks like you were having fun too.
Brought back a few memories. I had the same car, silver 1.6 16v on a G plate when i was 21, bought it at around 6 years old, had rust starting on the passenger rear arch at that age, lol. What a fun car it was, like a go-kart, i'm sure it did 90 in 3rd. Only had it around 5 months when an old lady ran into the side of me on a round about and writ it off, still got the book pack for it somewhere. Got a S2000 at the minute but i keep looking at CRXs for sale.
The owner is the real deal. Got to love a true petrol head, greetings from west London. Wow, what a guy. As for Misha, what can one say, a man that just lives/ loves to drive, don’t matter what it is so long it’s got wheels. Ma man 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👊🏿❤️😊
13-14 years ago I had CRX '91 year, with the D16Z5 engine and it was on papers something like 970 kg. or something like that... and people really underestimated the car's power. When u hear something like 125 - 131 hp and u're usually "naah, thats too weak" ,but they don't consider the weight of the car is sub 1 ton. For example I remember "punishing" people with BMW's 320i ..they have more HP, but they also have like around 300 kg. more. I kinda miss a lot my CRX and I hope to get my hands again on this car.
14:34 My Volvo 240 is starting to develop that same issue. Known to be the heater core valve gunking up and eventually not fully closing any more, just a b to get to in that car. Might not be related, just wanted to throw it out there.

I had this car years ago. It was basically a go cart. So much fun driving a slow car fast. I drove mine for over 200k miles and sold it running on the original motor. Great car with so much leg room for a small hatchback.
The blade silver si is actually more rare and here in the california scene, a lot of us prefer blade silver over the black. We love seeing them. congrats on the feature and it was super fun to watch.
What a great lap! Loved the CRX since first saw it when I was a kid, and I'm the same age as the owner. Would love to see it again boosted this time. Bring it on Rory!
Just watching the joy and happiness of the owner makes me smile because for a car guy, this was definitely a dream experience for him and would be for any of us.
I love those little things! With some port work, stronger valves & springs, camshafts, headers, exhaust & tires he'll be gaining a lot in dat b16 non vtec. Or a b20 head with exhaust & lsd is another combination P.s. forget the turbo man it'll be a hassle on curves on a track, dragging its another strory; just necessary. 🎉
I was beginning to think that temp gauge MUST be broken. It barely moved once up to temp and never past half way on gauge. Neat lil Honda CRX. They love living at redline!
I had a 1988 Si in black in the late 90’s. My first foreign car. Loved it. My first night of work at Ground Zero, Halloween 2001, I parked it at the yard in the S Bx and when I returned at dawn it was mysteriously burned to the ground.
Got to love an old honda! sounds good and one of the few cars that the heat gauge actually goes down when you hammer it XD except for the end there, got a bit warm XD that radiator is working like a charm!
If a D-series is "a little tappety" in the morning, that doesn't mean it needs a rebuild. They have a non-hydraulic valvetrain, meaning every once in a while it needs a manual valve adjustment. That's just something you do on old Hondas; same with most motorcycles. It's part of why the valvetrain is so light and free to rev.
My 1st car was a 1988 CRX without VTEC like this back in 2000s, thing never died, redlined daily, best car in my world😂 No back seat though, on rego papers it was 800kg, I had a flat battery for about one month and I could push and clutch start it myself, so light. The back end was so light it use to spin out at high speed😂
For her age and no vtec. She moves...... great owner aswel. I to run the older Vauxhall small block 16v xe non vvt, a set of cams in mine gave it that higher rpm kick with the cam duration. Great vid
I remember these coming out, i passed my test in 1987 and definitely couldn't afford one. I should have brought one when they become cheaper as I've always loved the shape but stupidly i didn't 🤦🏼, now they are expensive.
Had an ED9 as my first car. Exhaust, intake, custom map, suspension, front and rear strut bars. With the custom map (done by a guy who later moved to UK to become one of the very best tuners out there, competing in Time Attack : Romain Levesques), it basically had the same peak power as a B16, but more torque down low. Of course, a tuned B series is gonna be better, and now we have all ways and means to perform K20 swaps, but the D16A9 was the peak of the D series and a great engine, and they take turbo conversions really well, so if you want cheap power, that's the way to go. For the story, I bought mine before getting my licence, so my dad, who's a crazy good driver, took it periodically. By the time I got my licence, everyone in the area was afraid of this little CRX and nobody ever dared to challenge me on the road, contrary to the usual behaviour you'd be met with driving a GTI or sports car, because my dad had already clapped absolutely everyone with it 😂 I'm very happy with my current NA MX-5, but damn I miss the CRX so freaking much. Thanks Misha for the nostalgia shot, and Rory, please drive and enjoy this thing as much as you can.
What a beauty. I can’t think of any other hot hatch coupe fwd two seater shaped like this. The vintage car enthusiasts always said that there were no real classics to be found in the reasonable price class of the mid 1980s and later. Here’s one that proofs them wrong. Perfomance- and designwise.
Wooow, i had a civic sb4 SI and an ef9 vtec. Great memories! My mates used to turbocharge the same 1.6dohc and we had a lot of fun during local track days❤

Nice to see that a Honda is very economical with its fuel. The fuel gauge is lower at the beginning than at the end or has been refueled in between:-) At a certain point the tank is even completely full.

