- Robin's Book Club Episode 66: Cherry Blossom, Bruce Gilden
Photographs from Japan made between 1995 and 1999 by Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden. Gilden is a one-off, and love him or loathe him (no spoilers, I LOVE him!) I'm sure there will be plenty of interest in this book and video.

We reached the goal of raising £50 to buy and review Sleeping by the Mississippi by Alec Soth. I am SO incredibly grateful to those of you who have contributed, and the review is coming soon. It means even more to me as I recently lost my job and had been feeling a bit rubbish about everything, so this really lifted my spirits.

You've got a great thing going on here, Robin. Thanks for the terrific videos!
Ahhh thanks that's very kind of you. I appreciate your feedback!
Great presentation of a great book :) greetings from Germany
Thanks for your kind comment :)
Hi Robin.
The first rule of photography is to take the picture. Then, others can debate it's merits or otherwise afterwards.
Bruce Gilden has an enviable archive of time and place that needed to be witnessed.
Another wonderful addition to your channel for viewers to mull over.
@colingerard7863 thanks for the encouragement and thanks also for your thoughts, you make a very good point!

Hi Robin.
As an afterthought. If you had to select just one book from your channel, what would it be and why.
I would choose "The Polaroids" by Andre Kertesz. A life time taking uncompromising photographs, that evoked what he felt, taken on an SX70. Simple, spellbinding images, conveying his mood in the final years of life - a legacy to behold.
@colingerard7863 that book is such a treasure! I'll have a think about this but yes that's a strong contender for me too!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome :) thanks for watching !
The style is very much in front of the images, perhaps that type of flash-work can’t avoid being encountered any other way. Speaking for myself of course, fully appreciate it can be absorbed many different ways. Thank you for posting 🤗
It's very much his thing though isn't it? Thanks for watching :)
Overlooked this when it first came out but really enjoyed it here - will search out a copy (music was paired nicely, too). Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
