Brilliant film Henry.I did Budapest last year and was absolutely captivated by line 1
Thank you for joining me! I always love a trip on M1.
Line 1 is pretty well compatible with the tramways, and when the metro cars you rode on were first introduced, they were tested on the tramway lines by the simple expedient of fitting a higher reach pantograph in place of the ones used in the metro. I believe even now, if they need heavy maintenance they get hauled to the workshop over the tramway.
And of course the Mexikói út depot only dates from the opening of the extension. Before that the metro cars lived in a depot to the south-west of the zoo, and nearly 1 km away from the line. They reached that depot by running on street track from a junction near where you were standing at 11:35 into the video.
Thank you for watching and in the info. I hadn't thought about where the original depot would have been. Maybe next time I'm in Budapest I'll look for its site.
Fantastic video! Metroline 1 is definitely my favourite of the 4 lines
Thank you for joining me! Ever since my first trip on M1 I've always tried to do it each time I visit Budapest.

I can’t believe how much dirt they filled in that little bridge. I also can’t believe how clean the train stations are. I don’t see any garbage anywhere New York for example it’s all you see is garbage and trash. I get so sick of that.
Thank you for joining me! The railway station and public places in Hungary usually are very clean!
@@HenrysAdventures I've been watching your video for years. You actually asked me a question a long time ago when I had 10000 members on my Facebook train page
