Thank you so much for this! I'm only a kid and I've found that having a happy bunny that trusts you can be hard to get. I've been waking up at five am to read your articles so my partner Marshmellow can be happy. Marshmallow can be pretty shy but I've been working with and he's been seeming more comfortable around people. Marshmallow is a dorf Albino bunny and i got him about a year ago. He's truly a sweetheart and I love him so much. I've been saving up money to get him a lot of toys and treats to make him as happy as he can be 😊! I have a four year old little brother and he can be quite scary to my little companion. Marshmallow has really been opening up to me and other people. I will try these techniques and then come back to this video in a few months! 😊😁
got my two boys from the shelter 2 days ago - they are about 8 months old and seem to have settled into my place but are still super shy around me! this video is super encouraging though, thank you
Thank you! I've started fostering and have been watching your videos for advice. My latest foster is much more shy than the ones before so this really helps! 🥰
Hi !! I brought a rabbit home from our local humane society this afternoon and he has been a dream ! I’m already on step 3 :D I lay down in the corner of the room and he’s coming up to me all the time and I break his little treats into 10 TINY pieces and reward him for coming over . He laid beside me tonight and started purring when I rubbed his back . Thank you for your video it helped me a ton !
I got two rabbits in need of a new home, a female and a male. Both intact... They are about 2 years old, so I want to have them fixed as soon as possible. I have made appointments for both of them. I had them checked by my vet and the female needed treatment for a very nasty sinus infection, and she absolutely HATED the meds I had to give her. So I’ve had to work harder for her trust. And they don’t seem to have gotten the love they needed, but they will now. I already love them to bits. And they seem to love their new homes so much, that it rubs of on their stance on me a little. I don’t think that they used to have space or toys, or even the proper diet. His poop used to be scarily small and almost black, but now he makes perfectly big and healthy poops. I’m so proud! 💖 And I can’t wait for when they are healed and the hormones are reduced, to see how they will get along with bonding. But I am very prepared for all that, when it is time. I just hope they will like each other.
Hi, thanks for making this video it's super informative. I just got my bunny 9 days ago, she was 8 weeks old then. Took her to the vet for a checkup yesterday and had trouble getting her in her travel case so think she was a bit stressed by that as she is very shy and we haven't been able to pet her much yet. My vet has told me just feed her hay and pellets and that she is too young for any treats until about 5 months old so I won't be able to bribe her affections. I will keep tuning in to your videos, thanks again for your tips you seem like a real expert I am very grateful!
I’ve had my bun from a baby. She’s almost a year old & sweet. But had a terrible time while I was away. I also had to give up 1 bunny as she wasn’t bonded to her. So now she’s getting used to being a solo bunny. We didn’t bond well before. So I think this vid will help me to build a strong, consistent bond. & make her not feel so anxious & sad. Also, really praising this vid highly!! Your experience with bunnies is so helpful. Because so much of having a bunny is trial & error. & you take that away. So thank you ☺️
I’m taking care of a rabbit for 2 weeks, and while I have experience taking care of a variety of exotic animals, this is my first time with a bunny, and your videos have been super helpful. I’ve mostly left her alone and it’s day 3 tomorrow; my plan is do do a quiet activity next to her enclosure for a few hours.
@@bushrashaikh8046 try not to keep him too much in a cage, they like to be able to run around, my old bunny hated to be in a cage at night and was much more relaxed when she was let outside
My boy is just shy of touching but is comfortable with me being in the room. He flops and sniffs me and comes up to me just fine just is shy of touch. Noise doesn't seem to bother him at all so I sit in his xpen with my videos/movies/shows playing and clean their poops daily and give treats and their veggues. hes slowly letting me start to pet him now. It's only taken a week and a half ❤
I just got a rabbit today and she’s a little shy, she mostly just stays in her litter box, but she likes to be picked up so I think she’ll worm up quickly :3
Thanks for this very helpful Video. We have a rabbit from a petrescue and he is very shy. But with your steps he leaves his house for treats and even eat it out of my hands. And maybe someday he doesn't hide everytime
On the floor is so important! I once knew a rabbit that had always been kept in a hutch on top of a bookcase. Terrified of the slightest bit of height. Took quote a while for it to eventually jump on top of things like the others love to.
