Hourglass does need something to bridge the gap between 200 and level 1000. Currently there are a couple of commendations which take a lot of that time to tick off, but personally think there needs to be a level 500 cosmetic which i think obsidian bones would fill well. But to that same note, Athena need something for that level gap too. Along side thise, they really need to add a shrinking circle to hourglass particularly for solos.
You were talking about players having to leave their ship in order to complete the underground temples, but don't forget there are skeletons on board the ship that will be able to shoot cannons and attack boarders which will give you a indicator if there are players nearby.
@@samficher3065 Yeah there should be a first mate skelly who acts like any other but has more health and, if the ship has no players on it and is then damaged in any way, will take over steering like an NPC ship and like blow a horn or something to warn everyone.

I bet the music for the event still plays when a player approaches a player burning blade. That way, when you hear the music, you know a player ship is approaching.
The rumour on the waves is servants lvl 500 for the obsidian bones so i’m glad i’m only 40 lvls shorts of that but as it’s going to become an overused tuck cosmetic, I do hope it will take some decent effort to get.
I hope there’s a loud horn that plays whenever a ship gets within a certain distance of the Burning Blade that the entire server can here to tell everybody that a fight is happening there and for the crew of the Burning Blade to get tf back. Maybe a radius of about the diameter of a map square and a cooldown of 2 minutes, to avoid spam. I think that would solve most of the issues I can have with this.
As someone with the skele curse I personally feel like any variants of it (not including pirate emporium costumes), should be kept only to the people with the curse and not something that just anyone can get. Based on how it looks it may become a strat for people who want to tuck while also wearing the curse as it seems to be the darkest version of the curse we've gotten. Personally, I'd rather not have to do more hourglass for it, unless it's commendations that go along with it rather than level prerequisites as I do not want to have to grind past level 200 for it, as cool as it looks.

9:54 as someone who plays by myself in open crew and stuff the skeleton curse is very hard to unlock. I’m forced to play solo on a sloop or get lucky with a crew. I think in general the skeleton curse shouldn’t be locked behind straight PvP and should be more adventure focused. It’s the most Ionic pirate curse in any pirate fiction so it’s just kinda crazy it’s so hard to get.
Excited for the new skelly cosmetics. I mainly do HG and I'm guessing they're going to be tied to "doing X with the Burning Blade" commendations while wearing the normal curse. Hopefully it will encourage more people to HG and the MMR can improve a little bit.
I'm just really happy they made the loot faction ignostic instead of doing a variety of loot from different factions, so no matter what emmisary you are running it's still a very tempting event
What they could do is if you did a ritual at a skeleton camp then a red barrier would surround the island and just shield your ship while you did the ritual

This update looks sweet. I just hope that people *do* the event and contest it. Skull of Siren Song was great, for a week, and then there's not a lot of contesting
I have a VERY strong feeling its Siren Song 2.0 (Siren Song to me is one of the best activities in the game when people actually go for it, but its low reward table killed it off) - I find that unless there are major incentives to chase, people wont PvP "for fun" much on adventure, and the same thing is likely to happen with this update after a few weeks
@@Pace22 Same here. I've loved Siren Song, but I've started and done maybe 50 of them in a sloop and have been attacked once. Even on double gold when it's 100k people don't seem interested. Very fun when contesting someone, though. Hopefully the gold will make it worth it, but given how the vast majority of players run from sloops, there's no hope with the Blade. Still, hopefully the PvE element is fun enough, and if the gold reward is enough *maybe* it'll last a bit longer.
What good is commanding to burning blade if you shoot off to fight other ships? Of a truth. Moreover, there's a lot more issues regarding paid exploitation of server alliances, unfair bans, and more that must be addressed.

just remember to temper your expectations. we all get hyped for new updates and for 6 years its pretty much been meh every time. as much as we still enjoy the game Rare manages to subvert expectations everytime. Like the have cool ideas but have no idea how to implement them in a satisfying way. weve done what 4 updates now that basically ignore past progress and is just "grind the whole game all over again now with our new tools" with the introduction of guilds im still very much not bothering to play if im not making guild progression. so like with this they dont even cover that..... if we pledge to the burning blade it scuttles our ship and the burning blade becomes our temporary ship but are we still progressing our guild? what are the odds our main ship will even keep its guild status once the burning blade sinks or we cash out? Rares spaghetti code and lack of foresight dont seem suited for an update like this.

I love pvp but hate hourglass. Incredibly toxic and the battles are repetitive and get boring fast. I’m only doing hg so I can get the 3 curses and then I’m done with it lol

Lvl 177 servants and 150 Athena HG player, you need lvl 100 to get the curse, then every 10 lvls you unlock a cosmetic and some are locked behind commendations some also already in adventure. New cosmetics are cool.
To be honest my favorite part of this update is the fact that for the first time since the game came out, you can actually get the cool cosmetics by actually playing the game and not from the emporium

I think the meta has to be go galleon leave one person to do the ritual and have the other three defend the boat because strategically the alternative is always get sunk bc those brigs that are all too common are destroying you before you get back then nobody does it bc they keep sinking and never learning to stop doing it that way a la shrines and treasuries and all the other content tbh

But the OP is being dumb for complaining about an update catering towards pvp. Especially when we just got season 10 and 11 which were focusing much more on non pvp related things. If you aren’t interested in the content in this update, don’t interact with the update. You aren’t forced to fight or take over the burning blade. But don’t go bashing a good update simply because it’s not something you specifically are interested in.

100% agree that the obsidian bones should be like 100-130 maybe for Allegiance, and then the customizations can be higher up in the 200-300's.