I remember these coming out, i passed my test in 1987 and definitely couldn't afford one. I should have brought one when they become cheaper as I've always loved the shape but stupidly i didn't 🤦🏼, now they are expensive.
13:06 😄
- On the limiter again?
- Yes.
- So good!
Wow a D16 i thought id never see that valve cover again. Takes me back. ❤
D16a9 🇯🇵
Owning an 80s CRX has long been a dream of mine. I don’t think I’ll ever fulfill the dream, but videos like these certainly help.
Get one before it's too late! They rust pretty badly unfortunately, we've had ours welded twice now and only owned it 4 years 😅😬🤭
I love how the fuel meter goes up bc of the g-forces. Reminds me of my good old days with my Civic EJ2. Awesome ride this one!
"Give her the ketchup, she loves it" 😂😂😂
Had an ED9 as my first car.
By the time I got my licence, everyone in the area was afraid of this little CRX and nobody ever dared to challenge me on the road, contrary to the usual behaviour you'd be met with driving a GTI or sports car, because my dad had already clapped absolutely everyone with it 😂
I'm very happy with my current NA MX-5, but damn I miss the CRX so freaking much. Thanks Misha for the nostalgia shot, and Rory, please drive and enjoy this thing as much as you can.
This is fantastic. The first car i drove. Crx 2. 1.6 Dohc., At 12 years old and i loved it. Then, And now!
I love this model CRX.
That's so awesome! I can't wait till my future kids get the opportunity to drive such a fun little car 😊
one of the greatest engines ever seen the light of day
Have a picture of this exact car driving home from work in the UK, sounded great and looks great. Good to see it on the track!
You have a picture of it?? 😮
Thank you aswell 🥰
Its just me or this lap feels way faster than the "1000 hp" Gtr from the other day ? jajajajajaja
It does:)
The faster the car, the more careful you gotta be, the more stressed you are and the lesser you enjoy it
What a beauty. I can’t think of any other hot hatch coupe fwd two seater shaped like this. The vintage car enthusiasts always said that there were no real classics to be found in the reasonable price class of the mid 1980s and later. Here’s one that proofs them wrong. Perfomance- and designwise.
Rorys joy is what made this vid extra fun to watch.
Wooow, i had a civic sb4 SI and an ef9 vtec. Great memories! My mates used to turbocharge the same 1.6dohc and we had a lot of fun during local track days❤
Still love the Civic videos better than nearly amy electric car lap I've seen to date. Very relatable.
Great footwork. Beautiful to watch
All the best to everyone
...5:32... the Honda owner so nice😂👍...🚘she loves the red zone 8000🔥 rpm yeahhh 🤣 HONDA It's a legend...never lights lit never blockages or leaks I had the same CRX VTEC 1991 150hp(180hp) a real go cart😍...GREAT MISHA PRO as always🤘...an entire tour in the red zone with great conversation everyone had fun... you made me smile throughout the video What a couple😂😂 another video like this🔥🚘🔥
Boy you drove the wheels off that . I really enjoyed your enthusiasm driving and that of the owner too.
Now that's pretty frickin' cool, probably one of the rarest D series engines out there!
This is what i call pure love for automotive boys. Gigling with affordable old car in fantastic legendary track. I hope one day able to have fun there also
Gotta love Rory's enthusiasm! Great car dude.
Nice to see that a Honda is very economical with its fuel. The fuel gauge is lower at the beginning than at the end or has been refueled in between:-) At a certain point the tank is even completely full.
Rory, you sir are a legend! Love this guy! Amazing video once again, Misha!
I love owneers delighting face. My friend is still drinving from new in Japan. We're geeting old, but VTEC never getting old.
Thank you so much! I have a friend in Japan also with a VTEC CRX SiR, I hope one day to visit and go for a drive in it 🙏 😊
Rory - what a sound geezer! Great video, awesome Honda!
Had one of these in the early 90s. Loved it and it’s great to see the joy it brings both of you.
I used to have an '89 CRX, just like that but white. Best car I've ever owned, so much fun. Got the D16 to 172bhp NA.
What had you done to the a9 to make it to 172bhp? I’m planning to rebuild the engine next year, it’d be great to know tour build 💪🏻
@@davcap7816 Supersprint 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, b-pipe and backbox, stock cams reprofiled to stage 2 by Crower in the USA, adjustable cam pulleys, ported throttle body, induction kit, Dastek piggyback ECU for mapping. The cams meant it barely idled. I earthed the air-con pin on the ECU to get it to idle faster which helped.
I still have the exhaust mani if you're interested... well, part of it.
EDIT: Almost forgot... ported head. Ports matched to manifolds.
@@HerbsmanRevs WOW! Such hard work. What part of exhaust manifold you got? Original supersprint is so hard to find
@@davcap7816 it's the 4 in to 2 part the bolts to the head, it's stainless. The 2 in to 1 part was aluminiumised steel and rotted. Easy enough to make I would think.
@@HerbsmanRevs sounds great, what’s your ig?
8:00
its so good it even refills itself..... ;)
I love the note of the engine......
Impressive, pure driving pleasure machine!
DOHC ZC kicked off my little Honda love affair way back. Cool vid :D