Thanks! I just got a one-month bunny(Tiramisu) 3 days ago and every time I tried to pick him up he ran away lol but I'm gonna make a door for him so every playtime, he could just come out instead of me trying to catch him all the time lol
I just got my baby bunny and a momma bunny 5 hours ago!! The mom is really shy and doesn’t like being pet but the baby likes being pet and I just held the baby cause I wanted to ( i was so stuped) and then I feel like the baby hates me now cause she doesn’t interact with me over a hour now so idk I really hope this vid tips work and while I was holding her she got so scared she started squirming and scratching :(
So are got my baby bunny 4 days ago and she lets me pet her and she dosent run. but I just wanna make sure, if I pet her and she doesn’t run dose that mean she likes it?
Well....He now is not shy anymore, I've also decided to free roam him because i felt bad for him being in his cage all the time. Um and he comes and sniff me alot often so yeay he's doing just fine
I adopted a rabbit yesterday and he is very shy so this is an awesome video to help with learning to bond. Question though, were those raisins that you were giving out in the 'trail' of treats at about 8:20?
Btw all rabbits are different!!! I got My rabbits 3 days ago and they already let me stroke them, on the 1st day i wasn’t aloud to stroke them. But now they will let me stroke them i still have to work on it a bit as they still flinch a bit sometimes.
Hi! I got my bun primrose we call her prim on Thursday…she was really shy and wouldn’t go anywhere near me she stayed in a certain corner next to her little box (she uses the litter so well) everyday I’ve spent a hour + just sitting with her she climbed up on me to have a treat the other day and I caught it on film I was so happy. Is this a sign of trust? Does this mean that I could possibly train her tricks in a few days? I also hand feed her food sometimes I literally put her food in the palm of my hand she she’ll eat it so carefully but my last bunny would attack me and I’m very cautious of her when I know she wouldn’t hurt me.
Hi Amy! Just wanted to know what kind of carriers do you recommend for bunnies? I was looking for ones that had zipper opening on both sides on etsy. Thank you!

My rabbit is 3 months and 2 weeks and I’ve had him for almost 4 weeks. I got him a big pen as I work fulltime. I sit with him and let him out every morning for an hour and evening for a couple hours. He still is scared and barely likes me to pet him. He only comes out occasionally and I’ve only picked him up 3 times. What am I doing wrong 😔any advice?
hahaha. very first thing she did (by not paying attn to how she talks with her hands..?) FLAIL into her bunnies FACE. Again, she doesn't do this on purpose. Shes super sweet (personable, adorable, etc) ... but for some reason, people just don't realize how their hands flail away at animals faces. I hope "The Bunny Lady" will watch the videos of her with the volume off maybe..? And just watch her hands relative to her bunnies face / eyes and think from the bunnies perspective. I really don't have ideas of how to manage the behavior (its obviously find w humans, probably good with kids or people who need visual cues if they don't speak english as a first language) ... but maybe sitting on her hands? Hand restraints..? Something so that when she tries to flail there's an immediate feedback mechanism...otherwise, (kinda like the way I pronounce kilometer with the emphasis on the wrong syllable) ... without immediate reminder I'd probably have a hard time retraining my behavior.

I was sitting with my bun in his cage/play pen and giving him treats when he approached and he was chill at first and then started thumping at me :/ any tips?
Did you stop giving him treats? thumping doesn't always mean fear my rabbits do it when I stop petting them so he could've just been annoyed that the treats stopped coming
@@elachill well he could've gotten spooked, just give it time and try again I've had a rabbit for almost a year now and he's still skittish depending on how you approach, for some rabbits it takes longer to gain their trust ☺️ good luck once you've bonded with a rabbit their fantastic companions!
